You need a huge bag of gloves, shovel, broom and endless supply of dumpsters to get rid of all that vegetation around the house and useless parts of the house. All the renovating makes for a great work-out and time spent outdoors. Every day you spend there makes your property more valuable. Enjoying the progress.

Think the Spider might be a Daddy Long Legs? The jack with the cup for the wood looks like it should work pretty well.. We had to replace some structural beams in our 100 yr old house in Chicago.. We had to pass the beam in through the basement window and used a house jack and a car jack to level out the floor above to put in the beam.. then put in the 2/4 spacers header the footer. beams. Our floors were no longer a place to watch balls roll from the front room thru the dining room and on into the kitchen.. LOL Good times.. Loved working on that old house!

I on the other hand learned to use power tools on my own cause my dad back in the 70's didn't think it was something i needed to know. I really liked the wooden box on the porch! "Simulator projectile ground burst" ... plus the rope handles on the ends - indicating a really heavy box designed for two person carry. That piece, plus others noted in this series indicates a strong possibility someone lived there who was associated with the Army in some capacity. Imagine that being in Ft Benning area.

Too bad the Communists in the U.S. Congress are gonna rename Fort Benning. It's named after Henry L. Benning, a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. Fort Benning is one of ten U.S. Army installations named for former Confederate Generals.

Robert - protect your body with proper gear - safety glasses, long sleeve shirt and a hat. You are moving around in a load of debris with nails in it etc. Clean the debris out your work area. Also, sharpen the chain saw glade with a chain saw file. It goes quick and will increase your productivity. You remind me of myself when I first started out. Take care.

My dad was cutting a board for a cupboard he was building. The saw was in the basement and the cupboard was in the kitchen upstairs. He brought the board up, shook his head, measured again and went down to cut some more. Wash and repeat twice more. Finally he said to my mom, "I've cut it three times and it's still too short." She started laughing. He went back down to turn the saw off, saying that when he was that tired, it was time to shut the power equipment off.

Happy new year!! You've got off to a big start already!! Be safe and take care. It all will get done in time. Also...its measure twice, cut once. I helped build a Floral cooler in my garage to do my flowers. That was my mantra.

I’m sure that Grandpa would say to use safety equipment, although he probably never used them himself! Way back in the day, my Daddy never used them, but he sure made me do so when I helped him! 😏 Nowadays, I use safety stuff automatically!

So amazed at your project and seeing you tackle the job. Keep up the good work, but for God's sake get yourself a chain saw file. That saw is a disaster waiting to happen. Everyone knows a dull saw is more dangerous than a sharp one.

Someone got a new camera me thinks. Much better quality video. I could watch Robert work all day. LOL Good lord get the correct file and tune up that blade.

easy to sharpen chain saw with small round file. sharpen cutting edge of every other tooth, go bac and sharpen opposites, look close you'll see,. Take 5 minutes, makes a world of difference

@@georgejohn9893 yeah, it’s the chain the saw came with. As to be expected for a $120 chain saw the chain is junk. That being said it has definitely paid for itself

When you are cutting thick timber with a chainsaw you should use a chistle tooth Skip chain it throws longer chip and cools the chain.
