I loved how Steven was still Steven even when going down this dark path. He wasn't all "Mwahaha! I'm an evil villain now. He was still himself, just desperate and misguided, which made this story very believable.
I still wish they'd done a miniseries to the one where Wolverine and Conan switched places. I wanted to see Conan with Red Sonja at his side, tearing up Hyboria.
What If's like this are the truest definition of "Darkest Timeline". Uatu The Watcher warned him not to touch the stove, but Strange kept burning himself for centuries.
@@dwnkaomwn3953 question is, was it Sylvie or Peter Parker. Remember that when Loki and Sylvie reached He Who Remain’s castle and were having the conversation, the timeline was already branching. even before He Who Remains’s death. He only kept the Sacred Timeline stable, preventing it from branching, so upon his death, the Sacred Timeline went bonkers with infinite branches. So my theory is that this branch that happened before his death might have been caused by Peter tampering with Doctor’ Strange’s spell as seen from the No Way Home trailer. Then again, it could be that all of these events happening at the same time stacked up to each other to cause this multiverse. We will see
I felt really bad for Stephen. But at the same time this is why a person must learn to grieve then move forward. It hurts losing someone you love, but you can't remain there, otherwise you end up destroying yourself for something that can't be reversed
Doctor Strange is not evil just misguided, and blinded by grief. Loved this episode.

this ep is BONE CHILLING, i had goosebumps the whole time watching it omg. as if the last ep wasnt enough Marvel really said "let's hit all the emotions and philosophical thoughts on this one"
It is rare that you see the Watcher angry. I can't really blame him, all the stories of all the worlds in this reality...gone. Of course, he would be furious! I have to agree with you, this show keeps getting better and better.
The art directing team deserves an academy award. Every frame of these shows is wall art Worthy. Are there any anime shows that have this kind of animation? I'm not very familiar with the genre.
Lmao every time something awful is about to happen to a character, you start the episode saying "I love this character and would be devastated if anything happened to them". Its super great.
@TheMagicMudkip Not necessarily. In both episodes it appeared in, it emerged from a multiversal portal, meaning it was likely summoned from the same dimension both times. And it wasn't actually killed either time, it just got pushed back in one and had some tentacles clipped in the other. Not to mention that if that really is the character we're all pretty sure it is from the comics, they likely have some BIG plans for it in the future.
10/10 ..... perfection .. take this script and make it a live action movie NOW !!!!!! I don't care what they have planned for Multiverse of Madness it CANNOT top this.
Man, this is a sad episode, neverending pain and suffering for sorcerer armani...benadryl cucumberpatch is great tho really capture armani well, very good performance
what i love about this, is the fact that even when the name of the series its "what if...", this literally happened, not hypothetical has the series name could suggest. There used to be out there and entire universe/time line where Dr Strange screw up and erase the whole branch from the sacred timeline. Crazy has hell!! Shame i dont think the MCU would really touch this story ever again in the future.
I believe that the creature with all the tentacles is one of the "Great Old Ones" also known as The "Many-Angled Ones", the species that one of Dr. Strang's greatest enemies, Shuma Gorath is a member of.
Now this is great storytelling coupled with good character arcs; no offence to those who like episode 1 and 2 but this and the previous one in my opinion is much better.
I heard Rachel immediately but a lot of people seem to think it wasn’t her for some reason I’m inclined to think it’s just the animation messing with how people process a characters speech patterns I’m also listening more than watching sometimes so that might just be my bias as well
Episode 2 is still my favorite but in keeping with interesting storyline I like how this story had a dark ending. The storytelling are keeping it fresh by not having predictable stories and happy ending when you sit down to watch one of these episodes you just have allow it to take you to endless possibilities.
I thought the episode was going to end with Strange making a deal/doing a spell that allows him to sacrifice his hands in order for Christine to live... but this ending... holy shit...
The fun thing about this episode is that I absolutely believe Strange as he was characterized in his own movie would go down this same path if put in the same circumstance.
Cumberbatch had a tons of voice acting experiences so yeah, ofc he's great. He's that great because I heard his voice started to break and sounded desperate (in line with his animated facial expression) when he said "let's stay in in,we'll order pizza and creme brulee" then Christine still died while they're dancing I started to cry (and the music started great during those scenes)
This was my favorite What If episode. I don't know what it is but my favorite episode of WandaVision is episode 4, my favorite episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier is episode 4, my favorite episode of Loki is episode 4 and now my favorite episode of What If...? is episode 4.
Knowing how persistent Dr. Strange is, he probably tried this so many times, and though under-emphasized, he probably also had to see Christine die hundreds of times, explaining how broken he was by the time The Ancient One intervenes. This also injects 2 ideas for future movies (since this is canon in the MCU): 2 timelines can exist in 1 universe, and there is a very powerful Strange Supreme in a pocket universe somewhere.

Fortunately Rachel MxAdams is confirmed for Multiverse of Madness
The scary thing is Agatha said Wanda is more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme and like this Doctor Strange suffers from overwhelming grief
Has anyone told you..you kinda look like Sweet Anita
Highly recommend Superman: The Movie and Superman: II (Lester cut then Donner cut) *Similar story behind The Snyder cut of Justice League.

He's just very powerful up to a point where it's destructive if not used carefully, like Wanda.

Because of the multiverse, now they can afford to tell stories that don't have a happy ending. It really opens up what kinds of stories they can tell.

I’m glad someone else made the Anakin comparison. It’s hard to see a great hero fall.
