UMX CONSCENDO - MAIDEN & CRASH! (+on board cameras)

- First flights with cameras attached. Will the UMX take the weight? A crash on a side street, all recorded on both headcam & on-board cameras with very close calls on the model being totally obliterated by traffic.

Crikey, Noel! 😳 That was a bit 'squeaky bum' time! At least the Conscendo survived to fly another day.
It did Gina, it did! I went back to the park today to look for the cowl & lo & behold i found it intact!. Flew it again without the cowl & all went well but the glued prop adapter failed so a new one will be ordered. Ah well ‘them’s the breaks’ as they say. Thanks folks.
Sorry for the crash! But on a calmer day I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot more.
Just had mine out today for the first true glide flight, got almost 30 minutes on a pack in 10-15kmh winds. So relaxing, just enjyed floating it around then climbing back up to start over again.
Should fly well if the broken & glued prop adapter holds up Alex. Calmer today for a try out. Love the gliding capabilities of this one.
hate that happen you were doing good for the amount of wind I know we will see a remaiden after repair thanks for sharing good video 👍👍👍
Many thanks mate. She is all ready to go as I think the hard glue worked on the initial test on the bench.

Not sure but my umx conscendo got a twitchy rudder servo and on the next flight the elevator servo jammed forcing me straight down into the middle of the street destroying everything unfortunately but it may have a defective circuit board problem I hope not because it flies amazingly I have heard of more than a few crashes with this aircraft hopefully it's only just a few. Your crash looks like it can be fixed with not to much work I don't believe it was the camera because I used heavy LEDS and a second small battery and it handled the weight fine. Just glad you will be able to get it back in the sky thanks for the video and have a wonderful day my friend.
Thank you indeed for your encouragement Shannon. Noticed the first camera flight with the camera in the same position & flew perfectly. The weight & cg not a problem. Hope the glue on the prop adapter ( broken) will hold up. Otherwise a new piece $23 with delivery will have to be it!!
Sorry about this unfortunate incident, Noel. It's my personal policy to not click "like" on videos with such incidents. We've all had them. I did enjoy the first part. It is a very capable , enjoyable little plane. I have not tried putting a camera on mine as of yet.
Hi Randy, it is a great little glider & i did fly it yesterday to check out the fix. The prop adapter ( tiny) i hard glued snapped on landing but i kinda knew it would not hold so ordered a new piece. Regards & thanks indeed.
Dang Noel, that was fortunate not to hit the road. Tough lil bugger. We flew ours in 15mph wind, and that was about as much as I was comfortable with. The only thing I can think of is that the rear of the camera is clearly more aerodynamic, so maybe the less aerodynamic front disrupted airflow enough to block out the tail and cause you to lose control?
Hi Adam, you are probably correct. All fixed & the prop adapter in 2 pieces glued together with 2 part cement. I will give her a try this arvo

Sorry to see that crash Noel, could have been a dodgy servo but not sure as you placed the camera in the same place, hope you can fix it....jeff.
All fixed Jeff & went back 2 days later & found the cowl. Flew it yesterday. Thanks mate.
Hi my friend. Just After the hand launch glider seems to be fool. Vertical climbing. No stability. Crash. Are you sure your surface servos were ok ?
Elevator should have saved you but it didn't.
Strange to loose control like this.
This may happen when ailerons surfaces for example are not aligned.
First flight was good. May be the landing causes something wrong with your servos or horns or Rx signal (battery moving, interferences)...

Bonjour Philppe, it could well have been that. I have glued the fuse back, found the cowl 2 days later & flew it yesterday. So all is now well. Many thanks indeed. It sure was too windy to fly this little glider on that day.

This morning I have flight with my Kavan Swift S1. Still refine my settings, but for the very first time I felt confident!. It was my sixth flight.

65 year old male. I have enjoyed flying model aircraft since the age of 12. Recently I purchased the UMX Consendo powered glider. Fantastic ship for sure! Unfortunately, I had a bit of a crash after a Dumb Thumb pushing through the back side of a rotor. ( I do know better). Ended up tearing off the wing and ripping out all the wires from the wing servos jack. I have finished repairs but for the life of me I can't find the wire configuration of the wing jack anywhere? On line? Nothing Dealer? Nothing. Horizon hobbies won't help either. I am hoping you do me a solid with a snapshot of the jack in question , showing the wire config? To be clear I'm lookin for a close image of the male/female Jack connection between the fuselage and wing servos... Cheers
G’day Russ, i had the same problem with the wire connections when tyey pulled out, but a fellow TH-camr came to the rescue….

Yes Mike The umx aircraft handle a light 17g camera well if you get the CG correct

it's never a good idea to put a camera on a umx ! plus a strong wind , it's the perfect combination for a crash ! ✈💥and I think that the fact of having turned the camera towards the front , that was to much !
