thanks to you and your channel back in late June 24 I bought this printer to do my printing and selling my work. I love the 8550 and everyone talks about how great the images look on a luster from Red River. Im looking to increase my sales this year. I never claim it's archival and it's not going to a museum. I tell everyone that buys what frames work and where to get them so I also know it's going behind glass. Keep up the great work with the channel.

It doesn't matter if I'm only here for another 30 or 40 years, I want to produce things that will last and be enjoyed many years after I'm gone by my descendants, clients, their descendants, or even that the work will be resold and have value in many years time.

Mr. Rodríguez is there much diference between Epson 8550 and the 8050? Do they use the same ink? Do You have a video about the 8050?

Whatever prints you sell, irrespective of if they are printed with pigment or dye inks, the longevity will be mostly determined by whoever buys it. A dye based ink mounted behind glass and taken care of will still likely last longer than a pigment ink print blu tacked to your refrigerator 🙂
Even if the prints do fade will it even be noticeable by the owner over multiple years? I doubt it.
Of course if you are providing prints for very high end applications and museums then of course you should be ensuring maximum lifespan of the print and charging accordingly.
For the everyday layman, so long as you are not using cheap 3rd party inks that fade after 6 months then I really don't think fade is something you need concern yourself over. Use genuine OEM ink and decent paper and your prints should last many years 🙂

Jose, just curious. What do you use to scan old negatives and slides? I want to digitize as much as my old film archive as I can and looking at options.
Thanks for another great video .

One problem. While the original inks are available in the US, but not so easy in Europe. Plenty of 3rd party inks, but what seems a huge shortage Onlilne for non-US. Has anybody found a source?

I want to replace my Canon Pro 100 with a new dye based printer. Do you recommend the 8550 over the canon Pro 200? I am used to the Canon “ system” but willing to switch

I did exactly this. I sold my Canon 100 for $200 that I bought 10 years ago for $60 and bought the epson 8550. I haven't looked back, absolutely love the ink tank system and the quality of the prints

Photo papers also effects longevity, I had Kodak papers(with original canon inks) and after 3 years they lost colors even they were in album…
