Edit: Looked at a clip again and Wong Tou’s Chinese speaking voice is the same one as in the Chinese dub.

I have never played any of these games in my life but I really want to so I bought em all, I just started 0 and hopefully it doesn't take too long to get to this game because wow it looks insane
As someone that took that journey myself over the last couple years, you're in for quite the long haul and a couple of the games didn't age well. That said if you get past the length and some rough spots its genuinely rewarding to stick with the story across all those games.
If doing pure story then probably won't take you toooooo long.... maybe. But if also doing substories (fcking DO THEM) then expect about 40+ hours a game. Not counting maxing Kiryu out every game either or doing all side content like all the arenas and such. Just take it at your own pace and don't worry about taking breaks between games too.
Tomizawa and Bryce sound so off, considering they're actually American lmao. I don't know if it's intentional for some reason or another (maybe their accents are supposed to be Hawaiian, idk) but it sounds like they really struggled with their english lines lol
Bryce is especially awkward because at least Tomizawa is half-Asian, whereas Bryce seems to just be a fully white American dude, and they did multiple voice actors for different languages with other characters like Roman and Dwight, but Bryce's Japanese VA does his English lines too. It's a bit jarring.

Tomi lives in Hawaii all his life and English should have been his 1st language but instead he speak it like he's learning it from a half-assed training school in the seedy back alley of Kyoto or something. The accents are all off. Even Dwight who was supposed to be modelled after Danny Trejo doesn't do his English voiceovers if you're using the Japanese version when he's speaking in spanish and English which was odd af to me.
Dwight had two VAs in Japanese. One VA is doing the Japanese lines while the other VA did the English lines. The VA that did the English lines is Maxwell Powers, a Japanese-American based in Japan. Maxwell Powers also did some English lines as an announcer in King of Fighters 14 and 15. He also did in Ultraman Trigger.

much as i love engrish, i hope they never attempt to make japanese voice actors that clearly cannot speak english attempt to speak english again that shit took me out of way too many moments. it wouldn’t bother me at all if everyone in the games just spoke japanese, even if it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for them to do so. like how in Baki, so many characters are foreign and yet they just speak perfect japanese regardless of where they’re from, allowing them to articulate the finer points of their goofy techniques to Baki in a Yakuza-exposition-esque monologue they don’t even make the characters speak their native tongues consistently in this game, the language is actually just an accessory on their character.

They have hired some native speaking English people, like the cops in this clip and other side characters, but the taxi driver and the guy in the wheelchair who are half-Japanese and claim that they have been born and raised in Hawaii, speak broken English, which makes no sense. There are some bilingual voice actors out there, who speak Japanese and English fluently, couldn't they hire them? They hired some B-list Japanese celebrities for some random side characters and Inami Anju for a major character, but they can't hire even semi-professional bilingual actors? Also why do some White and Black cops in the game speak perfect Japanese with a Tokyo accent? Impossible, unless they were born in Japan, or are half-Japanese and grew up bilingual, but they don't really look that way to me. I mean, you can't tell someone's nationality by looks alone and there are plenty of Black and White native Japanese people out there, including celebs, but the chances they would work for the US police are slim. Yakuza devs usually try to make things authentic, for example characters from Osaka and Hiroshima will speak their respective dialects, Chinese and Korean's will speak their own dialect, etc. But in this game they fucked up big time. They literally hired a wajin to voice a Black American cop lol.
