Ótimo entrevista! Estou muito ansioso para o novo álbum, na boa, não tem como ser ruim, vai ser incrível! Dia 15/12 estarei lá, a nova tour tb promete! 🙌🏻👊🏻
Ticket sales prob says all that needs to be said. They’re selling out some large venues now whereas the last two tours were lackluster if you looked at the Ticketmaster seating chart.
In other interviews thay said that Portnoy they met at school and know each other since they are like 18yo or something. They had been togheter for a long time. He is a close frined and almost familly member to them. When he left the way he did it created a separation. But time have healed the scars, they got back in touch. It is not about the money like the others say. It is about rebounding a special friendship. They just got that back when they started to get back in touch. There is a magic bond between them and it just made sense to get back Portnoy in.
This reunion lasts four years, max. He's already nudging his way into taking control of the band again with the setlist piece. I guarantee he'll be overly involved in the production of the latest album, and it won't be long before he starts complaining about James' live performances again. After all, he was with two great singers in his last projects in JSS and RA. Will he really be content with JL's live performances? People like to think they can change, but they don't. This is like the abused spouse who takes back the abuser because "This time will be different." Hint: it never is different. Mangini is too good of a person for this group.
That, or the 4 other guys know that the nursing home is calling on to them fast so they, especially Jordan and John Petrucci would prefer that DT close out with the classic lineup. Other than that, I agree with most of your predictions. The only accurate way of picturing them is that it's an abusive spouse who has come back to amputate his wife of that sickly throat tumor that has plagued her for years because it remains to be seen whether Portnoy will stoop down to being Labrie's bootlicker or not.
They did a similar thing to Derek Sherinian and it was one of the best decisions they could have made. Your feelings don't dictate what they feel as a band is best for them. And I'm not trying to be a dick, I feel kinda bad about it but having Portnoy in is a wise business decision.
@@bryanthompson973, Derek has made some incredible music since they fired him from DT. In fact, his latest effort with Whom Gods Destroy is some of the best music I have heard in years.
@@sickofyou4408 The attraction to see Portnoy one last time with DT is a red herring to distract people from the obvious live problem in order to improve concert ticket sales.
@@ejRecording I like James and don't want to sound mean. But live he sounds whiny, feels like he has to push hard to get those notes out while in the end not having that much power. It looked embarasing when he was signing along Devin Townsend (2023 tour) that had so much control and power in his signing. That said I would not want to see James been replaced. He his the voice of that band and imo it would change everything if someone else would be the signer. Would not feel like the same band at all.
@@endlessorbaggins8223 terrible take, he should be replaced, I'm basically not going to their concerta because I don't want to pay that kind of money to listen to his terrible performances, he can't even sing last albums songs
@@endlessorbaggins8223 what is with this L take of "it would not feel like the same band at all if Labrie quits" BS? Are DT loyalists really living under a rock for that long? BRO!! It hasn't been the same band for way too long because this James Labrie is far from the vocalist that blew our minds in 1992 and 2012.
James seems like an awesome dude. Wish him the best with his voice on the tour. Album will no doubt be amazing vocally.
"Album will no doubt be amazing vocally" JAJAJAJAJA. Anyone can sing in studio. If you mean "live", check out the garbage concert in Rio last year.
@@josenunez313 at least we know the album will sound good. Maybe he’ll be able to pull it off more consistently live this tour.
Thank you for the interview! It was interesting to hear from James's point of view why Portnoy was brought back into the band.
GREAT interview, Thank you!
Looking forward to the new album and please come to Singapore, I had tickets for 2020 and it got cancelled. 🤘🏻
Great interview, thanks!

Good to get news from Dream Theater. Thank you
Can't wait for this tour to hit Montréal, Québec! great interview!
Thanks for sharing this! 3h shows! Wow. I hope they can play Erotomania! Abraço
Ótima entrevista parabéns, ansioso por esse novo álbum
Thanks for asking about the plans after Europe and South America. I'm stoked that North America is planned for early '25.

Will Mike change up each show a little, like he always does? When does this EPIC show hit the states?
i hope they play barstool warrior and breaking all illusions from the Mangini era.
Obrigado pela entrevista! Ansioso pro novo álbum!
New album 💿🙏😍
I love James, I really love his voice, but sometimes it is OK to step aside so as not to literally destroy what is left of his voice.
Eu vou estar la no dia 20/10! 🤘🏻
Boa! Eu tb vou
“🙄 Canada too…” 🤣
He didn't convince me about the reasons they took Mike Portnoy back.
Dont need your approval
Real reason is money

I'm still sore about them firing Mangini. I really enjoyed the Mangini era albums and his personality

Singing on studio albums sounds great, but live is totaly horror. I can't listen to DT live anymore.

I can't imagine thinking as negatively as you.
This is simple PR from JL.What they did to Mangini is a crime.Taking back Portnoy is a bad decision.Poor explanation .Not convincing at all.Pure BS.

JAMES, QUIT THE LIVE SHOWS PLEASE, GET SOMEONE THERE TO REPLACE, YOU CAN BARELY TALK LET ALONE SING
They took Portnoy back cause James can’t sing on pitch anymore
How could those 2 things be related at all
Except when I saw them twice on their DOT tour and was right in front of his stage monitor. He was dead on the whole night.

For Me, Singer 🎤 Weak... My Opinion 😎🤘
Your opinion sucks
One of the best prog vocalists of all time, fits the band perfectly
