    The dawet is made from: Coconut milk, lemongrass, and a leaf called pandan. So no rose water. The coloring is done either with green food coloring or red food coloring or red cola essence.
    The jelly's are called Tjendol (Chendol in English). Made from cornflour that is boiled with water and then poured over in a water can with big holes. Everything that leaks out of the water can falls then in to ice cold water and that forms these tiny bubbles.

    • @SheldonY14
      @SheldonY14 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@sarawinardi6745 it could be yes. But in Suriname we do not use tapioca. That is only used in modern drinks, made by modern restaurants.
      I mean the Javanese in Suriname came here 130 years ago. So yeah the descendents of these people also adjusted to the other Surinamese people. With out the javenese Suriname would not be what it is today.

    As a Surinamese citizen I can say you do have a great tour guide. There’s always room for his guiding experience. That’s maybe because he’s a tour guide and not a food expert. Actually no. A tour guide should know everything about his country. Not only the places but also the food. And he should be able to speak decent English so he can communicate better with the tourists. A tour guide should be well trained and educated and they should have a usual agenda for the tourists, but it doesn't look like Jenny tours gives the guides they hire any training.

    Dawet in Java Indonesia (INA) is not the same as in Suriname (SUR). Dawet is cendol in Indonesian; a green pandan jelly drink with palm sugar and coconut milk.
    The Javanese in SUR cannot speak the lingua franca of INA (Indonesian), they migrated to SUR before the country INA was established.
    What you get in SUR is adjusted Javanese food, not Indonesian food (300+ ethnic groups with their own cuisines).

This video, and the other two that you have made, really capture the melting pod of different kinds of foods Surinam has to offer. Every single one of us also gets along with each other just fine too😁. This is Surinam!! Thank you, thank you! Feeling home sick😭💪🏾❤❤ (We want more!)

    This is the very best thing that happened to me, seeing you enjoy Suriname cause if you would ask someone in North America or Europe they wouldn't even know that this country exists. But yet there is so much more to Suriname and I really hope you get to enjoy everything that makes this country so awesome. Different cultures with their food, all delicious. Beautiful places to relax and enjoy nature. Enjoy! You have yet so many places to visit! And don't forget our country made beer. PARBO BIER
