Hello BeeBop. New tank here. Why are you using aggressive shift on the Great sword? Doesn’t it make more sense to stay in the defiance stance as much as possible?
@@FloTechDE because I want to do damage to help eliminate mobs. That is why I also use trenchant strikes instead of trenchant recovery on the greatsword. I can always switch to my hammer if needed for cc or health recovery. I usually play with groups that do a lot of damage and if I’m not aggressive, I could lose aggro. Now if I’m doing the raid then yes I should not be using it and be staying in defiant stance.
Thx for the videos, very helpful. New to tanking NW but having a blast with it. My group is just getting into the mutated expeditions, M1 doesn't seem too bad but trying to gear up and learn more before M2/3. I'm partial to the Flail/Shield and Warhammer or GS. I haven't been switching to SNS on bosses but will definitely start doing that for the Leadership. I realize there are bis build variations for different dungeons, mobs, and bosses. I came over from eso tanking so nothing new there. But until I get more familiar with each dungeon mechs, to keep it simple for my tiny brain, would flail/shield and war hammer or greatsword on mobs then switch to SNS w/flail and shield be alright? Our group has been tinkering with group comp and deciding whether the dps should run the Warhammer and Great Axe, would this be viable or should I just keep Warhammer on as alt?
@@maadsc1ent1st22 I always think the tank should keep the warhammer on him unless he’s in a boss fight or raid. If you watch me tank on certain dungeons, I will use sns/flail on boss fights. I do it in Tarn for both bosses, ennead for last two bosses, depths last boss and much more. There is not 1 setup… being a tank you have to adjust to each dungeon/boss and so much more. I’ll make a video on it
what do you think about SNS with Flail as a tanking option ? seems like it would be a good set up for content. Im new to NW, used to tank all the the time in ESO and always used SNS on both front bar and back bar but with some different taunting perks. The one thing I wish NW had was some way to chain enemies to you like ESO with leash
@@scottcunni that would be dope. Yes sns and flail I run all the time against bosses or a lot of the time I should say. The thing about using it through the main dungeon is the lack of a hammer for cc. On 90% of bosses it’s idea setup. You can fortify and empower your teammates with bludgeon and then go right back to the sword.
@@MoNoXiDe They are heavy armor pieces with a tower shield. You get them by running m3 mutations, and you can craft them in the gypsum kilm. To add a perk you will need an armor matrix and 3 chromatic seals from your faction vender. Stop by my stream today and I will show you. I stream on twitch.
hey, i'm a new ps5 player and not pro by any means at all but i did notice i had to switch from light attack cooldowns to heavy attacks because i was just getting bounced around by mobs trying to light attack.
@@CaptnDutchie yeah I think you are on the correct path. Sadly sns feels terrible in pve now. I told everyone before the patch greatsword tanking is coming back, and here it is. Good to know about the hammer. That really will affect things.
@@BeeBopGamingso with the changes to grit on sns, is great sword better? my only concern is M3s with GS? or do you think sns is still gonna be better in M3s?

When I have my equipment, I'll show you what I built after you share your knowledge with us. 👍🏻
