Which grit nylon wheel were you using on the Makita? I notice there are available in 80 grit, 100 grit, 240 grit.

I wish there was some sort of a "mount" for either of these so that it could be used like a "drum" brush/sander.... to slide wood under it.... I need to be able to take off the charred burned wood when I do Sho Sugi Ban art projects.
Maybe you could show how to make one

What's the roughest wire brush you can get for the Makita. I want to use it for making a rustic/driftwood/weathered effect on old floorboards .

Hi...I think you can get a wire brush, you need to check Makita's website. Thanks for watching, Wes

Also the decibel/noise levels between tools may also factor in.

Great review Wes! I could hear that the Makita was doing a better job 👍👍👍👍

It looks like the restorer Wes is using has a nylon XXX grit wheel on it. There is a stainless steel wheel available that is indicated for raising the grain on wood, also sold on amazon.

I have both tools, and the Makita is a workhorse. The Restorer bogs down when pressure is applied to the chassis, but to its credit, the motor seems to be able to handle it. The Restorer is good for small jobs. I'd work on a few boards with the Restorer, but I'd work on an entire deck with the Makita. Also, the Makita has a wire wheel, and you were using a nylon wheel on the Restorer. The Makita would still win, but your side by side comparison isn't accurate. You should use a wire wheel on the Restorer to keep comparisons on par.

Our stainless wire wheel is ideal for that 👍🏼
