I agree. I don’t share any lip gloss, brush, comb, etc with anyone, much less a stranger. Don’t know anyone that does. Stupid even to ask to borrow. I am an American also.
Quite agree- it’s simply not done, my last year at Grammar school a friend lent her lip gloss to her friend merely hours later she was in ICU with meningitis transmitted by an infection from the lip gloss , sadly she passed away .

I lost about half of my teeth from a mixture of physical violence, and the following depression and lack of financial means to get them fixed while they were still salvageable. I used to love fashion and that died with the loss of what I perceived my beauty to be dependent on. In my youth I was a competitive dancer on an international scale. I had lost my ability to feel pretty following the loss of my smile, many years ago.
I started watching you about 2 years ago and have since fully embraced my love of fashion, my love of dressing up, and my love of campiness.
You have an impact far beyond what you realize, with your show. Thank you River, for helping this broken and sad Alaskan native feel a little less broken and far less sad. You have helped me embrace a silliness, and a confidence that I thought had been destroyed. You are phenomenal in everything you post.

I saw the Princess of Wales presenting trophies at Wimbledon and it struck me how she kept back from the limelight and let it focus on the players. It would have been very different if Meghan had been there, trying to hog all the attention
MM might have tried to do what she did at that one polo match where she paraded with trophy and tried to steal an award from a player.
Have you seen the footage of Meagain encroaching on Harry and the Polo team accepting a winner's Cup? It was cringeworthy.

I can imagine MM being jealous. Catherine is beautiful, to me she looks just like her dad. She hit the genetic lottery with her body, height and face. She is a natural beauty. Meghan is not bad, but she has had a lot of work done to look “not bad.” Catherine doesn’t even have to try.

Very good point about the natural stunning beauty of Catherine and the so-so acceptable look of Meghan, which took a lot of work (nose job, hair straightening, skillful make up sculpting, etc.) Still, Meghan does not do things with her wardrobe which would help, such as wearing clothes that fit and that are not wrinkled, and wearing clothes that flatter her shape instead of accentuating the problem areas. Ah, well, she didn’t ask my advice…

This morning the Royal Family YT channel released clips of the family’s arrival at Wimbledon this morning. It brings a smile to the faces of people of good will.

I was one of those people who would never have been seen dead in a charity shop.
Then I was asked by a close friend to help her out she was an area manager for a well known Scottish charity as she has been left in the lurches it were. Reluctantly I agreed.
Long story short
I was soon a passionate convert.
You would be stunned at what walks through the doors everything from the sublime to the ridiculous.
I had been informed by friends who had managed charity shops they it was a common thing for volunteers to operate a scheme in their own favour so I instantly put a scheme in place for ALL those working in the store whether salaried or volunteer paid half ticket prices.I was laughed at told we would instantly lose money we didn't.rather our sales increased dramatically.
Personally I have bought several amazing items. My wardrobe changed virtually overnight.
I wear an unusual show size and we received a donation of 6 steamer trunks . They contained almost entirely brand new items some from early 60's to present time. Vintage Dior, Channel,several ball gowns nearest ballgrowns from 50's and so many items from 20's onward all bagged professionally with under garments shoes, handbag and jewellery honestly unbelievable. Boxes containing classic perfume including believe it or not several bottles of what was one of late Queens favourite *Joy* none had been opened and all remained as the specialist contacted stated to be sweet.
I sold many on to professional bodies like BBC, Theatre Royal, the then STV. Some outfits that had been worn often or that had some light damages were donated to my favourite muesem in Glasgow ( Kelvingrove)
The local theatres also received donations
Me I was literally the only staff member who could wear them or liked the styles available. Including one smaller size trunk full of vintage classic shoes. After they had been offered on sale at truly exceptional prices only managing to sell one pair. Rather than dispose of them I bought the lot. I'm still wearing them to this day. Some extremely well known respected names indeed. Many were hand made Italian and there were 7 pairs of plain black court shoes all beautiful and slightly different.

I am not defending Princess Catherine, however, I would never lend my lipstick or lip gloss to ANYONE! It is neither sanitary nor healthy. I was horrified when I heard Megan asked to borrow Catherine’s lip gloss. Hopefully, Catherine discarded it and switched to a new “uncontaminated” one. How rude is asking to borrow such a personal cosmetic.

I am somewhat sad that no one appears to realize that the noise upset Louis. This is real because certains types of noises goes through my body and it hurts. I am a full grown adult, Louis is a child and maybe he will grow out of it or it may continue but right now it is hard to bear.
I did notice how the engine noise bothered him. I’m a former Air Force spouse…..I know firsthand how loud planes are. Noise affects people in different ways. I’ve been known to put my hands over my ears too.
I’ve always hated loud sudden noises and will leave an area if I anticipate something as minor as balloons popping.
Yes he might have sensitive ears, my kid has sensory disorders, noises can make her gag, I can’t vac when she’s home, and touch hurts her too. I’m sure Catherine has access to the best drs, so I hope they bring it to their attention.

RIVER, I love love love your tip jar corner episodes showing us your treasures. I’m 60 years old and have been thrift shopping from the age 9 with my parents and 7 siblings because that was what they could afford. I hardly buy new. Don’t give away your secret locations.
In our dressing up box there was a black crushed velvet coat. We all fought over it. But there was the little green apron with ricrac on it if you were playing the maid in charades. That was pretty good too. Everyone should have a dressing up box

Thank you for introducing me to Barbara Cartland! Her white PEKINGESE doggie caught my eye! I’ve had two white, Pekingese puppy dogs; Phoebe & Isabella. They are the perfect little companions!!! I also had my bedroom done in turquoise and coral! I love those two colors!! I decorated with green ferns and mirrors. People always said it felt like “Florida”. I love vivid colors and lots of jewelry too!!! My grandchildren call me “Glam-Ma”💎😊. I’m a 70 yr old Southern Baptist widow who enjoys all the beauty the Lord created this side of heaven!!!
Your dinner lady numbers remind me of the housecoats my nana always wore. These were nylon affairs that she wore over her outfit when doing housework to keep her day dress clean. Those patch pockets were handy for stuffing dusters, or a handkerchief. Once she was finished working, or if unexpected visitors came calling, the housecoat would be discarded and there she was in her tweed skirt and twin set looking as though she'd never flicked a duster in her life!

I had a Scottish granny, who did exactly the same … only she had posh housecoats for visitors which she would wear over her twinsets and tartan skirts! Would you believe that you can still buy similar style floral wrap housecoats in a garden centre (!), of all places, not far from us here in France. There’s a small rail of them, which seem to have been there forever … maybe I should buy one!😉
River, I never watched your thrift store finds before and I'm so glad I did this time. Your appreciation for so many things is just so nice to see. Your a truly interesting person.
I had to laugh about the soaps because I do that too! A local store carries these incredible soaps and the first time I bought two and put one in the closet where I keep medicine, hair products etc and it made it smell so nice that I've continued to rotate different soaps in there. I also put one on my nightstand. The fragrances are light, clean and a bit intoxicating!

I use the fragrant soaps all the time for air fresheners, in the closets and drawers with clothing. They are long lasting too. Glad to see you do that as well.

Dear River, I add fragrance soaps to my linen and clothing cupboards. So nice. Lavender is especially good for storing winter woolens as it deters moths. Enjoy you all the time here in Washington state.
I do the same with Yardley's English Lavender. It was Queen Elizabeth's favorite soap. It's what she bathed with and what they stocked in the bathrooms at the royal palaces.

That jacket is inspired by the works of Toulouse Lautrec - when I looked closely I could see bits of them reproduced in the print. Rouge obviously refers to the Moulin Rouge, hence the red lining. Marvellous find!

My Dearest River, asking to borrow someone's lipgloss is just unhygienic & downright disgusting. You don't share lip products or mascara for fear of contamination from germs. You might as well aske to use someone's personal toothbrush or used feminine hygiene products. And, there is NO WAY that the Spare's future ex-wife grew up as a girl learning how to use makeup that she didn't know that! It's something that you learn as a toddler when your mother lets you use Chapstick for the first time. She was just pushing Princess Catherine's boundaries to see how far she could go & to entrap her with a claim of racism when she was sensibly rebuffed. The fact that Sparry cannot understand why people don't share lip products says more about his own lack of intellect than anything about Catherine's predilections.

I love the “frock”, although my Grandma called them house dresses, with the embroidered collar. My Portuguese Grandma did exquisite embroidery. I have a set of beautiful embroidered pillowcases she made for me.

Every once in a while you mention something from your past or childhood etc that reminds me of my younger years. I get fascinated trying to figure out how old you are, but I would never ask! I’m loving the subtle colour palette, with this dismal late autumnal weather we definitely need to put a bit of colour back in the day.
I love St Ives, I was there 10 days ago. But It feels longer.
I love seeing the little glances between William & Catherine. You can see how much they love and adore each other. These little glances shout their genuine feelings louder than all that clinging and grasping that ‘the others’ do. And I’m glad that the photographer caught Catherine treating William to a subtle little bottom pat at the Scottish crowning ceremony. Catherine is a total goddess, but it’s nice that we get to see a little bit of an impish side to her as well. You can see William is very proud of her. My grandmother bought me Barbara Cartland books when I was 13. I was in love with her persona and her older novels especially. They do get redundant after the 200th😂. I kept my favorites to this day. Such a big part of my teenage years. Cartland was a character that's for sure. Not boring.

I used to have a jacket with a similar cut to your multicolor one. It was a slightly translucent, iridescent peacock color My son used to wear it with a black t-shirt and black jeans for parties and other occasions. Between the two of us, we eventually wore it out. It originally came from a charity shop!
River what is it with Meghan’s constant wearing of her white wrinkled shirt? I know the picture of Diana with the hanging sunglasses hangin that she copied, but why in your opinion is the constant go to in lots of pics? It’s a wrinkly mess.
River, the lavendar soaps are wonderful in sweater drawers and closets to keep moths out.
The sage are perfect in winter baskets full of scarves, gloves and outerwear, freshening up after being active.
Lavender also keeps spiders away.
The lovely cup and saucer would be perfect for orange peko tea.

I love your brightly-colored silk jacket, River! Silk is my favorite fabric, with that lovely shimmer it has. I also love your orangey fascinator! We Americans don't wear hats or fascinators much at all, and it's a real shame. The exception is black ladies when they go to church. They dress to the nines and wear pretty hats to church. You have a great sense of style and accessorizing, too, dearest River, as well as an instinct for what colors look good on you. I enjoy your fruity broadcasts so much!
