    Excellent machines at Househam.
    The choice of sprayers, and the technology they utilise is certainly to a very high standard.

      That would be a few years ago, I think they stopped making the mono in 2002/3. Simon’s not changed much!

    Have a look at a sands. I cannot recommend them enough. The sprayers are seriously well built and the back up is amazing

    I've heard about the help given to farmers of severe weather events, didn't know the name of you're charity or that it was you who created it but absolutely fantastic Andrew! You should be proud! I'm proud of you also great that you give someone young without any or much experience the opportunity to get into farming.
    Nice to see you take you're staff to see the building of these machines, do you decide with them on what is best to buy for your operation?
    The Chaffer sprayer does look very well built, I particularly like the rounded off edges too, shows attention to detail, I'm amazed at the hp output of sprayers these days but they weigh a lot when full of water and if you've steep terrain would need that power. What's the chances of Claydon loaning you a drill of a season?
    I've never heard of Dale drills but they do look very good for Clarence and being adaptable which these days could be very useful.
    Wish I could visit on the drill day but unfortunately not possible. I do hope you can do an indepth review of the drills that attend on the day, be great to see.
    Sorry for talking so much but I had a lot to say this video and this is definitely one of your best videos to date.
    Do you think you'll be making more passes with the stubble rake this year?
    Presumably lowers the amount of chemical needed?
    Not sure heard Simon right, sounded like he said they only use 14 to 16l a hectare with the stubble rake and drilling? That can't be right? He said it when you were both in the disco.
    Have a great week Andrew.

      Thanks for the comments, a few people have said the update was one of my best.
      I do always include the staff in decisions on machinery and they know how much we paid and repair bills.
      I’ll do an in-depth review on the drills so you’ll be able to see it. We’re not sure on the effectiveness of the rake yet, need more time. The fuel figure you heard was correct. Their 15m rake will have huge output at 25k forward speed.

    Stick with the stubble rake. I thought the same at first didn't seem to be doing anything. But more you use it the better like Claydon said.
    Also good to use after the drill if to moist for rolling.
    Maybe good for establishing cover crops with a broadcaster on?

      We had a couple of spring barley fields which we harrowed twice and it did a good job. I’d wondered about using it after the drill. Thanks for the feedback, 👍😃

    Another interesting video on chafer and dale drill Andrew,have you got a weaving sabretine booked in on your drilling demo on 4 th april,just bought a 6 m plastic hopper one last march,cracking drill,good in wet clay after running a vaderstad for 10 years.

      Yes we have! I’ve liked the look of them for ages. Thanks for the reply.

    Another good video. Would be interested to attend on the 4th April. I ordered a new drill last month and can hopefully make use of the equipment and technology grant I’ve applied for to help towards it.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to order a Weaving Sabretine but thought I’d wait until we’d tried a few and hope we can get in the next round of grants. What have you ordered?

    • @willduch3008
      @willduch3008 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually ordered a 6m Weaving Sabretine! Presently run a 6m KV tineseeder, really good drill as far as tineseeders go. Basically standard tineseeders such as my KV need quite a lot of tilth, where as a sabretine only needs a little tilth. My idea is to reduce cultivations and “play” with possible direct drilling, such as osr drilling and drilling 1st wheat into osr/bean stubble. I have two friends locally, one running a Dale and the other a Claydon. Both have done so for a few years now and get on ok but not without a lot of fussing. Another farmer locally bought a new Weaving Sabretine last year and got on really well with his autumn drilling.
      I’m running on! but I don’t think I’m ready in myself to commit to direct drilling although the Sabretine is hopefully a move in that direction especially with government policy, SFI etc…

      Just been told the equipment and technology grant scheme has been 3 times over subscribed. I wasn’t holding out that we’d qualify for all or some of the grant, but it’s not looking overly positive.

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willduch3008 You’re right, it has been massively over subscribed, will be interesting to see how they sort out who is successful.

    Re the rake, do you need to wait until the weeds etc germinate? Does 4 rake passes a week apart then Glyphosate kill more weeds than one pass left for a month pre spray? The compaction caused by four passes with a big tractor, particularly in a wetter season. (My rainfall av is 760mm, so a bit wetter than you) Thanks

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m with you on the compaction issue with x4 passes with the rake but it doesn’t seem to be with people I know using the system. I think the 4 passes creates tilth and also reduces slug eggs. With glyphosate rocketing in price, using a straw Harrow and only one glyphosate might be the way. I’ll touch on it this week.

    I got a couple of articles sent to me this week, the first was on the rise and rise of autoimmune diseases and the second was about the disappearance of so many insects. Im not saying it is farm chemicals but I think they will get the blame first, cancer rates are climbing there could be multiple other reasons but those chemicals you are using I think will be history soon. I had an amazing clover crop this year with hardly any bees in sight, if we leave a window open and a light on we used to get a room full of bugs, not so much today, yet I hardly ever spray and never blanket.
    What are your thoughts?

    • @WardysWaffleAndrewWard
      @WardysWaffleAndrewWard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have an abundance of insects. I’m the summer when our flower margins are at their best, they are literally buzzing, I’ll do a video on them nearer the time. 99.9% of products the WHO have tested are carcinogenic! There has to be a balance with everything.
