Great video Wayne cracking codling it will make some nice fish and chips hope you have had a nice holiday or having one looking forward to seeing some fish from the med tight line mate 🐟🎣👍
Hello Wayne-I was always told that at 6lbs a codling traditionaly becomes a cod, and that was always written in sea angling articles and literature, so that is what I have always stuck to, but it could have changed but not that I have heard of any change-nice fish mate, well done.
I agree 100% on using identical rods. The only exception being if each rod has a different target species. The reason that I won't use tip lights is that watching the rod tips closely can tell me so much. Not just bites but the prelude to bites, the run of the tide, crab activity and small fish activity. What I can read from my own rod tips I can't always read from other people's rods as you get to know your own rods and how the tips behave. You can even tell if a fish is hooked or not yet hooked, you can also often tell what species is biting. To me it makes fishing so much more interesting than just waiting for a flashing light or change of colour. It also means that you can pick out a bite in the roughest of conditions when the tips are bouncing around with wind and wave action. Brilliant video as always.
Tough work Wayne, but I guess you can’t complain with a daytime Chesil codling. You need one of those underwater camera thingy’s to see what’s down there 🤞🐟🎣
Hi wayne you ok pal, well done on your codling, i'm counting down the days till late september till we get are best fishing on the humber estuary till march. Ive already got my freezer ramned with raps of bkacks n packs of squid lol. All the best wayne from GRIMSBY.
me v Chesil and my first beach caught cod. The beach is still winning. After 46 years the beach is still winning. Despite a great trip this time last year with the famous Dave M. I helped him by bringing in his rod that had two cod on the penal rig, while he was realing in another fish on his other rod. lol. Close but not there yet.
@@TheShoreHunter I just missed you by a few mins at ferry bridge the other day. Apparently the weed was shocking. So you had gone home. I recon it was the day after you had been around our shores with Steve and Stu. Looking for a stingray wasn’t it? Any way. We turned up and you had gone. The locals were also coming of the beach after a good session with bream. We ended up down at west bex. Weed was ok. Fishing was shite.
A codling is considered a cod when it hits maturity to adult which is around 4 years old. The average weight of a cod this age is around 2.51kg or 5.5lbs. Those are the official stats for the Atlantic Cod.
Keep it going bruv nice fish my mate and his son are on there way back from chesil beach as I type they fished yesterday and last night few fish nothing to brag about good video good channel
Hi Wayne, regularly watch your videos. Want to progress with my beach fishing, so was wondering what rods youd recommend for Chesil and Bristol Channel. Would be using Penn Fathom CS ive been given. Have been using conti style and fixed spool reels, but used multipliers previously. Have yet to progress to pendulum from just over head thump. Many thanks in anticipation Jon
Cracking video again Wayne love all your videos i watch everyone big thumbs up for the cod can I ask what part of chesil your on its a long way for me to come but might be worth a session if I'm aloud 😂👍👍🎣
