I bought Ungaro III over a couple of years ago based on your review and I absolutely loved that fragrance since. I am happy to say I also love the oud version. Very different oud fragrance based on our, pepper and cardamom. Very refined, extremely long lasting. I am typing this 11 hours after I sprayed it and it now still smells strong, like pumpkin spice weridly. Can't wait to hear people try it and talk about it.

I think you missed something. Prada pour homme intense screams niche scent, quality, performance overall. also Narciso Rodriguez for him musc or edt or edp they all smell unique n niche quality to me.

Frag Hag and Frag Hat? Too funny...love it! You two are an awesome pair! Some excellent choices...I don't agree with all of 'em, but they're all quality fragrances no less. Okay, my issues are: (you just know I had to provide my two-cents) - Midnight in Paris: excellent fragrances, but it's way too feminine and my daughters love using it. At least it's not as girly (pre-teen aged girls) as Dior Homme and DHI. LOL! - Ungaro Pour Homme III: perhaps the original formulation, but the currently formulation is just an okay fragrances IMO. - M Generation: I don't see it...just a okay designer light-incense fragrances IMO. Sorry. :(

While the one I thought I remembered smelling was a completely different fragrance and I loved it The one I smelled that was Ungaro Pour L'Homme III smelled really airy and sharp, not musky at all. It was a different fragrance. The two I've smelt thus far are the musky version. Do you know if there's a sharp version that I'm trying to discribe?
Bentley Intense! Love that stuff. Question though, I've being planing on buying Chambre Noire but, will it be a redundant purchase? I have never smelled that one.

But it’s very hard to tell which note(s) in particular since the latter has too many notes listed...but the similarity is obvious: these are the only fragrances that induce a bit of nausea when I wear them. It’s a strange sharp accord
If you like designer, but niche quality smelling frag try Fan di Fendi flanker "assoluto"....smells very woody with a hint if oud wood in there! Anyway enjoyed your video. :)
Holy cow! Bentley Intense For Men takes the crown?! I'm still trying to pull it off. It's very luxurious feeling. I think the incense is what keeps me from enjoying it more.
Hi Seb, I know we all have our own noses, takes and opinions but to me BI and Icon, decently good each in its own right, to me are no way near niche scents in my opinion. They just smell like strong, complex designer. Anyhow, great review in general. :)
Since I totally in love with pure malt & ch men prive, I blindly ordered bentley intense for men through online..I haven't test it yet bcoz it's hard to find in my local retailers #fingerscrossed

you are right about Ungaro, till now it is the only rose fragrance that i like, i would pick up this over the Amouage lyric without think twice ,i don t like it at all.
What does "smelling like niche" mean to you? To me, "niche" is more about expressing something new in fragrance, some unconventional idea or approach, whereas "designer" is more about target groups and marketing. It's got nothing to do with quality - in fact, there are niche fragrances that use their niche status as an excuse for just sloppy craftsmanship. There are also independent shops that one might classify as niche but which produce incredibly well-made but "classic" perfumes, and so "independent" is also not the same as "niche" (think Nicolai). And it' s also not so much about price, there are niche shops (very few, I admit) that strive to make their products accessible at reasonable prices, and there are many horribly overpriced run-of-the-mill designer scents. Much of your list to me seems of the good & affordable, but somewhat unremarkable category (like the Bentley or Dunhill). Boring in the sense that when you can immediately name five other smells that you are reminded of, where's the innovation? I think that is really what "niche" is all about: innovation and adventurousness. Knowing only a few of those scents on your list, I'd be curious which of them you would qualify as innovative and adventurous. And what it is that you really mean by "smelling like niche".

Turkish resto here in SF? Go to A La Turca or Gyro King for fast food type ones. And for more of a sit down one go to Tuba! :)
