    everyone comments that these videos are relaxing, but i'd like to mention that it's fantastic as someone with autism in particular. No sudden volume changes, no "hype", nothing surprising at all - except the cool chess moves themselves! In a world where intentional overstimulation "for engagement" is basically the norm, you're an absolute angel ❤

    4:28 in my tiny brain, I don't see the weakness. King is defending that pawn directly and the bishop and pawn in FRONT of it are defending it indirectly. I would not have a clue that f7 is weak in any way at 4:28. :( I mean it's one defender weaker when the rook moves but you have to move pieces in a chess game, no? oh well...

    Hey! I am doing it the same way :) - when the promo square is well defended and i capture/promote i do it into some not valuable piece - so oponent need to waste a tempo to capture it ;) - some oponents dont capture - but for sure they would capture if it was a queen :)

    I think one of the reason might be he had the knight in his hand. He has to ask for extra queen. He could have used the dead rook. Funny either way. I would never do that cause i would worry about it not being forcing and opponent having some insane tactic to win the game.

    The knight promotion threatens RxB mate. So 27. ... Kg8 28. Nf6+ (not sure which one) gxNf6 29. Nf6+ and the queen is forked.

    • @That1GuyWhosNumber1
      @That1GuyWhosNumber1 ปีที่แล้ว

      While true, if it's a queen promotion, there's still a threat of RxB mate. If you're analyzing 27. ...Kg8 to defend the bishop, with a queen promotion it's RxB# instead of just winning the queen.
      It doesn't actually matter what the pawn is promoted to; the engine lines all call for Rxe8 after promotion.

    • @darrenwebb2779
      @darrenwebb2779 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@That1GuyWhosNumber1 Well good for the engine. In the world of spoofing there is just a chance a human might miss the mate in one threat due to the surprise. Don't forget Jerry was in the world of why?

    • @That1GuyWhosNumber1
      @That1GuyWhosNumber1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darrenwebb2779 I think my position re: "why" is that Jerry was right to say "it's because he's funny," (plus no downside), a way, way, way more likely expectation than "he was praying his grandmaster opponent would hang mate in one in a classical game."

    The knight promotion gives black a tiny chance to mess up, the queen promotion does not. So the knight promotion is in theory the marginally better move. Maybe the reasoning is that simple? 🤪
