Yes I agree. That is one of the reasons I have not felt drawn to New age spiritual communities. They are not stable and people come and go. I love bruderhof community because it is stable and the root of your cohesion is Christ's teachings.

What a meaningful chapter! What I picked up was the idea that with blessings come responsibilities. You could tie that into the parable of the talents.

Very good insight. Yes the demands made are great, seemingly impossible without the experience of grace

@@Bruderhof This is a really hard concept to grasp. We live our worldly lives based on equations - eg you work 9 hours therefore you will be paid for 9 hours. God's grace is such that he gives you many, many hours pay before you even get up in the morning....

Thank you for bearing witness! Gelassenheit: let go *identifying with*, attending to, our created/human thoughts to put on the Mind of Christ in the present moment. Simply don't cling to, identify with thoughts and thinking. Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God."(World English Bible) Allowing our mind to be quiet, still. Seeing things as they are. Being still/present WHOLE is the heart of Zen/Chan Buddhist meditation.

This is a great chapter. Your comment concerning focus on Christ at the 7:22 mark was "spot on."
At the 7:35 mark, Gelassenheit was explained. A while back I put a note in my Bible on Gelanssenheit, referencing 2 Timothy 2:22-26.
Finally, thanks for taking the time to make the clarification at the end from the previous video.

I think some people believe without knowing and some people know without believing……Believing & knowing is rare and community can help guide you there!

Thank you! I just watched 4 of the Bruderhof explanation videos, so I don't know a lot of who you are as a group yet, but I really appreciate the Jesus emphasis. I agree with your closing comments, that it isn't our burden to bring about conversion of a person but my reason is this...faith comes by hearing (reading/taking in/digesting) the word of God (aka Jesus, who is the word), so then, then the Holy spirit enlivens/awakens that word that is digested. I am not talking old testament. I am saying the gospel. The word is alive and the word alone will bring about the conversion, not my version of presenting it...then the word can bring the person to living in love...instead of condemnation, they can live in joy and not fear of judgment...they can have the peace that passes understanding keeping their hearts and minds in the words they have digested...whereas catholics have to eat the bread at communion, we eat the bread of the word...and the word does the work in us...bless you!! Thanks for posting videos. I look forward to more!

The reason why all other communes fail, but the Bruderhof succeeds, is indeed because of their foundation. When people join communes it's because of what they think they can get out of the experience for themselves. By contrast, to become part of a Bruderhof community one has to follow Christ. The proper way to follow Christ is to forget self and serve others. Instead of everyone taking from the whole, the Bruderhof continually contribute to the whole, thereby having enough to provide for all.

The Bruderhof have made the First Century Church a true reality for the world to see; you live together in brotherhood and share all things in common, but what about the other manifestations that accompanied the believers of that time? Paul described the gifts of the church in 1 Corinthians 12:
"And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues."
Is this the next thing that we need to see in the Church - those gifted with miracles and healing?

John 14:1 - to worry is a sin. God can create in the individual peace which passes all understanding and He does it through Faith.
