I got all the achievements for both games and Streets of Rage 4 gave me far more pleasure in my pursuit to “get good”. Streets of Rage is fantastic, but I enjoy the 6 player online coop turtles offers. I think if SoR had 4 player online it would be the better game for sure
I haven't played Shredder's Revenge. I'm just getting into SOR4. What really surprises me about SOR4 is how they made the beat 'em up genre better. It's not just a button masher like most beat 'em ups. You need skills and can do combos. You can keep getting better at SOR4. Who would think you could innovate such an old genre? I think people who don't take the time to learn the combos and just mash the punch button will prefer Shredder's Revenge. But people who invest a little time in doing the training and learning the combos will prefer SOR4.
SoR4 has a much deeper combat system, has way more playable characters, alternate movesets for each character, and more difficulty options. Shreeder's Revenge is "fine," but doesn't come close here. Both have good survival modes though
Streets of rage 4 is not as hard as people think . Just gotta put some time in and try different approaches. I'm playing through on mania+ right now on single player and it's tuff but beatable and fun .
I remember trying to play an old school button masher on my arcade with my nephew. At some point he said my fingers are tired. He got tired and bored of just mashing buttons. He had a point. That's why the genre is dead. SOR4 adds more depth so it makes it more challenging and fun. A game that's easy where you're just spaming the same buttons is for me boring and same with my nephews. But I guess to each his own.
I love both these games; as I think the best possible sequels we could get in their respective series. While it's hard to decide; I have to objectively say that SOR4 is the better game. I replay that game more overall and it's technicality in its fighting mechanics; are just a cut above ANY brat em up; even a bit more than Guardian Heroes (which was technically the best beat em up after Final Fight Arcade, until SOR4 came along). Yes I love beat em ups and there are SO MANY great ones; but objectively and technically, it's just true.
Presentation is a tie??? I love both games mind you, but you lost me. Lazy 2 bit with crt filter versus cartoon like plus lighting and shadows from SOR4* No contest -Streets of Rage 4
Without going into reasons why since I play and enjoy both, my desert island choice would be SOR4. Jim, have played Beats of Rage and TMNT Rescue Palooza?
TMNT has my favorite comic book character of all time (Usagi Yojimbo) yet SOR4 is for me not only the best beat 'em up of all time it's also in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Game is just too deep.
SOR 4 has more playable characters, better soundtrack and the gameplay is more technical. Shredders' revenge does have more nostalgic value and has been more commercialized over the years with the movies, cartoons, and action figures. SOR 4 is my choice for a gameplay franchise and replayability.
For me, the problem in this pool is that are made by some guest people who didn't clear the game, or are Nintendo kids and doesnt know much about SoR... Well, both games are incredible, but for me SoR4 have much more replay value.
Both games are high tier, and completely different from each other. It's difficult to pick especially when I've grown up with both. I have more nostalgia for TMNT because of the Arcade game when there would be a crowd of kids around the machine watching and waiting to play. I also had every title even the Gameboy games. The cowabunga collection is amazing too. I only had SOR2 growing up but SOF4 is definitely good. If I had to pick one I'd take TMNT.
Both are great games but for me Streets of Rage 4 is the better game. I don’t know what it is but fighting in Sor4 is just so satisfying. Before they added the survival mode I would play and beat the game regularly and after they added survival mode for me the game has just endless replayability. As for your assessment of TMNT dude had the same experience as I did. Before tmnt cartoon and toys came out my dad took me to a 7-11 that had comics and he bought me Raphael #1 which was a one shot featuring Raphael and told the story of how he and Casey jones met and I was hooked. When the toon and toys came out I really didn’t like it as much because of the darker tone of the comics. Glad to see someone my age stream about gaming because we had a lot of the same shared experiences
Visuals and Gameplay because of depth is for me SOR4. Soundtrack both are good. Ninja Turtles is pick up and play but the mass of enemies is not that unique as in SOR4 where you need to adapt your gameplan for each enemy group
For me a BTU is a game I can play casually with my brain turned off and the fun comes from the speed and movability of the character, allowing to react to what happens. So of course, I love Turtles in Time, SoR3 (and like Rushing Beat Ran and FF3) and of course, Shredder's Revenge. I like SoR2 but consider the 3rd one to be vastly better simply because of its gameplay. SoR2 is this kind of BTU which doesn't give you the weapons (starting by the movability) to react to what happen and requires you to anticipate, a way more frustrating gameplay for me, despite a very good game design and level design. I struggle to enjoy SoR4 because of one single thing: the fact you lose some health while performing most combos. Playing with Shiva looks fantastic, but you have to lose some health to use pretty much any combo (even some trailers of the charcater show that, with fantastic gameplay but health bar depleted in a few seconds), or play in a non casual way at all by trying hard to get very good and be sure to regain that health each time, but never being able to play without being super focused, which, to me, is extremely frustrating and not fun. Using a cheat to remove this stupid constraint would make a completely different game, juste flying everywhere with Shiva without any constraint, pure fun. For me this mechanic ruins the game.
Losing health with SPECIAL moves has been a standard in beat-em-ups since at least SOR2, if not longer. However, the way SOR4 utilizes it is much better, since you can earn back health by damaging opponents without getting hit. If you don’t want to lose health, don’t use your special moves!
@@nathandaniels4823 Losing health with special as always been a dumb idea. Most BTU had a limited set of moves and still they prevented us from using one of those few moves as much as we want. SoR3 way to implement special is way better, you can use it but can't spam it. And in the case of SoR4, it's far worse, because it's not a special move, it's a button you need for almost every combos. So you can't use those combos as much as you want without losing health, and you've to play in a specific way to use them while being sure to get your health back. It's a deal breaker for me, it makes painfull and frustrating what would be a fantastic and very fun gameplay (notably with Shiva) otherwise. Yes, if you accept to play in a non casual way and don't mind taking dozens of hours to get good enough to be able to naturally gain back that health in a non-binding way, you can probably enjoy that game quite a bit. But that's definitely not what I'm looking for in a BTU.
i just play both games, and i prefer TMNT over SOR4, for newcomer and casual player Tmnt more easier, i could finish multiple run without even knowing the button, while in SOR4 i hardly done my first run and need to go training room to enjoy the game. but still i agree SOR4 its better, polished and more advanced, i just hope sor4 implemen dash like tmnt, while in TMNT i hope there's training room (even tho i think people can finish it, without even need training)
Both games are good... Damn good! But I always felt like streets of rage 4 felt better to me. Something about the way you can execute moves in that game, and juggle your enemies if you're good enough. That's not to discredit shredder's revenge, because that game has enough in common with turtles in time, as well as pools things from the console versions and updates everything accordingly... I really wish I didn't have to choose, because like I said, both games are really good; but I think streets of rage 4 is the better game
Streets of rage 4 is the best beat em up period. I love this genre, I try to one cc these games all the time. Tmnt is really good but sor4 is just a deeper game with cleaner mechanics. When it comes to this genre I think it's the best one and that even compared to all the great classics. You should check out final vendetta, double dragon gaiden, and fight n rage for some other great more recent beat em ups
What I love the most about the art style for Streets of rage 4 is that everything looks straight out of a comic book. Even down to the dot gradients that you see when you take a magnifying glass to almost every magazine in existence.
Both are very good. Streets of rage 4 takes the edge. Better mechanics, music a bit better but both have killer soundtracks. Okay music is a tie. Lenght definitely streets of rage 4,turtles shredders revenge is a bit to long. The same problem i had with turtles in time. Drags a bit. Wich you choose. The cream of the crop both. The artstyle both 👌
As much as I love “Shredders Revenge”,it can’t touch “SOR4”. I love the DLC for both games, but “SOR4” has the edge for me just a little. I’ll be honest one of my complaints with TMNT is the pixelated look. This is a problem, because the PS5 hardware does nothing for it. “The Cowabunga Collection” makes more sense for current Gen. because of the power to run the pixels. The only thing “Shredders Revenge” does is have you pay more money for the same game with literally no difference at all! I like that they added current Gen anyway, but what’s worse with it are the controls. Having just bought the PS4 version,it is way better to play! The Cowabunga Collection responds better with the PS5 version,as they had that more in mind than PS4. “SOR4” has so much more going on,like currency, difficulty and so many unlockables. The combat is a lot strategic too, which I like. Both games however have my favorite characters being Shiva for SOR4,and Karai for “TMNT”. Another thing that ticks me off about Shredders Revenge was is original non physical release. I think when a game is released digitally,it should be released physically. Thankfully it came later on,but it made it look like to non digital players, like it was cheap. It’s not cheap at all,but what a baffling decision!🤷♂️ Its lucky it got good marketing, because had it not been physically released I would have dropped this like a hot potato. The year 2020 was a very strange year, and games weren’t being announced like normal, and sadly I heard of SOR4 later on by a TH-cam video. It does not disappoint at all,and I know the recent patch sucks, but it doesn’t ruin the game. Overall SOR4 wins🤗
Streets of rage 4 is a way better game and has more content. U can unlock new moves via training and personaliz ur characters moves to what kind of punishment u wanna give
I lean more towards SoR4, but I absolutely hate the fact that using a continue in that game sends you back to the beginning of the stage. None of the previous SoR games did that (or most beat 'em ups from what I recall), yet it just felt like the developers wanted to add an extra layer of difficulty on top of SoR4 with this choice. I don't mind a challenging game, but I felt this was a little too much.
I used to work with Thomas McCloskey who did some of the art and animation in Shredder's Revenge. So it's good to see he made something of his ability. I like them both a lot, but Turtles shades it for me for its pace and speed of combat. SoR4 can seem a little slow and plodding by comparison. This is not to say I wont play SoR4, because I do. People take this shit a little too seriously. They're different games to me and suit different moods. Shredder's Revenge is a bit borked since April is so OP and fun to use. There is a better beater than both available - Fight n' Rage is more in depth and technical where you can pull of some crazy cancels and juggle enemies for what seems like an eternity.
I have Fight n’ Rage but I just can’t get into it. Final Fight fans seem to like it though. I hate how it looks like you’re playing on a CRT with the contrast turned all the way up. I do know a lot of folks like it but I’d rather play SOR4
I'm going to watch this full video but before I do my opinion (that the vast majority of people don't care about) is SOR4 is there superior game. There are moments and shredders revenge that are more fun but I believe in totality $age 4 is better overall. Feelings?
Streets of rage the gameplay and the classic characters with swappavle moves, and tmnt the levels are better. Streets of rage needs 50% more levels though. Bew power rangers looks amazing ritas something.

Streets of rage 4 is not as hard as people think . Just gotta put some time in and try different approaches. I'm playing through on mania+ right now on single player and it's tuff but beatable and fun .
Sorry, but you just contradicted yourself there...
@@scorpinok3006 not really , there are games no matter the time you put in they're still hard as nails this isn't one of those games
Clearly you did, but your ego is too big to admit it. I'll just leave it at that...
@@scorpinok3006 got me
I remember trying to play an old school button masher on my arcade with my nephew.
TMNT Shredders Revenge
I love both these games; as I think the best possible sequels we could get in their respective series. While it's hard to decide; I have to objectively say that SOR4 is the better game. I replay that game more overall and it's technicality in its fighting mechanics; are just a cut above ANY brat em up; even a bit more than Guardian Heroes (which was technically the best beat em up after Final Fight Arcade, until SOR4 came along). Yes I love beat em ups and there are SO MANY great ones; but objectively and technically, it's just true.
Dotemu proved they can make modern beat n up, now how about Capcom gives them FInal Fight ? =)
I can agree that both games are comfortably in my top 10 beat em ups
Presentation is a tie??? I love both games mind you, but you lost me. Lazy 2 bit with crt filter versus cartoon like plus lighting and shadows from SOR4* No contest -Streets of Rage 4
TMNT Shredder's Revenge FTW. Both are great though.
No debate streets of rage 4, if only for its replayability.
Honestly I'd say Streets of rage 4 is the better beat em up between the two. Better mechanics
Without going into reasons why since I play and enjoy both, my desert island choice would be SOR4. Jim, have played Beats of Rage and TMNT Rescue Palooza?
I wish they could combine the games into one. But definitely a Streets of Rage 4 fan. Loved TMNT
Street of rage 4 is by far better because of the Gameplay , the gameplay in TMNT Shredder's Revenge its to simple it was a game made for kids
TMNT has my favorite comic book character of all time (Usagi Yojimbo) yet SOR4 is for me not only the best beat 'em up of all time it's also in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Game is just too deep.
and both games had a great dlc expansion too both S class
Streets of rage 4 is obviously the best till date.. It's combat system is the most unique and very very interesting to learn
Both games are DOPE, so either one is a win-win situation 👊🏿
Now a decent river city ransom or bad dudes would be dope to
TMNT Shredder's Revenge Vs Streets of Rage 4
And the winner is... He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (Open Bor)
No contest.
SOR 4 has more playable characters, better soundtrack and the gameplay is more technical. Shredders' revenge does have more nostalgic value and has been more commercialized over the years with the movies, cartoons, and action figures. SOR 4 is my choice for a gameplay franchise and replayability.
Make sure you go all the way Jimmy! :) awesome video!
For me, the problem in this pool is that are made by some guest people who didn't clear the game, or are Nintendo kids and doesnt know much about SoR... Well, both games are incredible, but for me SoR4 have much more replay value.
Hoped they do more DLC for SOR4...new sprites for Roo and rhe other characters would be nice
I love both but Street of Rage 4 is much better
Shredders revenge hands down
I love the new art
I'm sorry but Streets of Rage 4 steamrolls the beat'em up genre as we knew it. It's that good.
I have both games and love them both equally. I think Shredders revenge edges it though for it's multiplayer.
TMNT wins because of the sheer numbers of video game titles.
I can’t decide they are both amazing but I will tell u what river city girls 2 is incredible too.
Player SOR4 zillion times. TMNT only couple times.
Visuals and Gameplay because of depth is for me SOR4. Soundtrack both are good. Ninja Turtles is pick up and play but the mass of enemies is not that unique as in SOR4 where you need to adapt your gameplan for each enemy group
SOR4
Honourable Mentions
Fight N Rage
Ninja Saviours/Once Again
I think sor4 is better cuz it a lot of options and game modes and the gameplay is smooth
Streets of rage 4 wins not to take anything away from tmnt.
Jitsu squad. End of discussion
Streets of Rage by far! Spent only about 15 hours on tmnt. And over 80 on SoR4. Survival Mode is the best idea ever
Both are fantastic games. SoR4 I'd say it's more of a technical fighter and Turtles is just all out fun 😊
Streets of Rage 4 is the better game, by far. It has the most deep and complete combat system of all beat'em up games.
i just play both games, and i prefer TMNT over SOR4, for newcomer and casual player Tmnt more easier, i could finish multiple run without even knowing the button, while in SOR4 i hardly done my first run and need to go training room to enjoy the game. but still i agree SOR4 its better, polished and more advanced, i just hope sor4 implemen dash like tmnt, while in TMNT i hope there's training room (even tho i think people can finish it, without even need training)
TMNT
The artstyle both 👌
For me, SoR4 wins, but its extremely close.
Streets Of Rage 4 ♥️😃
I bought both. I win.
Both baby ❤
Streets of rage 4 is a way better game and has more content. U can unlock new moves via training and personaliz ur characters moves to what kind of punishment u wanna give
Played both, but sor4 is MUCH better!!
At least you don’t run out of continues. Don’t forget it also gives you the option of assists if you die.
TMNT: 6/10
SOR4: 10/10
Growing up playing both titles. For me tmnt always has a place in my heart being a huge fan of the cartoons and comics
I'm going to watch this full video but before I do my opinion (that the vast majority of people don't care about) is SOR4 is there superior game.
There are moments and shredders revenge that are more fun but I believe in totality $age 4 is better overall.
Feelings?
Streets is better. Deeper combat system.
Streets of rage the gameplay and the classic characters with swappavle moves, and tmnt the levels are better. Streets of rage needs 50% more levels though. Bew power rangers looks amazing ritas something.
is ms y a school girl?
TkyoSam dont know how to play Street of Rage 4 lol, the game is super easy , i beat the game with S rank in the maximum difficulty without losing a live.
SOR4 takes it here easy win
SoRR will always be better than SoR 4
BTW DotEmu even took a stage from that fanmade game (walking on top of the train)
SoR4 ftw. Shredders Revenge is overrated for me.
