Growing up in Massachusetts, I can remember people making this ride to NH on Sundays because their package stores were open and the ones in Mass we closed.
My favorite bridge in the world is the big, green bridge that crosses the New Hanpshire/Maine state line named Piscataqua River Bridge is my favorite bridge in the entire world! All my anxiety and stress always disappears whenever I cross that bridge into Maine. Been vacationing to Maine every single summer for almost 25 years. I also absolutely love the big blue WELCOME TO MAINE, Welcome Home, The Way Life Should Be sign!
The entirety of I-95 in New Hampshire is called the Blue Star Turnpike and it's a toll road of I-95 in the state. If you don't want to pay tolls, well, take US 1 instead.
I was along that entire corridor in November 2019. I was visiting a friend in New Hampshire and a cousin in Lynn, MA. Being a retired Navy sailor, I was interested in seeing the Portsmouth Naval Prison and I hadn't been in NH or ME since I was an infant. Only in New Hampshire will you find liquor stores on a Turnpike.
I remember when there were 2 tolls on this road: 1. The one at Hampton (although I think this one is now further up than the original one). 2. The one at the old Sarah Long Bridge, when I-95 cut through Portsmouth from the Traffic Circle, as a 4 lane road with just a guardrail median strip. That bridge was 3 lanes, with 2 lanes going up north during weekend mornings in the summer, then reversed to 2 lanes southbound during weekend afternoons. The new I-95 is quite the improvement over the old one.
2 counties in Southeastern New Hampshire are also part of Greater Boston, but in the Portsmouth, NH metropolitan division. Rockingham and Strafford Counties are those 2 counties I mentioned.
Greater Boston is divided into 3 metro divisions: •Boston Metropolitan Division/Central and Southern Greater Boston: -Suffolk County, MA (central) -Norfolk County, MA (southern) -Plymouth County, MA (southern) •Cambridge, MA Metropolitan Division/Northern Greater Boston: -Middlesex County, MA -Essex County, MA •Southeastern New Hampshire/Portsmouth, NH Metropolitan Division -Rockingham County, MA -Strafford County, MA
@Jim Allen go look on his channel.he,s got a long list of places he,s been.he,s even been to my state.of tennessee.did a video of drives around nashville.
@JimAllen-PersonaMaybe he recorded a video of NB-95 in Canada from the US/Canadian Border to Trans-Canada Hwy-1, since he crossed the border into Canada from Houlton, ME according to a post.
@@ryanearles2024 I-93 in Hooksett also features a NH State Liquor Store on both sides of the interstate. And Don't forget to buy your lottery tickets, too!!!

That was interesting with the liquor stores. Guess the government has to make its money somehow

That's Rockingham County, not Rockland.
@@edwardrasmussen3465, I edited my comment. The way I said the name wrong is because I got mixed up again.

@@edwardrasmussen3465, why would Mike mistaken the name of Rockingham County, NH by calling it Rockland County, NH? I wish Mike fixes that error.
Mike, will you please fix one error in this video? The error is you got the name of Rockingham County, NH wrong with Rockland.
Videos cannot be edited after uploading. It’ll be alright
Are you going to go to Maine and record that as well?

@@MileageMikeTravels Yup. Only in New Hampshire! Just don't drink the liquor after purchasing it (before you get home of course). Lol

@@mrcrazyasian No. I live in Ohio, so that's why I haven't heard about that before.
Not trying to be nit picky but it’s actually “Rockingham” county. Otherwise, great vid!
