- TV Patrol Sabado devotes a special coverage to the passing of Pres. Corazon Aquino, who died at the Makati Medical Center on the early morning of August 1, 2009. Her remains were later brought that day to the La Salle Greenhills, where Filipinos both ordinary and prominent came to pay their respects to one of the Philippines' icons of democracy.

Cory couldve easily made the 1986 constitution for her to retain power indefinitely. Instead, every president after her(except Pnoy) tried to revise the constitution so that they can extend their power. Something to think about.

The reason they try to extend their power is because 6 years is not enough to complete Major infrastructure projects around the archipelago. Plans changes from president to president.
Example: Pnoy halted a dredging project whom the previous administration initiated which cost us nearly a billion pesos as compensation fees to a company who won the award. Almost one billion pesos down the drain. Leila de Lima gave the go ahead signal that the project was good with no anomalies and it should proceed. It could've solved our flood problems.
Had Gloria had more time as president, it would've pushed through without delay.

1. It's the 1987 Constitution not 1986.
2. "For her to retain power indefinitely." AND THAT'S WHAT SHE DID, from 1992-2009 she became the most powerful and influential non-politician civilian in the history of our politics, almost puppet niya na si FVR at GMA and she overthrew the first pro-Marcos yet democratically-elected president of post-1986 which is Erap. When FVR and GMA started kalabanin si Cory (si FVR gusto ng ChaCha, same with GMA but with land reform/Hacienda Luisita), Cory demonized them as well.
3. She didn't just retain power, she also vested MOST of the powers to herself. We were a semi-presidential republic from 1981 to 1986, we have a prime minister (Virata) that time and sa sobrang galit ni Cory kay Marcos, she junked the 1973 Constitution and binalik tayo sa full presidentialism kung saan walang PM at lahat ng kapangyarihan sa kaniya and yes, lahat ng kapangyarihan vested sa isang housewife with no political experience. How about um-abide nalang siya sa agreement niya with Doy Laurel where Cory would be Prez while Laurel would be PM. Then cinontinue nalang ang 1973 Constitution with its 1981 Amendments reversed (1973 Constitution was supposed to be parliamentary but since in love si Marcos sa presidential cult of personality, he amended it noong 1981 para ma-model tayo sa system ng France) para naging totoong parliamentary republic na tayo where Cory is ceremonial and Laurel is in charge nagapapatakbo, edi naging hero pa si Cory, kaso sakim siya sa kapangyarihan just like Marcos.
4. Hindi po lahat ng Charter Change about term extension. The People's Initiative for Reform, Modernization, and Action (PIRMA) ni Ramos noong 1996 is about shifting from a bicameral presidential to a unicameral parliamentary system. FVR acknowledged the fact that presidential system is less efficient in passing laws, less accountable, and prone sa executive vs legislative gridlock. Estrada's Constitutional Correction for Development (CONCORD) of 1998 wasn't even about changing the country's political structure but rather, our economic system, gusto niya lang tanggalin yung 60/40 foreign investment restriction (kaya may monopoly at naghahari mga oligarchs dito). Yung Sigaw Ng Bayan People's Initiative ni Arroyo noong 2006 at Constituent Assembly attempts by House Speaker De Venecia, Nograles, and Pimentel of 2006-2008 are also about shifting from unitary-presidential to federal-parliamentary system + economic liberalization.
5. Wrong ka po. PNoy was actually open for ChaCha but not about the economic liberalization (which is being pushed by his own House Speaker, Belmonte), federalism, or parliamentarism but on extending his term AS PRESIDENT. Gusto mo send ko pa sayo yung article?
