    The first two retractors after the Gelpis are called cerebellar retractors their teeth are everted as opposed to weitlander whose teeth are inverted

      A "needle driver" is also known as a "needle holder". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Needle_holder

      ​@4paws213 I would think it is a more accurate name for the da Vinci than the handheld. My reason for thinking this, and it is just semantics, is that "driving" is an action, but the instrument itself doesn't do anything it is just a tool, with the handheld instrument, the surgeon is the "driver" as he applies the downward motion, and the tool's action is to "hold", hence "needle holder". For the da Vinci, the robot (not surgeon), both holds the needle and applies the driving force downward; thus "needle driver" would be more appropriate. I don't honestly care that much haha, but if we are talking technicalities, that seems the most sound argument regarding naming.
