    Thank you so much for this video. You mentioned the "shim" and it solved a mystery and problem since I purchased my unit. 😬
    I didn't know about the "shim". 🤦🏽‍♂️

      Haha I had no idea what a shim was at first either! Glad I could help.

    Is there a reason you don’t soak or wash the parts that have caked on grinds?

      you could, but I would be weary of the oxidation of parts if not cared for properly. There is also the idea that you can "season" a grinder like a cast iron.

      @@StevenMakesVids interesting concept around seasoning, I haven’t heard that before. So that would be a reason to not soak or wash the parts.

    Excellent video, very clear. I had never deep cleaned my Sette 270 since buying it other than a bit of wiping and knocking on it to get coffee out and I've had it for a few years. You should have seen what came out. I did have a 0.3mm shim I bought from Baratza that I installed during the clean. Is yours the same thickness? The video seems to make it look a bit thicker than mine, but I may just be imagining that.

      After installing the 0.3mm shim, it shifted my values by 5. I used to grind at around a value of 5 for a 1:2 brew ratio, after the shim I have to use around 10.

    Thanks for the clear and easily understood instructional video. Awesome job!*****. What setting is best to use on my sette 270 for expresso non-oily whole beans. I use medium roast beans, some dark roast, but most all are dry, not oily like Starbucks. Not trying to be critical, just used only as an example of oily beans.

      The key to getting the best setting for your beans is learning how to dial in your shots. Each bean has a different setting that's needed to get a good shot from it 👌

    I have a question, is it normal that after cleaning the grind gets a little coarser and you have to adjust the micro to finer?

    • @StevenMakesVids
      @StevenMakesVids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the reside from oils and old coffee effects the level of grind. When. You clean that gunk off then your grind settings will change a bit
