Both devices offer almost endless possibilities when it comes to available sounds, and with the flexibility of both sequencers it's so simple to get a session going! Best of all, you grab this setup for a pretty decent price, especially if you shop used! Enjoy the video :)

    Great jam! Hey a quick tip on the Microfreak sequencer. While the sequencer is in record mode , hold the shift button and turn the rate knob this will extend the sequence without having to go into the utility menu.

    I discovered in Plaits that the chords oscillator can also do organ sounds and this is also implemented in the microfreak. I think the organ chords sound totally awesome and scream to have the chord type sequenced with different sequence length than another sequence of the root note of the chord.

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh I didn't even think of sequencing the chord oscillator, I'll have to try that!

    How could you build on this set up? Is it possible to add some sort of loop equipment so you could loop your first sequence on the freak have that playing in the background with ability to manipulate envelope/effects from a midi controller while making a new sequence on the freak? And also have the PO32 making beats in the background. Is this set up achievable?

    Thanks for the video. I haven’t messed with the Tonic but I have the KO and the Rhythm and love both. How do you think the Microfreak would do with one of those (or both)?
    I had a Microfreak but life happened, had to get rid of it. Your video makes me want another. I didn’t have mine for long enough to learn much but after just playing around w the PO’s on my lunch break, I want to do more with them.
    What connection is used to connect them to the Microfreak?

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, the Microfreak plus the KO would be enough to fill a lifetime with. The freak can make so many different types of sounds, even drums, and the KO makes sampling a breeze. To connect them, just use a normal 1/8" (3.5mm) cable :)

    Arturia raised the price on their site to over $400.00. For a couple hundred more you can get a Korg Minilogue XD. I should have bought one when they were $250.00. I may still buy a used one, but I don't think they're worth $400.00. $350.00 is even steep in my opinion. There's a lot of other great synths with more features for 2-3 hundred more.

    • @FreeBeat

      @kgreggbruce1552 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There are a lot of other great synths for a few hundred more. But why would you waste your money on those? For even a few hundred more than that, there are some totally awesome synths that blow those other ones that are only a few hundred more out of the water, make them seem like toys. But why stop there? Save up a few hundred more again, and there are legendary synths that make all those in the first three categories glow red with embarrassment. And you’d be dumb to buy those anyway, because if you just spend a few hundred more, you are talking super boutique, professional pieces of synth gear that those in the first four categories can’t hold a candle to. And let me tell you, if you just spend a few hundred more than that, you can get incredibly niche, powerful synths that are make things like the Arturia and Korg synths seem lame. And don’t get me started about if you spend a few hundred more than that!
