Of course you shouldn't overfill the compressor chamber with said liquid. You can also add filters to the system to filter out the moisture in the air, depending on how clean your air needs to be. But I don't know about the cost efficiency between buying a membrane compressor (hospitals and drug labs use those, also if you're compressing aggressive gasses) or adding filters that you got to maintain regularly.
