    Can you make a video on how to massage your nose after a rhinoplasty?

  • @janettesarabia7989

    Hello Dr!
    I have a quick question, should I massage my nose after 1st week of rhinoplasty? You didn't mention anything about that in your video?

    Hi Doc! I’m around day 4, post-op. And still have some fresh bleeding and major congestion. What is the norm regarding breathing through your nose again or the bleeding to completely stop? It was a Septo and Rhinoplasty

    I had my nose job 3 days ago & I still cannot breathe through my nose. How long will it take to open up?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Anton, I hope you are breathing better at this point. Splints may have been used inside the nose and usually at your 1 week appointment the internal splint will be removed. That is when most of my patients are able to breathe better.

    Hey, My doctor didn’t give me any post op cleaning instructions and just said not to touch it until the next appointment but all the blood has matted up, any advice on what I can do about that?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Every surgeon has their own post surgery instructions. I would advise you reach out to your surgeon’s office and ask them if they recommend anything for the blood for your comfort.

    Can you please talk about sore throat that caused by rhinoplasty, how much time it needs to be healed and what should we do to reduce it?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sore throat often is from the suctioning and breathing tube used for anesthesia during surgery. Salt water gargles (with ice), tylenol and time is what is needed to allow it to heal which typically takes 1-2 weeks depending on how raw the surface of the back of your throat is.

    Hello! Thank you for your video! Does taping your nose at night help with swelling? I’ve heard that it can cause more damage than good because it stretches the skin when removing it.

    If I am having closed rhinoplasty/septoplasty, with shaving dorsal hump, how long before I can wear glasses normally?

    • @joellelopez8540
      @joellelopez8540 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey just had mine done a week ago and my doctor said 4 months !

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alexandra, I usually recommend 6 weeks before returning to wearing glasses. However, your surgeon will determine the best time for you based on what was performed and how glasses might affect your outcome.

    Such a very informative detailed video .. this was great .. I had my first Rhinoplasty done 13 days ago and still having congestion /stuffy nose feeling .. I feel like I have to sniffle a lot and breathing isn’t good .. when I use the saline spray it opens up more and I feel like I can finally breathe from my nose not my mouth.. is this normal ? Also I can’t fully smell just yet .. and taste buds are coming back as well ..

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ginger, yes, what you are describing is normal. It can take a few weeks to months before the nose starts functioning back to normal. Thank you for watching!

    Speaking of my experience, most boring and almost painful thing about Rhinoplasty is Congested Nose, Dry Mouth and sleeping on your back.
    Sleeping on my back makes my scalp and neck numb. And breathing through my mouth made my mouth dry that screwed my sleep and made me wake up several times to drink water. And, swollen nose makes your nose congested, you can’t breathe through your nose. It takes some weeks until you can breathe through your nose again and that sucks.

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience. Fortunately, the effect on sleep and breathing is usually short lived.

    I got my nose done on Thursday and my surgeon told me I can eat start eating solid food already since the first day and for the post op he made me sniff super hard for the nasal spray to go in.

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Natty, I hope your nose is healing well. Every surgeon has their respective instructions and it doesn't mean that one is better than the other. The instructions I give work well for my patients after surgery to minimize pain, swelling and downtime.

      Lymphatic drainage massage may be effective at speeding up resolution of the swelling.

    Thank you for the video. I am 3 months post rhinoplasty. Very extensive from what I was told since I had a lot of trauma from boxing and I can’t breathe out of my right nostril other than when I’m working out, use Afrin or when I go to the doctor(probably because I get a little nervous). I was breathing fine when I was in Mexico recovering for a month but once I got to the US my right nostril started to close again. I went to see a doctor that is local but he just gave me allergy medicine that didn’t do much. My doctor from Mexico suggested a steroid injection so I am looking at doing that next. it is so uncomfortable having to breathe out of my mouth all the time. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Frank, unfortunately I don't have any suggestions because I can't tell what the root cause of your right nostril closing up is without looking inside your nose. I hope that the steroid injection provides relief!

    Can you irrigate your nose with a spray bottle 2 days post surgery. I did it, hopefully its fine.

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is up to each surgeon and the surgical technique that was used will determine the safety in using a spray bottle after surgery. Please check with your surgeon.

    Hello i had a closed rhinoplasty 4 days ago and my surgeon told me to keep my packing 7 days but i had a panic attack and took it out 24h after. Will it damage the final result ? Or is it an outdated practice ? Thank you so much !

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Wiktoria, I would left your surgeon know. Packing was used in the past to keep the septal lining to stay down in order to avoid hematoma formation and to keep the septum straight. We still use internal splints if the nose is not packed for that reason. I would inform your surgeon so that they can assist you with your question.

    I just had septoplasty surgery 1 month ago. I hav a collapsed nasal valve now..how long b4 it can be fixed. How long should i wait for revision surgery. Im having major problems breathing correctly

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The timing should be discussed with your surgeon. I would recommend waiting at least 3 months from the time of surgery to reevaluate your breathing before discussing revision surgery.

    How do I take care of my insition? Tips for good healing?

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aquaphor or antibiotic ointment can be used on the incision in the first 1-2 weeks. After that silicone scar gel can be helpful to promote better healing along the incision line. Also, avoid direct sun exposure on the incision site.

      Alison, please check with your surgeon. Every surgeon has their own guidelines particularly as they know what was done during your surgery and what could shift if you slept on your side.

    i just got my septorhinoplasty done. and it was my 5th time. still my nose be swollen or like bumpy from one side of nose, which makes it like deviated.
    please suggest me some medicine or cream to make that scar part soft or reduce that swollen part.
    please help me out mam!

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How far out are you from surgery? If this is your 5th time, it may require more patience with the swelling and bumpiness. I would typically recommend using an external cast or splint for longer period of time to help with the bump or swelling but please check with your surgeon to find out if this is what they would recommend.

    I’m a few days past a month post op and unfortunately have started to develop a pus filled bump at the open of my left nostril on the inside, near my septoplasty stitches. It keeps causing yellow crust to form. I had my procedure done in Turkey so I can’t be examined by my surgeon and unfortunately, the local surgeon has the absolute worst bedside manner and made me feel like my decision to do it overseas was a bad idea but also seemed upset that I didn’t come to him. He wouldn’t even do a culture but took his scope and opened up my nose so wide just to look in. He was an A$$ and now I’m unsure what to do about this yellow crust and bump. He claims I should not use iodine and bactroban to stave off any infection however, my surgeon suggested both. I don’t know who to believe anymore and may end up seeing a wound specialist

    CAn I smile after rhinoplasty????

    • @FaceliftExpert
      @FaceliftExpert  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend limiting smiling and chewing after rhinoplasty surgery. The upper lip will feel stiff. Additionally, if there are sutures around the nostrils, you will not want to smile and cause the sutures to open up.
