Cameraman afraid to approach cars... Can't really see the details they were talking about 😞 Dear cameraman, we know how the cars look like, we want to see the nerdy little details that make these masterpieces perform the way they do!
One of my Friends transfered from BMW M Division to Bugatti 5 Years ago. The Mechanics there are incredible! What's also really awesome is that its a Mix of almost 50/50 German and French Mechanics working together to make these Bugattis. They're all a Marvel of Engineering! @@larryc1616 never seen someone talk so much nonsense. The deal was worth roughly 2 billion dollars and it was the best thing that could have happened to Bugatti (as the Tourbillon proves). Thanks to Mate Rimac we now have a n/a V16 engine with more displacement than its predecessor
@larryc1616 VW has a partnership with Rimac, it was clever restructuring and exchange of EV tech ! VW was under financial pressure bcos of diesel gates. And with Audi, Porsche and Lambo looking to electrictrification in the future, the synergy with Bugatti does not make sense. Matte rimac mentioned that in that segment customers don't want EVs 13:12
Damn this Frank lad is really on another level, what a knowledge and passion. Bugatti is a really incredible brand, and without incredible people it wouldn’t ever be possible. Hats off
13:28 the designer describe a slat/slot here. Thats kinda wild! They put a slot normally meant for airplane wings on the front end of a car to keep air flow attached, but for the sides. That is so clever!
Nice one @TopGear! Getting the actual guy to talk through their tweaks was a good move, and without any bombastic Clarkson! Bring the series back more as it used to be, which is what this was.
I can't believe they made so many amazing cars in such a short time. I'm still not over the Veyron from 2006 and they got all of these already lined up. In the past, a car like the Veyron would have been appreciated and admired for 20 years. Now they make a new wallpaper model every 2 years, like an iPhone. A testament to how far and how fast humanity has come.
Suuuuuper interesting! Maybe a video like this with the bolide could be interesting, or just any car with the engineer explaining all the cool little details
Always a pleasure to see Frank speak on the details. I'm found of the cars being in their glossy finishes, the versions with matt paint don't work as nicely visually.
i would take the OG supersport if i could chose! Such a good looking car. The stance never gets old. allthough i think that the 1st gen. Veyron is the best looking of them all with the og polished wheels, the 2 big air scoops and the iconic square exhaust pipe.
First and foremost, beautiful cars! The Veyron Super Sport is my favorite! And black and orange spec on all 4 looks stunning! It would be really cool if Top Gear would have a longer video with Frank Heyl and him going around and discussing each car(s) details. I felt like Frank was being rushed. So please Top Gear make longer videos of people discussing the details of their vehicles.
As someone who’s first word was car.. I think Bugatti is the best auto manufacturer on earth. I always like the veyron but I started to appreciate it a lot more after the chiron came out. a perfect car and to now be learning about what’s different from the regular veyron to veyron ss.. it’s just even more appreciation for that stunning car.
It's not about power, it's about design. Koenigsegg doesn't make a Bugatti, they make cars just for speed. Bugatti doesn't need to prove they have the fastest car, they make works of art!
The 300 is NOT a "world record holder" by any stretch of the imagination. It only did it one direction, it was a non-homologated prototype with god knows how many modifications to keep the tires from exploding, and it has been confirmed that no customer car will ever go 300. By those standards the competition is not homologated road cars that've done it correctly, but tuners like the M2K Motorsports Ford GT that did 300 mph in a standing mile. Like, show some journalistic integrity and keep it factual, it's ridiculous. Edit -- Since Bugatti fanboys are too dumb to understand basic logic, here's why all those things are important: Two directions -- at those speeds the car is hitting a literal 300 mph wall of air. Any tail wind or head wing will massively alter the speeds, which is why to hold a record you need to go in two directions and take an average of the two. It's also to stop cars from setting record in a downhill. When the Agera RS set its record, which still stands according to the rules, there was a 14 mph difference between the two runs. Bugatti didn't go two directions, hence it's not a record. Non-homologated prototype -- "non-homologated" is the key word here. If the car isn't a homologated costumer spec than any amount of changes can be done to the car, just like the Ford GT tuner. Bugatti admitted they made changes to the car and some of those are quite concerning like slamming it to the ground to lower drag. But there's also other obvious changes like the vastly different engine sound that can be heard in several videos which indicates a different exhaust system and/or bigger turbos. The fact that they couldn't lift the car to normal ride height after the changes which indicates they deleted far more weight than just the interior and seat. And also, they couldn't even attempt a record in the Chiron for the longest time because it was 2000+ kgs and they went on and on about how tires were the limiting factor. And then Koenigsegg set their record in a 1400 kg car. And now suddenly Bugatti can reach 300 mph and the tires aren't a limiting factor even though logic says they should be? Koenigsegg are currently waiting for new Michelin tires for the Absolut because it with it's 1400 kg and less downforce than the RS can't reach those speeds. So OBVIOUSLY something changed with the Chiron that allowed it to ride on those tires. It had to have been lightened below what the Agera RS weighed and below what the Jesko Absolut weighs. That's the only logical explanation. Bugatti fans keep bringing up how the Absolut that set the 0-400-0 km/h record was prototype but the difference here is that it's in homologation customer spec. The car will also most likely be sold to a customer when the test program is done. The Agera RS top speed record was also set in a customer car. No customer car will ever go 300 -- this is common knowledge but Bugatti fanboys are so ignorant they don't even know the details of their favorite car. I Googled the limiter and this is from the first search result on Google (Carbuzz): "It should be noted that the production car won't reach the hallowed 300 mph mark in standard form, meaning it isn't technically a record holder, and is limited instead to 273.4 mph, while the 0-60 mph sprint should take approximately the same 2.4 seconds as the regular Chiron." Now for reasons explained above, this isn't just a an electronic limiter. The car is too heavy for the tire load specs. The drag to power is too high. No customer car will ever reach those speeds. Period.
The jesko absolute that did the 0-400-0 was also a prototype and yet it got the record and the Chiron ss 300 was a prototype as well but a fully built car for the others to follow so it no longer counts as a prototype and still hit the fastest speed ever recorded stop hating

being in aerodynamic equilibrium is scary no? or is it dynamically built to go negative more so over positive (why coming off the accelerator raises the wing without needing to step on the break?) if so WOW!
Im curious if 304 mph still counts as official WR even it's a prototype car with stripped out interior without officials inspection and just one direction testing in their secret track ?
