      but seriously did it after the sawn product was on the ground for a month? How much checking, now and yaw was still in timber.. yup nice to see the mill but we dont see anything apart from the green off saw after drying and ready for pressure treating? Im thinking through my pressure treatment plant id have rejected the lot. Not enough care, not enough attention to the log and just a small spit it out skunk fight..

      Sawdust is used for horse bedding. Slab wood is used for firewood. Boards are edged either on the mill or the edger that is run on the same belt system.

    • @maplebones
      @maplebones 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BarnGeek I looked up an old sawyer when I was putting my circular saw together. He was in his 90's and his saw was idle . He told me that his first job as a boy was to buck up the slabs on a buzzsaw, load it in a cart, and deliver it with a horse to every house in the village. People got a weekly supply for their cookstoves. Softwood slabs dry really fast and make a very hot fire. It's great in the summertime because the fire dies quickly when it's not being fed so it doesn't heat up the house, and even little kids can split it.
