If we built her once, we can build her again. Built to be a bomber, she flew like a fighter. Surely it's better to spend money on one dual purpose plane than two single use ones.
The restoration bill to have one flying will be astronomical. Given all the modern safety requirements. That said, It must be possible, even if the insides are ripped out and modern safe systems and engines are installed. it will not be "original" but I wouldn't care, not one jot. The beauty of the Vulcan is that delta wing.
@@gusgone4527 I agree, there was one flying but ended up grounded, the running costs are extortionate, shame. I remember them in service at waddington in the 50's as a kid, erilly scary sound when engine testing!
@@StephenTurner240 Hi Stephen, eerily scary indeed. I must be a decade younger than you and an aircraft nutter from my pre-teen years. A keen model builder too in my youth. After building a wooden model of Vulcan with my father he took me to an airshow to see one for real. It was the start of a long term love affair with the type. I visit the nearest museum example as often as possible. It is in need to considerable TLC after standing outside for decades. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_East_Land,_Sea_and_Air_Museums
Seen XM594 in the flesh today at NAM, Was really lucky to have had a Cockpit tour and spend 15 minutes in the capable hands of ex-Vulcan Pilot John LeBrun which was a privilege.
Thank you for the comment, a friend suggested that I ought to put it on for viewing. Just shows how the quality has improved over the years! I have lost touch with Stuart (who I knew quite well) so don't know if he has seen it?
Daren Williams I last saw Stuart about 5years ago, he still owned it then . I maybe wrong but he may have donated it to the museum? Check their website!
They landed one at Catterick before the police had closed the A1. There was a bit of a stink, but the pilot said he saw the gap better than anyone and went for it.
Even if they are not fully original, just replicas. Original fuselage shape so outwardly it looks perfect. But with modern off the shelf engines and avionics for safety reasons.
Incredible Aircraft in Flight . The Lines are very near Organic . Like a huge Moth . Or Bat . 5000 pound purchase price ? ! Wow . A Bargain I would call that .
That story about the Squadron leader who had to land at Rio de Janeiro airport is well worth a read. he had to divert to Rio on his way back from a Black Buck raid as his refuelling probe had broken and he was out of fuel. He made it on fumes but the REAL problem was he had two Shrike anti radar missiles that were armed but had 'hung up' on the wing pylons. So he had anti radar missiles in the middle of a radar filled airport. It was a typical British diplomatic scam that got the Vulcan released But a very Heath Robinson effort by the crew to get the missiles removed and made safe.
great video was at Newark Air Museum recently for the 40th anniversary of XM 594's arrival thanks for sharing
Great video as I visited NAM today for the first time
Incredible footage, thanks so much for sharing. I watched this start to finish and loved every minute. I've visited this Vulcan many times at NAM.
Love this one, we need somehow to get more of these historic aircraft flying again

Fantastic! I'm a regular visitor to Newark and have seen the pictures but never the actual film

@@StephenTurner240I will , thankyou .
@@StephenTurner240 Apparently , He sold the vulcan in 2004 to the LLF
XM575 was my local Vulcan :)
Stunning
It’s a shame the museum doesn’t get her engines working again be a good exhibit
Thank you 😊
This particular aircraft seems to be the new model from Airfix but it will have the type D roundels.
It is Josef. There are two schemes in the kit D Type and anti-flash) but transfers for other schemes are available.
Great video

Brilliant!😀
We must do more to get more classic aircraft back in the air

I remember the Vulcan landing in Brazil in 1982, black buck.
Yes i remember that
Did they all need parchutes to land safely?
0.80 mile runway, brakes must have been on fire!
Legend. Tier British achievement, as was the De Havilland Mosquito
We have so many achievements to be proud of
@@StephenTurner240 Oh yes. Absolutely!
Weren't we great
When are the JARTS team going to be giving their talk?

Pilot of that mission was 594s pilot in this video.
NAM needs a Victor now.
Shame they can't get Marhams
I'm from Newark
She doesn't want to land
These aircraft must be kept flying
Definitely, sadly I doubt we will see a Vulcan flying again!
Probably went around again to give the vulcan the beans one last time 😢
Hear that whine, just like me.
These are living breathing aircraft
I'll give you £7500 for it but I want to give it a quick run round the block to check she's ok !!! Ha ha 😁
Sure, you have got to be careful with these old bangers! 🤣
The brakes are good and the tyres are fair
