      Stuff I forgot:
      TO TURN NOTES OFF: Simply click the encoder.
      TO CONTROL BOTH CHANNELS AT ONCE: Hold the Channel button 'til it blinks
      THERE'S A RESET IN: send a trig to the reset in to start your sequence from the first note.
      CHANNEL RESET: Hold Shift and Hold Reset until the LEDs change. This will reset the currently selected channel (or both if in Global Mode).
      Y'all catch anything else lmk ~

    Good straightforward tutorial. Not a ton of fluff or crazy extra patches. You are nice and chill and not acting like a wanna-be used car salesman, accident lawyer, or top40 radio DJ, which is refreshing. You don’t insist on showing your face, which annoys me with other people’s tutorials. It’s all about the module which is what I’m looking for. Nice work! 👍

    Great tutorial! Thank you:) My two channels aren’t clocking in sync with each other. When you reset, there is a lag and they are still out of sync. Any advice for syncing them? I want to use channel 2 to transpose the root of channel 1 and it is seeming impossible to sync up this operation.
    Also, how does per step note value change work? Is there some way to here the note value of just one step with the sequence stopped?
    Thanks! I have read the manual multiple times, but I learned more from your video than I ever got out of the manual!

  • @Syncopator
    @Syncopator 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It wasn't quite clear but I gather the "ratchet" feature doesn't subdivide the step into sub-steps but instead adds additional steps? So that it's not for example, inserting 1/16 notes in a stream of quarter notes, but adding additional quarter notes thus extending the time length of the total sequence?

  • @radpix
    @radpix ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow well versatile sequencing! only I think the two-hand-change-everything with this small button left handpress necessity is a kind of design backlash 😢 …. handson in a full case only if in left lower position and even then editing should be mostly one-handed ! Maybe a fw solution could be to allow a doubleclick latch activation of this button…. that edit and finished doubleclick again, ( like KORG on request changed a similar situation with programming the SQ-64) or reverse the function between activated and disabled

  • @mntbighker
    @mntbighker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, I just got my Bloom. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the major weakness in Bloom is the controls on the left can be channel local. But the controls on the right are always global. So If you change the mutation, branches or path, no matter what channel you are on, you are changing both channels. This seems like a glaring obvious oversight. If those controls were encoders (not pots), and channel local, you would have a much more capable two channel sequencer. Or am I missing something? Even if the pot doesn't affect the other channel (which I assume it does immediately), the pot location will be different as soon as you switch to the other channel. And any CV modulation of those things will affect both channels. Not just the one selected while the modulation is applied.

    • @OllyV
      @OllyV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also just got my bloom! Not sure if you have it in global mode, but the right had controls should only control the channel you're on. CV modulation will affect both though, but taken from the last left position of the pot.

    • @mntbighker
      @mntbighker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OllyV Apparently you can switch between channels and the other channel won't be affected by different knob positions unless you move one. Of course the instant you touch the knob it JUMPS to the new position regardless of how it was set before. Not ideal, but it is what it is.

    how do the scales work. are they all set to the key of c.. or do i manually tune my oscillator to whatever key I want the root note of the scale to be. for example if I tune my oscillator to D and then I set the scale on bloom to the minor scale, would the scale on bloom be d minor

    • @fone6359
      @fone6359  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Aaron, the Root knob can transpose a sequence to any note. So if i wanted to be in the key of D minor i would set the sequence length to one note (just so i could repeat that note) then turn that specific note knob all the way to the left (to it's lowest setting), and use the root knob to change that note to the desired Root note - In this case D. After that all you do is change the scale setting to minor. Bam, D minor.

    • @avenlanemusic
      @avenlanemusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fone hello, after all this time I ended up getting bloom, and I love it!! But, there’s an issue I’m having when I divide the time division, when I divide the sequence by 8 or even 4 the reset Lags, when I hit reset manually or send cv to it, it still lags which causes everything to be offbeat, it resets perfectly when I leave it at its normal rate or I multiplied the timing but NOT when I start to divide it. Have you came across this same issue. and I also updated the firmware and everything and still no fix. Any help would be great Thanks!

    Awesome tutorial man! Let me ask you something. I noticed that you did only 3 racthets per note exemple..but how many ratchets can you really have? I'm wondering if it's possible to do it in a way where we can really have a ratchet and not a repeat feel. Maybe if you add enough ratchets to step it can be achieved?

    • @fone6359
      @fone6359  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey man, i think you can have 8 rachets per step. unfortunately the rachets are note repeats. hoping qubit can update this with a new firmware - bc i agree, we need REAL rachets.

  • @ScottLHines
    @ScottLHines 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Since the encoders are not detented, is there a prescribed number of increments to turn an encoder to close or open a gate? Or for that matter an operation?

    • @fone6359
      @fone6359  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it requires you to depend on your ear to hear how much the gate is open/closed. The amount of change between open and closed is pretty subtle. ive found the qubit gate function to be a little lacking so hopefully its something they could work on in the future.

  • @rhampton1914
    @rhampton1914 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can i have all 16 steps going but have a rest between notes so nothing will play so i can have long gate on let's say sequence step 4 to create ambient longated sequences?

    • @fone6359
      @fone6359  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      imo yes. but this may have more to do with the vco / synth that your sequencing. If I set step one to play a note with a long gate, I would be relying more on the vco/synth's decay or release knob for getting it to decay in an ambient /drone-y way. you can definitely mute any notes within that 16 step sequence. I'd then set the rate of the sequence to be quite slow. This would give you that ambient vibe youre looking for. Add in a bit of randomness and you can get some really interesting stuff.
