    Thanks for using your voice to walk us through it. Some channels just want to show pictures, like that is enough information, but it isn't enough for me.
    I appreciate you taking time to do it right, walking us through the build. I have a driver-on-board 100w LED, but i can still use much of this information for my build. 👍🏼

    LEDs are a current driven component. The forward voltage is dependend on the current going through the LEDs. To get a more stable output i suggest using a led driver next time. Great vid BTW realy liked it.
    In your die pack of the LEDs u can het similar output out of all of them if u set a current limit and no voltage limit.

    Use spot welder to stick the batteries together, soldering iron is for well experienced elecctritions
    I tried to do this but it didn't work, when I tested the battery it let out a small explosion! Careful with li-ion cells...

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's why I got the cells with nickel strips already attached. they can be soldered much easier and faster and the cells will not heat up.

    i have an idea for a good spot welder with a bank of super-capacitors with transformer and circuit to charge them just make sure to work safe with them cause charged super capacitors can harm, for solder nickel strips to batteries however there is no need of huge capacitors but i suggest using modified microwave oven transformer remember to be cautious cuz i want to keep watching new videos from you friend :)

  • @PerryStevPT
    @PerryStevPT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is it because you have a higher range of luminescence? Since you're using a step up converter, the lowest voltage you could have with a 7s battery would be to high for your needs. Or maybe it's easier to charge, maybe you don't have a 7s li-ion balancing charger.

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes, you are correct. the complete reason is because a 7S battery pack has a maximum voltage of 29.4V and I want to adjust the voltage (with the secondary potentiometer on the boost converter) between 27.5V and 30V. with a 7S battery pack I could not have done that.

    Using 6s instead od 7s because od the size? Or maybe because the MAX voltage of the LED is 30v and at a lower voltage it Draws less current and is still bright enough and also generates less heat? Its just my guesses

    How to measure battery pack capacity..?
    If per cell is 2200mah and I made 5s 21v battery pack with 10 cells so how I measure there's amps and watts.

    • @Sorin_DIY
      @Sorin_DIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the capacity is measured in Ah, if you connect the cells in series, the current and capacity remains the same, only the voltage is added. so your 5S battery pack with maximum 21V has a capacity of 2200mAh (2.2Ah). the energy of the battery pack is = capacity*nominal voltage = 2.2Ah*3.6V*5cells= 39.6Wh.

    With 9s battery the boost converter will be very efficient but the buck converter will be very inifficient and produce a lot of heat
    With 6s battery the boost converter will not be that efficient but the buck converter will be much more efficient and less wasted power and less heat produced by the buck converter.

    Let me guess you destroyed one of the cells beucause you set the charging current to 2A

    Do not use your finger to spread termal paste, skins have oil on thet is not very good termal conditor.

    You used a 6 pack rather than 7 due to space in the housing

    6s battery-pack because 7s would look unsymmetrical and ugly :D

    Because the plastic thing only has six holes

    I see that this flashlight would be very bright but, if I did my math right, you would only have 66.6Wh available. I can see you'll get about 30 minutes per charge, if I'm right.

      I think it will last little bit more than 30 mins. I think it is betwwen 35-50mins

      @@moya9450 With a little research, 35-45 minutes would be its run time.

      hi. according to the seller this type of li-ion cell has a nominal voltage of 3.6V, this gives the battery pack an energy of 64.8Wh (3Ah*3.6V*6). in the video I mentioned by mistake that it has 75.6Wh... ups :). but in reality I think that the cells have a nominal voltage of 3.7V, not 3.6V. so the energy should be as you said 66.6Wh. I say this because the flashlight lasts 52 minutes at the highest intensity. it may sound ridiculous, but I timed it twice.
      the LED doesn't use 100W, that's the maximum rated power, but it's recommended to power it with less, especially because the LED is not perfect, as you see in the beginning of the video, the LED chips don't light evenly at low voltage. that's why I power it with maximum 3A (29.3v*2.99A=87.6W). I tested it 10 minutes on the bench and the current remains stable.
      but this still doesn't explain the autonomy. 66.6Wh/87.6W=0.76h =45min. and this is assuming that the converter works with an efficiency of 100%, which obviously does not.
      so I'm guessing that the current used by the LED fluctuates and may decrease over time.
      or another explanation may be that the capacity of the li-ion cells increased slightly after several cycles. I got maximum 3000mAh from these cells. but I see in the reviews that some other buyers got more, even 3137mAh.
      otherwise I can't explain at the moment the 52min autonomy. it's a bit difficult to dismantle the flashlight and test the power consumptions inside, but I will probably do this in the future.
      and at the lowest light intensity it lasts for 6:10 hours.

    It'll probably look ugly and a waste of space if you use 7 batteries assuming you only have 2 battery holders
