I wrote "The Sea" to express my love for the ocean and the mysteries it possesses (my name is “Sea-erra,” after all!). The song came to me while I was living out of my van in Port Townsend, WA. The beach quickly became one of my favorite places. I would walk there every day and look for items that had washed ashore. At the time, I was seeing a blue-eyed Pisces and there was someone else I was interested in who was a Cancer. Those are both water signs so that’s how they weaseled their way in there! I had an amazing time working with director Casey Pierce and producer Bella Mazzola on this video and hope you enjoy It!

I saw Sierra at the Empty Glass in Charleston, WV years back. She brought everyone to a stop. We knew. You don’t get that many times. And she is a fun, funny lovely woman! I’m so happy she is riding this way! She has worked very hard for it.✌️♥️

Sierra is a special person imo. I hope she is able to retain her natural uniqueness and not get sucked into commercialisation - of course she must succeed but I personally love her live performances and a kind of rawness which may have come from her busking background.
@@steviett7734 Yes sadly I have to agree. I bought the album and it's like you say. Commodification of creative ideas mostly destroys them in the end in my experience. A shame but I guess she has to make a living....

Sierra is absolutely remarkable. The most unique voice to come along in years. I’m disappointed with the record because it is so overproduced. This artist needs nothing but her guitar and voice. The album is so nashvilled up it detracts. But I would still recommend it.
3 years now since I first heard Sierra's enchanting voice (thanks, GemsOnVHS). 3 years of shouting her praises from the hilltop, waiting for the day she'd be signed. The day's finally come and I'm preparing to pre-order the first album!

I absolutely love this arrangement. It's shimmering and haunting, and the lyrics feel much more present than the "squirrel nutty" track I have now.. Also, is that a toy piano I hear? Just perfect. Can't wait for the album to drop.

Sierra goes to the Sea! You gotta admit: this girl has a unique 'species' of flair. She's mermaid, human, feminine, salty and aquatic all in the same video. Totally absorbing, her sex appeal is both liquid and mysterious, the shapes of her beautiful body barely insinuated in the side-lit darkness (begs the question: would, in a self-censoring society, would she be wearing a bathing suit? I think not!). She pulls your attention so strongly, your retina becomes almost detached. She wrote this tasty morsel and I would like to know who made the arrangement, it recalls the retro genius of Leon Redbone, and the fragility of Imelda May. Then there's her eye contact: it fleetingly touches your pupils, then, it averts them decorously. Yet, there's a hint of ironic, subtle detachment throughout: when she opens up playing a saw, and later her unconvinced dance steps, you know that she's just using her powerful appeal to take you for a ride. Awestruck, I feel the atavic, unfulfillable pull of the Feminine Nature that she masterfully embodies, with her tongue firmly planted in her cheek. I'm hook, line and sinker crazy about this girl.
