It would help. Dogs are smart, but you cannot converse with them like you would with a human. The dog’s body language indicates that he thinks it’s playtime. You can see several play bows. That’s not surprising, as the man recording is laughing, which definitely sends a mixed message.
And it’s not like the dog is going to be able to shower himself. That requires human leadership and assistance. Dogs aren’t cats. They do not self-groom.

He, also loved to roll in cow shit. And he'd turn green. The other dog? hated baths. Didn't care one little bit about jumping into any body of water. And most definitely did not roll in cow shit. But he's the one who got sprayed by skunks. Three times.
