Ya - Finland has two World Records we hold up year after year: we have most metal bands/capita, roughly 42 bands per 100,000 residents in Finland. (US >5/100 000)👍 Oh, and the other record? We drink most coffee yearly approx 22lbs/ per every living citizen... Dunno how much Kai drinks coffee, but maybe that effects the drumsticks and double kick speed 😁

@@DRUMNERD Absolutely.Discovered Nightwish during lockdown, most amazing vocalist I've heard. Whole band is excellent, both drummers great but different style. Did drum but also better singer so never became very good but admire those that can.

Then sang in various amateur musicals but didn't have balls to go professional. Now 69 and haven't sung to an audience for at least 25 years. But can appreciate good musicianship. Well worth listening to Akane of Band Maid.

Kai is a beast. You should also check some of his older stuff, even that quality of those videos is horrible. Try to search "kai hahto meshuggah", "kai hahto perfection" or "kai hahto obey" for example. That cover of Meshuggah's War is the worst quality, but it is still worth to watch.

And here is another Finnish Drummer Legend, one of my favorite drummers, Jaska Raatikainen from Children Of Bodom. Pay attention what he does at 2:55: th-cam.com/video/tykQPfeu9u0/w-d-xo.html He is not that technical as Kai, but for me it's not about how fast and precise you are, but it's the complete package (fast enough, timing, creativity, awareness about what sounds good and what song needs, stage presence...probably about hundred little things). For me Nightwish' old drummer, Jukka Nevalainen was the best. I'm really sad that he had to step a side and even more so, because we don't even have any drum cams.

The a's in Kai's names are pronounced with ahh-sounds not aye. His last name sounds like Hah-taw or hah-toe in english. He's starting to get well known for his extreme speed and stamina while drumming lol
@@DRUMNERD we Finns are pretty used to hear wrong pronunciation, so no worries. Most of us are not too good at pronunciation either, and I'm sure no one gets offended. However, if you wonder how some name or word is pronounced, just go to Google translator, select Finnish, type the word and click the speaker icon. B.t.w.: The pronounciation of Kai Hahto's Name is difficult as all finnish names. 'Hahto' is pronounced similar like "hat" (your wear on your head) with a straining "h" after the "a" and and a short spoken "o" at the end. "Ha-H-to". Can't declare it better, because I'm German. For instance: The Singer of the recent song "Sons of winter and stars" is named "Jari Mäenpää". That will break your tongue...;-)
