I was playing those songs when I was 16 years old, I grew up on thrash metal playing everything exclusively by ear using cassette tapes playing a piece of any given song rewinding parts over and over and over until I got them figured out, you can do it with CD's as well👍
Yeah, I was born in '75 so I was in the same boat. Growing up without the internet really helped us develop our ears. Magazines would publish some tabs, but if there was something specific we wanted to learn, we were on our own. High School was all about learning easier Sabbath tunes or maybe "For Whom the Bell Tolls". I imagine a whole army of young metal heads getting home from HS in the late eighties and early 90's, trying to learn these tunes, not realizing we were all sharing the same experience in our disconnected pre-internet world. I was lucky to have a little community of like-minded people to learn and jam with. I'm glad that TH-cam can provide a support system for young musicians that may live in smaller towns or be more isolated. Sorry for the ramble. I can slip into "nostalgia mode" pretty easily.
@ccavera no worries, I love it man, that's exactly how it was, to us those were the greatest times. I was born in 73 we would of been hanging out if we knew eachother 👍🎶🎸
More of this!!!!
❤

I herd about this from Mike from Art of Guitar. He calls it staggered picking
Nice. I’ll have to check it out.
Demonstrating this technique and omitting the most obvious use of it: Judas Priest's Painkiller.
I’m going to have to try that!
