Not bad at all. But the best vacuum for shampooing carpets and upholstery is Rainbow vacuum definitely. It's pricey but it is worth the cost!
I had this machine in the early nineties ; loved it . My mum and dad had the model before the original orange one .

Roger, I'm sure you know this tip - with these manually-wound vax cleaners, the power cable will last much longer if you wind the cable around the motor if you double the cable as you wind. In other words, bring the fused plug back to the machine, then wind the cable up two cable strands simultaneously. The rationale is that as you wind, it invariably kinks the individual strands inside. With two strands being wound, if one is kinked one way, the other (in theory) will go the other way. I was given this tip after my poor Vax 191 blew its cable and left a frightful scorch mark on the carpet, scaring the heck out of me! The Aussie technician that fixed this gave me this tip so that I wouldn't come back for another repair - silly man, if the cable and parts didn't fail, what would he do for work??
Lem Tay It's been back in its original box since this video, so I can't remember how I stored the cable, but I would have wrapped it loosely round the motor unit I expect.

Thanks for the vid 😃 I had an orange vax in 2006, this had the external shampoo pipe that was pumped (same as George really!) but it was a great machine!

This reminds me of a Shop Vac Which is similar to the Numatic Wet/Dry Vacs that you mentioned on your channel combined with the shampoo system from something like a Kirby minus the roller brush head. Also just like Kirby they recommend that you use their cleaning solution.
Thanks for sharing, I have a very old VAX found in my in'law's house, i have no idea of how to use it, i hope the washing solution is not too outdated, after watching this demo, i think i have a better idea how to set it up, will give it a go.

What is the best hoover to use watched your vid on the morphy rechards ... Seems to be in your other vids is this the best hoover for picking up dirt and unseen dirt ?
For the price, the Morphy Richards lift away is a very good cleaner and seems to deal with deep down dirt very well.

+TomVacuum I have only removed the suppressors on the Electrolux vacs that blew up and don't do it as a matter of routine.

What's the best carpet washing vacuum?
I like the Vax Dual V Spinscrub models and the older Vax Oasis Complete. The Vax Rapide Ultra 2 is good too and leave the carpet very dry but I didn't think it was very well built. You'll find more carpet washer reviews on my channel.

+Owais Hussain It is an old machine and not available brand new any more. The current version costs about £90 in the UK.
Does the British Vax solution not require any de-foamer in the recovery tank? The Aussie one definitely required one capful of defoamer to prevent excess suds building up in the 8L recovery tank.
Lem Tay I believe the early models needed defoamer and I think there was some defoamer in the box when I opened this Vax. If you search my channel you will see the unboxing video somewhere. I know that Vax changed the solution at some point so that defoamer was no longer necessary. I may have used some new Vax solution for this demo.
