When Phil gets and uses items its okay, but if literally anyone else uses any item its bullshit and they don't know how to play the game. I must've missed the part in the manual where it said only DSP was allowed to use items.
And that's why Phil is such a baby about items. He'll just even consider complaining about it when he's just too slow or even unable to grab them because he wants to take it out on his opponents. But then again, this is one reason why items are banned from Smash tournaments, they make it easy for one side to dominate the other.
Oh, I 100% agree that items can easily unbalance a game, but you might as well use them if they're there since otherwise they'll be used against you. But I guess its because he has no idea how to drop said items.
"I didn't know Incineroar was a grappler!" Uh no shit Sherlock, 5 seconds of research on the character would have told you that! Hell they told you about this on his release!
Yep, I'll be making a followup to this TiHYDP with the footage I couldn't fit in this one alongside the footage Phil will do that were done post-Christmas/New Year.

@@Aarantula actually, some people said this is low quality, even though I stated that I do the best I can to make this watchable and enjoyable for people to see DSP fail at gaming, that really makes me feel deflated and feel put down upon.
There are 5 hour TIHYDPs out there with no editing, no clips, nothing except the man himself (and we all know how boring he is). I had to come back to this old video its too funny to watch phil self destruct and did phil pay pig say you learn the character threw story mode uhhh no its threw training mode
I think the guy that was playing Donkey Kong and big blue was actually a detractor cuz there's actually a recording video that he did recording himself playing that exact level with DSP
Only thing laggy is Phils Brain, alll these years and Phil cant figure out the common denominator is Phil. Get off dial up Dave, 56k dont cut it, pro streamer
Why doesn't he just pick a character, train on a battleground against Lvl 8 CPUs for a total of around twenty hours (not while on stream), and THEN play Quick Play online to give his subscribers a better experience? If you don't have at least 10-20 hours of experience (mostly with one single character), you are going to get bodied online - even after your GSP inevitably tanks.
Sadly, Phil wants to rush into the game for those day one views so he can get those monies form his gullible whales. It wouldn't hurt to practice offline and off stream, but since Phil wants to go in unprepared as always, it's proof Phil wants to keep on giving his viewers low quality content.
It's been a couple of weeks and there's little "story" to speak of in WoL. I wouldn't worry too much at this point, we're not in the pre-release phases where people were streaming the game online weeks before the game even came out.
In Phil's defense the lag in smash ultimate is pretty bad. The poor connection is due to the game having an peer to peer connection system and the switch having a poor wifi connection
Is World of Light covered in this? How did he do in that? 31:40 It's called training mode... Dumbass... 1:17:38 Greatest moment on this TIHYDP so far. 1:19:08 I'm convinced DSP is Pigma
Sadly, World of Light isn't covered in this, it only covers the online multiplayer salt. Tray Pendland is doing the World of Light TiHYDP of Smash as I speak, I haven't really watched the World of Light gameplay from Phil, but knowing him, he'll just make his playthrough of that mode a total trainwreck.
@@someshyguy Oh dear, that explains why he is so unprepared for Online Multiplayer, he even never played Smash mode with CPU bots to sharpen his skills up.
To be fair, this game is incredibly laggy online. I haven't had a stable match yet, even when playing with friends. It can't be my connection, since Tekken and other fighting games are incredibly stable online. Edit: Mii couldn't be played online in Sm4sh, and Phil doesn't have friends so I don't blame him for not knowing Mii Swordfighter's moves.
Actually, I would agree with you if I played Smash online, but I haven't had the time to play it, I've been focusing on getting my skills in the right frame to play online, but going to the context of the video, it doesn't excuse Phil for having incompatible internet that he uses to stream games and in truth, he uses expensive business internet from Comcast which in truth is unsuitable for streaming, online gaming and so on, yet has the gaul to blame Nintendo for his shitty life decisions.
@@mitchdesertsquiddogaming That's fair, but I would drop online until it gets fixed, if it ever is fixed. I can see it doesn't usually excuse him, but here, I'd say he's right for the most part. I've bought a lan adapter, and it's THIS close to being great online. Sadly, I still feel delay, even if it's only slight, which makes the game worse for most players and can't be used for practise. Wifi on other games is fine, it's just Smash, and it doesn't get better once you hit Elite Smash. Phil plays with 3 others online, which dooms him from the start. It's very hard to get staple 4 player matches. He's also very bad at the game, to the point where it looks like he has never touched a Smash title. Thanks for taking your time to reply, didn't see the notification. It was a fine video, just wanted to leave my thoughts on things I thought were a bit too much.
@@Madssice To be fair though, Phil claims lag even when there's visibly none present. If lag was present, recording software would pick it up; and the mass majority of the time, there's zero noticeable lag present, let alone an amount that's sufficient enough to hinder gameplay. Obviously he's right this time, about Smash having lag issues; but even a broken clock is right twice a day, providing it's stubborn enough to churn on through its own nonsense.
@@kecukritiques2943 I agree, to an extend. Phil complains when there is no noticeable lag, or any lag at all. I don't think that complaining when there is slight delay is unjustified, since it does make a huge difference. Last weekend I played with some friends locally, and it was a blast since we just play better. When we're playing online, it is quite horrible even at its best. That can just be us, I don't play games with even the slightest delay online because it hinders me so much.
@@Madssice Playing through slight delay is a bit of an annoyance, agreed, but any pro gamer (as Phil likes to claim himself to be) should be able to accommodate for that delay. I think it all depends on the level of lag, and the cause for it. I can understand when you don't want to play in a laggy environment; it kills the fun, and I don't blame you for wanting to avoid it. But for me personally, my internet has never been great, so I experience lag on pretty much any game that uses a server and isn't a physical copy. Even Runescape stutters. I can typically adjust for between 1-2 second's worth of lag before it begins to grate a little. So Phil bitching about a quarter-second lag is hysterically ridiculous in my eyes. That being said, I play via WiFi because I have no other option at the moment. Phil has every option to use a LAN connection for his Switch. But he pays extra just to use WiFi over a business line, and then sometimes plays against people from halfway across the nation, if not further afield...obviously he's going to experience issues. He has no excuse to complain about lag when he supposedly experiences it enough to learn how to adapt, and then never attempts to apply a solution.
Dulltooth I will consider doing an LTG Edition of TiHYDP Smash, but I’ll need a lot of prep time for that and to find all the footage of his session of Smash.
Know this is a super late comment on a relatively old video, but I still feel the need to say something hypothetically to DSP as someone who's been playing Smash for a good while now. Sure, Phil. Sure it was the lag. Sure it was a fluke you got KO'd here or there. Sure it's the buggy system. It wasn't because of your own incompetence, lack of foresight, or refusal to learn from your own mistakes. Sure, it was the hecking lag or someone else's doing that your Smash skills aren't up to snuff. How and why people give this guy money and attention astounds me.
His original Dark Souls 3 run was awful. He complained the entire time how it didn't work on Xbox One (years later his second run on PS4 he goes on about how it actually works on that console) at all. I've played all the DS games in Xbone and had no issues with any of them. Then again this is the man who complained during a Castlevania game (Lord of Shadows 1 or 2 don't remember which) how it kept dropping his inputs, followed promptly by him slamming the controller into the table. Hard enough to see the camcorder he was filming with shake, even mentioned he was putting dents in the table. Like yeah the inputs are dropping, you are breaking the controller. Wouldn't surprise me if his Xbox One controller was broken.
Originally, he was an Xbox fanboy years ago (mostly due to playstation and Nintendo being Japanese consoles) and said the PS3 ”was made for autistic people”. But later he switched to Playstation because of more first-party games coming out for it.
@@Lobsterwithinternet I don't understand the whole console war. Just play on what you want but really? He said that about PS3 owners? Wow. Also nice username.
@@Lobsterwithinternet and now he’s back to being chill with Xbox lmao He actually got called out by the official Xbox Twitter account and instead of going on a rage rant against them, he went along and joked with them.
I haven't played online, but some people think that because they have terrible internet, but Phil always maxes out his internet bandwidth by streaming at a higher bitrate even though Twitch told him to lower his bitrate settings. Also, Nintendo needs time to sort out the internet problems and stability, just give them a fair chance mate, blame Phil for maxing out his bandwidth 24/7, you want a perfect example of him blaming lag when he intentionally maxes out his internet? Every Street Fighter game he plays online and some others like CoD, Battlefield, Splatoon and many others due to how Phil deliberately ignores Twitch's ToS.
Tests have been conducted to show that the input delay is even worse than Sm4sh's. It isn't even just Phil saying it, lots of professional Smashers like ZeRo and Leffen have had the same complaint and I'd wager that they're going to be able to afford decent internet. Concerning Twitch telling Phil to lower his bitrate, wasn't that years ago? I've seen other streamers streaming considerably high bit rates like around 6,000 and haven't heard word of Twitch telling them to lower it. Maybe they became sturdier since then. I'm curious if Phil uses an Ethernet cable now. Nintendo needing more time honestly sounds absurd. They already delayed the Nintendo Switch online for months and there are still lots of critiques saying it's worse than the Wii U's and that was free. Considering now it's a paid for service, I don't think it'd be unrealistic to expect them as a consumer for their product to have gotten their act together by now. If I shouldn't be expected to complain, then they shouldn't have made the service something you're required to pay for to play online if they delayed it for so long which ultimately makes people wistful for a half baked service that was free previously for extended time. Haven't been in the detractor loop for a year or so, but just my take that ya may have been a tad overly critical.
@@Aarantula OK, I think you may have a point, I think I might have been too harsh on Phil and believe I might be defending Nintendo a little too far. Sorry... -_-
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. Phil still sucks as a person, just sometimes it helps to take a step back and give some consideration and then rip in according to it.
Far be it from me to deny that. Phil still sucks as a person and is a poor sport. But call me a fool then, because it looked like at least he was having fun... though he still also shows signs of having not changed. I can't believe he was questioning the stream chat being "off topic". LOL
@@mitchdesertsquiddogaming Yeah sure, but you can't defend they're making you pay for a online service that is complete garbage. That's the only thing i can agree with the pigroach about.
So, I should stop defending Nintendo because they are doing an online service like Micro$hit and Sony? I know Nintendo's service is far from perfect, but it is no way garbage and by agreeing with Phil, you are giving Phil too much power and saying Nintendo Online is garbage is beating a dead horse, Nintendo will MAKE improvements, it's just you guys don't give them the chance. And on the subject of the lag, Phil is using a router that's incapable of gaming or streams and instead of getting a better connection, he is getting more issues and Smash isn't the only one that Phil whined about lag. Other games included are Street Fighter, Tekken, Dead or Alive and even Marvel vs. Capcom, look at those other fighting game playthroughs and see how many times Phil whines about lag, it's a goldmine.
@@mitchdesertsquiddogaming They shouldn't fuck it up cause of what we say. If there's a problem for the consumers, just fix the problem. Btw, they're no different from Microsoft and Sony by charging for online service, but atleast Microsoft and Sony actually fix their servers instead of giving us paid bullshit. But, let's see if they actually do listen to the consumers.

"This guy's (Incenroar) normals suck!" Is he seriously complaining about a grappler when he's not even using his grabs?
The sad part is, Phil doesn't have the brain cell to take the time to adapt to certain character movesets which is why he is really slipping big time when it came to Incineroar.
Well inceneroar is still pretty trash

Update folks! I have last night finished off the sequel to this video and I will start with the putting the video together with a recap of what's happened so far and all the footage of the sequel of this "This is How You DON'T Play" video will have the footage not featured in this one (obviously due to the deadline I had to fulfil) as well as some of the post-Christmas and post-New Year footage (which we didn't get much due to Phil's fake choking illness) and I will put the video up as soon as I have rendered it, but hopefully it won't be as long as this video, so hope you look forward to the sequel to "This is How You DON'T Play" Super Smash Bros. I think Phil's biggest problem is trying to play Smash like a normal fighting game (Tekken, MK, SF, etc.)
Your editing makes me look forward to the parts with only Phil.
he called battlefield a "horrible map" lol
"I didn't know Incineroar was a grappler!" Uh no shit Sherlock, 5 seconds of research on the character would have told you that! Hell they told you about this on his release!

Mah pleasure mahn! ACKACKACKACKACK!
Only thing laggy is Phils Brain, alll these years and Phil cant figure out the common denominator is Phil. Get off dial up Dave, 56k dont cut it, pro streamer
It hurts to watch
HA! A win for the Inkling World Order in the first match. They heard his toxic squealing from his Splatoon disasters and delivered some justice.
It wouldn't hurt to practice offline and off stream, but since Phil wants to go in unprepared as always, it's proof Phil wants to keep on giving his viewers low quality content.
is this just him online?
Yes this TiHYDP only contains the online multiplayer as I didn't want to spoil the World of Light story unlike what Phil did.

NOOOOOO WHY!? I just finished the Adventure Mode of this game 100% only to find this fuck touched this great game. No. Just no.

Sadly, World of Light isn't covered in this, it only covers the online multiplayer salt.
He has no excuse to complain about lag when he supposedly experiences it enough to learn how to adapt, and then never attempts to apply a solution.
no LTG?
Dulltooth I will consider doing an LTG Edition of TiHYDP Smash, but I’ll need a lot of prep time for that and to find all the footage of his session of Smash.
1:19:22 YOU THINK EVERYTHING’S A WASTE OF YOUR TIME!
IF THIS IS SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS FOR YOU, WHY DON’T YOU GET A JOB???
Sometimes I watch DSP's Twitch streams and play "Good Guy" in the comments section.
Or should I say "Good Gal" since I have a keyhole?
He is so bad LMAO
Know this is a super late comment on a relatively old video, but I still feel the need to say something hypothetically to DSP as someone who's been playing Smash for a good while now.
Sure, Phil. Sure it was the lag. Sure it was a fluke you got KO'd here or there. Sure it's the buggy system.
It wasn't because of your own incompetence, lack of foresight, or refusal to learn from your own mistakes. Sure, it was the hecking lag or someone else's doing that your Smash skills aren't up to snuff.
How and why people give this guy money and attention astounds me.
1:18:35 what the fuck phil, I see no delay at all
Fucking hilarious. Great editing.
Doesn't he hate Xbox too? He's talked shit on it just as much as Nintendo, look at his dark souls playthrough, specifically 3.
But later he switched to Playstation because of more first-party games coming out for it.

you know he’s not actually wrong about the lag. ultimate online is pretty bad regardless of your internet speed
that intro
I'd be laughing if Phil wasn't right. But yeah, the online play for Smash Bros Ultimate is actually hot garbage.
Sorry... -_-

Just saying, you were defending Nintendo a little too much.
