- Today I'm sharing a much anticipated road trip we've had planned for over 3 months. It turned out to be a really fun time. We don't visit the big city often, but when we do it's thoroughly enjoyed by us all. I even share a few travel tips with you so your next trip to the big city goes smoothly. Another fantastic lifetime memory making adventures trip with those beautiful kids of yours. These are the times they will NEVER forget with you. Happy Mother's Day Jennifer. I was raised off and on in Chicago and the Shedd Aquarium is amazing as is the Museum of Science and Industry.
Went there many times and never have seen it all.
Buckingham Fountain is amazing at nighttime when it’s all lit up.
Sears Towers have a miraculous view.
Solider Field was where I went to my first concert, Super Bowl of rock back in the 70’s.
Looks like so much fun was had by the children. Joe liked Medieval Times the best it sounds like.

The Buckingham Fountain wasn't running yet. Our pedicab driver said it didn't start up until May 11, which was the next week. Even so it looked like a really neat fountain.
I'm with Peter on the highrise glass floor, LOL, not a fan of high places. Thank you for sharing what looked like a great time.

What an action packed & educational trip...even Macy's! I've never been to Chicago but I feel like I have now, thanks. You were right on the money abt the age of the bldg being abt 140 yrs old; that was impressive. Your pedicab ride looked much less scary than the ones in NYCity. We have a Medieval Times across the street from our neighborhood. Imagine pulling up to the Wendy's drive thru & being behind a couple knights on horses picking up lunch! LOL. It was so surreal, we all grabbed our phones to take photos & call friends :-) Happy Super Mom Day to you
As Deb's daughter, I can attest that seeing the FULLY-DRESSED Medival Times performers on their HORSES casually picking up dinner from the Wendy's Drive-Thru was certainly a ~knight~ to remember! 😅😆🤣

It actually wasn’t too bad. Peter helped me navigate (he was my young eyes) and we just expected plenty of stalled traffic.

Hi Jennifer! That was such a nice trip that you took the kids on! You know, I used to get such anxiety when I had to do things like that. I guess it was because I wanted the kids to have a good time while worrying about the cost of it all. Looking back, I could have mapped out our trips a little better than just winging it lol. I thought it was funny when you took the kids to Medieval times and no matter how great the show, Joe was just upset that he didn’t ride the horse. I guess that would akin to an, “all that and a piece of cake too?” Type of moment. I’m glad you had a fun, safe trip. God knows we need those now and then.

Happy early Mother’s Day to you! Looks like a way fun trip and your kids are so well behaved no matter where they are. I laughed at the fact it was Maria’s first time in an escalator yeah unless she had been to the Fox River mall not too many in your part of the state. I hope you get to show us through dresses you picked. It’s hard picking formal west I just had to buy a new dress first a cruise and formal wedding myself ugh ..
Have fun on the cruise and at the wedding; those are both good excuses for a fancy dress.
Jennifer and kids, what a great trip. We love the Shedd Aquarium. The Museum of Natural History and The Museum of Science and Industry are also really great places to see. We live about 90+ miles or so from there and been to all 3 couple of times. Thanks for sharing.
Next time I’d love to explore the museums.
Many years ago, I remember the Museum of Natural History being a favorite.
I love Chicago. My son lives in the city. It’s about a 6 hr drive N to get there but I go up about every 3 months for a week or two !
A full week would be great 👍 we hardly scratched the surface.
I always have mixed feelings about aquariums and zoos. Its a great learning opportunity and exciting to see the animals up close, however, its sad to see animals in captivity.
Many of these animals are injured and could never survive in the wild.
LOVE the Shedd. We’ve been there twice, along with the other museums. I can’t view till the end right this minute, did you guys do the City Pass?? It’s definitely cheaper to get in to multiple places.

We didn't do the City Pass as we only wanted to do a couple of things and not be too pressed for time.

My granddaughters were in Chicago for a volleyball tournament and wanted to go to the aquarium but you had to buy tickets in advance. Maybe next time.
Amazon dresses are horrible. They are expensive, ugly and don’t fit. I have better luck with walmart
