Best video I've ever seen... It really shows the beauty of the Curacao reefs. I lived here Curacao all my life and never imagined it being so beautiful
Scott Belcher We spent most of our time under the water, so we didn’t do any sightseeing. A visit to Willemstad is worth doing. I think they also have jeep safaris that I’ve heard are fun to do. Enjoy your trip!
We were diving with Ocean Encounters and we liked the house reef (from the Sunscape)and Car Pile, Beacon Point, Shipwreck Point, Director's Bay, Sandy's Plateau,, Bullenball, Barracuda Point,. We also dived East Point which was funb, and Kleine Curacao Tarpon Bridge. Enjoy!
@@GerryGreenGoProMermaid hey! great video! so what is an absolute must-dive? I thought of Klein-Curacao, East Point and watamula as boat dives, how is it? And you're a lucky man to see that hammerhead!
Do you remember the dive site names you went to? I love how close you were able to get and stay to that stingray - hope to see one myself when I'm there in two weeks!
The hammerhead was at Directors Bay, funny really because the dive briefing tells the story of how the dive site got its name. The director of the petroleum company was given permission to build a house there but his wife wouldn’t go in the sea in case there were sharks, so he built a big fence underwater to keep sharks away. However, there were never any sharks there anyway. That was the first sighting of a hammerhead in many years and the first photo or video of it! I can find out the name of the stingray site when I return from the dive trip I’m currently on in St Lucia towards the end of the month?
Im from belgium in Europe and my mom is going to curacao tomorrow and im just scared because she will dive and do stuff like that. So my question is. Is it really that safe and does accidents never take place?
It’s a very safe place to dive. The shark that we saw rarely goes there. That was the first sighting in over seven years and it’s not been seen since. She’ll have a great time and she’ll be perfectly safe!
@@GerryGreenGoProMermaid thank you so much for responding so quick! Im 18 and im just overreacting because im gonna miss her so much… she’s everything to me hehe, but thanks for answering that made me feel safer
The dive with the hammerhead was Director’s Bay but the video was filmed in a variety of dive sites around Curacao. The dive briefing for Director’s Bay always tells of how the director of the petroleum company was given permission to have a house there, but his wife would only go in the sea if he built a fence to keep sharks out! Usually nobody sees any sharks here, and very rarely a hammerhead!
Stienoe 033 forgot to say that we got really lucky with the hammerhead, as the previous hammerhead sighting was 7 years earlier and too far away to photograph or video! That was at Director’s Bay and the dive briefing is about no sharks there, so it was really funny!
Patrick Teunissen I used a red filter on the Go Pro 3+, occasionally I used a macro lens. When I used lights I removed the red filter. I used Cyberlink Power Director for editing, but didn't enhance any of the colours, just for trimming the clips. The hammerhead was the first one seen there in over 7 years so I got lucky on that dive!!!

What camera was used for this incredible video?
I used a Go Pro 3+. Sometimes I used lights and for macro I used a macro attachment. Glad that you enjoyed it.
Was this all during one dive??
Stienoe 033 I wish!!!!! No we were there for two weeks and did 16 dives!

Nice! Did you use any filters? Or standard settings? Maybe you edited in post production? I'm very curious! :)

I went there with ocean encounters but not lucky to see a shark
We were with Ocean Encounters. We just got lucky! It had been several years since a hammerhead had been spotted there !
