In my humble opinion the strategy of not sleeping when trembling until you’re at your destination and it’s a reasonable evening hour is the absolute best strategy! It might be hard to keep awake but it’ll pay off 😅

I agree! I did that when I went from Germany to Korea one time. It wasn't even that hard because the excitement of the trip kept me awake, and I slept like a baby the first night. No jetlag whatsoever😊

Becca and Anna took Bop-it to the ultimate level! Woah that storm! I hate Midwestern storms! I grew up in the mountains where a storm is a very different experience. Midwestern storms are so overwhelming! I wish I could go back to the mountains! 😢
Grandmas rock! We can sympathize with the Midwest storms. Southern Minnesota seems to sit smack dab on the border between two fronts all the time. Makes for exciting weather!

Seeing this video of good old America compared to life in Japan and the first thing I notice is how much more space there is everywhere in America. We're blessed. I did have a poorboy at Merichka's when in Joliet and it was as good as I remember. Worth coming home for.

小学生の頃、アメリカではないですが、お父さんについてエジプトに1ヶ月か2ヶ月か？行ってた子がいました！
今思えば普通に学校ある日から休んで行ってたので、賛否両論あるのでしょうが、田舎だからか？みんな「おおー！すげー！」って感じで、先生も楽しそうに私達に伝えてくれました😊
私自身もすごく羨ましかったのを覚えています。
帰ってきたら、たくさんの土産話をみんなで聞き、エジプトってハト食べるんだ〜😮と驚いたのが印象に残っています。
色んなものや人を見て文化を感じて、考えて、自分の中にたくさん積めるといいですね😊思いきり楽しんでください❤

夏休みをアメリカで長期滞在するということはお子さん達の進路は高校からインターナショナルスクールにするかミッション系の私立校にするかの選択でしょうか。公立高校への進学は中学の時の部活動も必須だったような気がしますが今は違うのでしょうか。試験選抜は関係ないかな。親戚がいるアメリカでの生活を満喫できるお子さん達は幸せですね。

Wow! Sarah can’t sleep and Joshua wins, not how I expected that. And Ruth just got an hour. 😭 My family flies to Spain in a few days. What is your best tip for flying internationally from the states? Love the Midwest storms, although they can be scary. Enjoy your visit if you’re still here!😊
I think staying flexible the first couple of days really helps. If you feel good, get out and do stuff. But if you're hitting a wall, just rest!

Jet Lag is no Joke! When I came back to Japan in 2022, I was in New York and was sleeping on and off for the 24 hours after I landed lol.

How much space there is in-between everything! That would top the list. That and wearing shoes inside of homes.

Your new house in Japan is just a detached house, not an apartment, so it's quite spacious, isn't it?
We certainly have a better place for people to come and visit now. My parents will probably visit sometime next year :)

７月4日は公立の小学校、中学校はまだ夏休みでなく授業があっています。日本人の感覚だと学校を休ませて旅行に行くというのは考えられないのだけどアメリカの感覚では親が決定することなのでしょう。文化の違いなのでしょうね。
