Without a doubt the Browning 725 with mechanical triggers has a faster second shot. To me that gives it a big advantage. What if your first shot is a dud or bad reload or defective shotshell, with inertia triggers (525) you lost out. With mechanical triggers you still have a shot. Great video. Thanks
Thats the one im going for and compete with aswell as casual club shooting. Im on order for the 32 version, had a go with alot of others that are double money but in no way for me fit so well straight out of the box and feel so good with out standing handling.
I own a 725 Browning Feather 12 gauge over under shotgun. It has 26 inch long barrels and weighs 6 pounds and 7 ounces. I absolutely love it. Chambered for 3 inch and under shells. I use extended and ported blackened stainless steel Tru-Lock chokes in improved cylinder and improved modified on my 725 Feather 12 gauge over under shotgun.
Thanks again David .Great video, as you're said many a time ! go to your local shooting school . I did , along with an open mind but also a few in the back of my mind ie 525 725 and 687 silver pigeon etc. . At the end of the day the gun i felt really at home with was the Miroku Mk70 , came up to the shoulder and felt right in the hands , Which to me reiterate"s your point David ,
The Browning website shows the drop at comb for the standard sporters of the 525 & 725 to be the same so it is not correct to say the comb height is different between the two models
I'm shooting a browning 325 and absolutely love using it! Good to know my options if I ever want to add another gun to the cabinet! cheers for this comparison David!
I own a 725, I wanted a 525, after shooting both. I went 725 black. my wife owns a upland mk 11 miroku. (she wanted a mk70) both of us love the 725/mk11. I prefer the winchester 101 from Olins. the 725 is very very close to the 101.
I started shooting with a 525,then upgraded to a 725 prosport, had the 725 for 3 months then went for my 525 back before they sold it,lesson i learnt, should have stuck with my 525.😉
I had a similar experience 20 years ago. I had a Lightning Sporting Clays low rib that worked very well for me. I did some horse trading and picked up a 425 with stunning wood. I put the Lightning in the safe for a season. I brought it out with the intent to sell it but took it and the 425 to the club for one last comparison. Shooting both guns back to back the Lightning just worked better for me in fit and such so I put the 425 up for sale. The first person that looked at it was a shooting friend from another club and he asked if he could take it out for a round. He came back and asked me what I wanted for it which he agreed to quickly. It turned out that he went straight on his local course with the gun cold.
Thanks for the video. The thing with either of these 2 firearms is that NEITHER of them are a bad choice. I've gotten back into the sport after a decade+ layoff last fall and was looking for a new gun. Where I shoot I've been VERY lucky to have friends that have a decent selection of different guns. Before choosing the 725 I was able to put a bit of work in with Beretta 682, 686, 690, 694. Caesar Guerini Summit, Summit Ascent. Fabarm Elos. Browning 425, 525, CX, CXS, XS, and 725. Perazzi MX8 and HiTech. I found for how I'm built the 725 came out just a bit ahead of the 525 with the CX in third place. This was due to how the guns fit and handled FOR ME. The MX8's that I've been able to run this year were better in the fit and handling dept than any of the above guns but they cost substantially more than any of the others. If I were a serious competitor I'd make the stretch for one though. Enjoy your content and looking forward to the next video!
Great Vid thank you - I chose the B525 given that it felt a little more substantial and there was some nicer hand graving over the 725. It was a very difficult choice.
Just for conversation: I have a Browning Citori 725 Sporting w/adj comb, 32 inch barrels (0135533009), I paid $2800.00 in (2014) and about $100.00 for the added custom removable made weights. OEM Browning weight is 7 lbs. 13 oz. I added weight to the barrels and butt stock to evenly balance at the hinge pin (added 7.94 lbs). Now my gun weights in at 8.668125 lbs. which to me is now perfect. I shoot skeet, trap, sporting clays all with the same gun. The Beretta DT11, JDTLB12 , SPORTING B-FAST, 32 inch barrels, est. weights 8.333474 lbs. = 3780g $12075.00 The perazzi High Tech Sporter S, 32 inch barrels, est. weights 8lbs 6.7oz (3.788KG) $12,855.40 = £10,517 So for me the weight is very compareable but the price of my gun compared to the Berreta and Perazzi is huge.
@@dougharlow6037yes, but the Perazzi and DT11 are in a class of their own and not in the same league, 725 is an amazing shotgun though, more in a 694 Beretta class.
Love my 725 w mechanical trigger system mine is from the states called a northeast edition black receiver not as many chokes but about same price as 525
Your 725 sounds similar to mine. The place I picked mine up from had an excusive with Browning where the gun has a blued receiver, 2 choke tubes, 1 trigger blade, 1 recoil pad, and the unique thing being 31 inch barrels. Mine scales at 7lb 13oz which is fairly light but with the stock and good recoil pad it's surprisingly soft shooting.
Very informative thank you for doing that. Where I live (NZ) I have seen a 725 in 20ga for sale, I'd like to know, has the 20ga version got a down sized action, or is it a 12ga with 20ga barrels? THANX.
I’m going to buy a new browning as a Christmas gift to myself. My dad wants me to buy the 725 and I want the CXS. I just can’t justify the extra $1,000 when I pick them both up.
I just layawayed a CXS WHITE 32 inch with an amazing wood for $2317.00, going to sell a few shotguns to cover the cost. I may look into 725 later down the line as well, a good used one, the difference is the trigger system and the 725 is a bit lighter i believe.
525 known as the Citori in the U.S., then there's the Citori 725. 525 here is not offered in a neutral or left hand palm swell like the 725 is, and the 725 is about 1,000 USD or more over the 525. I'm a left handed shooter so not sure what to do. I hear the Cynergy is ambi-neutral grip?
Hi David, again a great and instructive movie. Thank you for that. I started shooting again after a pause of more or less ten years. I owned Beretta 687 20 bore and Blaser F3 12 bore. I was in to buying a Beretta 20 field but after a few test shots fell in love with a Browning 525 Exquisite 20. What a sweet gun! I can only confirm: go to your shooting school and try... and then make up your mind in function of your budget.
I have both and enjoy both. I prefer the 525 if I had to choose between them especially if they made the 525 a mechanical trigger rather than its inertia trigger.
They are ok if you want to spend that sort of money I would recommend giving David or Doug a call at The Oxford Gun Company they will be happy to help you 01844 238 308 Thanks TSC team.
Just got the Browning Cynergy CX 32". love to see your opinion on it. Just got into Trap shooting this past year. So far I'm loving this gun! Thanks for all your helpful videos!
Which of the 2 would be closest to my miruku mk60? Would like upgrade a bit to a multi choked gun with grade 5 wood and so on but the mk60 fits me perfectly have you any recommendations?
I have a 525 and a mk60 grade 5 (both 20 gauge 30’ barrel. Close as Same gun. 725 looks less « massive « , 5mm lower i think and more esthetique. My choice.if you

Excellent! I have 2 Browning Citori I purchased used in the 1980s with 26 inch barrels.
40 years later they are still my go-to bird hunting shotguns.
B525 Laminate is the one for me. Something different, plus harder wearing and a bit softer shooting with it being quite heavy
The xs pro have the same measures of stock than the 525sl laminated?.
Thank you!

@@mixerman8 yeah I have the 32 and I have been really impressed with it. Lovely balance , shoots very soft and looks lovely.
I have the ultra xs exquisite and adore it. Love the 525 action. I used to dabble with beretta and even a zoli but would never change from browning
Well, since you can win world championships with Brownings, there´s really no reason to change, other than personal preference :-)

I have a 525 sporter one purchased in Melbourne Australia. The measurements are 40 mm and 63 mm which I wouldn't call that a high comb.

At that level and cost of a weapon it doesn't matter which gun you buy you buy the one that fits you the best that makes more difference than anything
So glad to see this comparison. Thank you for making this. I haven't bought either one yet because I can't decide.
LOVE my 525 Shadow. First gun I purchased and would never sell it
Both have straight barrels and go pop when you squeeze the trigger
525 for me invector plus extended briley chokes
I have had (2) 725 prosports with the matt black barrels & action & both guns started to loose the finish within 6 mty.
Thanks David. Would it be possible to do a Demo for the 525 SE with Trap Fore End.
Brilliant comparison video, excellent in-depth info - thanks!

That does sound real close I have 32” barrels don’t know the weight but everything else is the same love great shooter
725 Sporter Laminated would be a very interesting option...
The 725 is not stamped with CIP nor the Fleur de lis. Is it proofed for HP steel rounds (using the appropriate choke of course)?
