Dear professor Jens, I noticed that you enumerated clusters based on dendrogram appearance, but, new variable did starting at case #1. Which is the standard way to pic clusters? Thanks for the video. Regards from Fortaleza, Ce, Brasil.
Professor, Can i do Hierarchial cluster analysis, using 4 individual Likert items (each measured on a 5 point scale). These 4 items assess attitude of respondent, and they constitute a single latent variable, in my study.
Practically, the question would be, why not. The variables share the same scale levels and are measured on the same type of scale. So from this perspective no problems persist. I would however ask why you did not want to use an exploratory factor analysis since I see the aim of your analysis in generating a latent variable.
Respected SIR, kindly guide, I have 79 questions (line items) in questionnaire now I want to cluster these questions (line items) into distinct variable. Kindly guide me how can I cluster these questions (line items) in spss. Thanks in anticipation. SIr , I already have done principal component analysis but my supervisor want to see some sort of cluster analysis as a new contribution.
Usually factor analysis of any kind would be the go to solution for this type of issue. If you still want to go with cluster analysis, in the main dialog you can switch from cases to variables. This will allow you to cluster your items.
Thank you very much for this video! Can you tell please, for which reason this test is used for?

@@jensk.perret6794 Prof, I want to generate three distinct clusters of cases/ respondents, not distinct factors, therefore cannot use EFA
hello, is this same as AHP?
Simply put: no. But depending on your objective it can offer an additional alternative.
