I agree that if people believe that Valve is not doing enough with their product that people should stop buying stuff for them. That is their financial decision. But what people may not realize is monetary boycotts aren't effective as effective as some say it is due to there always being someone that buys something due to social stigma. Plus it's much harder to do that kind of boycott, requiring enough people to make a significant dent in the income of the developer If you want to take it a step further, stop playing the game as well, since companies and players will see the player count and decide the health of the game. Pirate Software, a TH-camr who has worked for Blizzard in the past, is a current game dev, and a reliable source of information when it comes to video games companies, said it best: "If you see a company that is treating you badly as a player, stop playing their game." Plus, it will visualize it more to everyone that the game is not doing well if more and more people stop playing it Honestly, do both. Hit Valve double as hard with multiple points of attack. Combine this with terrible press and they will have to do something official, otherwise it sets a precedent for the company in the future (even though their future doesn't looks too good right now) #FixTF2

I assumed we’d get one this year but I was informed that there was no spring update either and that the most recent crate in the mannco store is last year’s winter key. The last blog post is from February of last year talking about the 2023 holiday sized update. We have had nothing since then other than the update to 64x. I have no reason to believe we’re getting an update this summer. Is there something I’m missing?
I don’t think we’ve ever had a spring one but we always got Halloween and Christmas. Eric Smith said that there will be an update this year, but it will be a much smaller one than last year. For more information, I recommend looking up this tour

I fear all a boycott will do is make Valve see line going down and go "servers aren't worth keeping up guys; shut em down!" and it ends up killing TF2. Besides; TF2 is a drop in the ocean compared to CS:Go and Dota money. Let alone Steam.
They cant shut down TF2. If they do, it will crash the CS2 and Dota economys because players will fear their items aren't same. They CANNOT shut down TF2, so they have abused it instead. This protest is about putting an end to that.
@@Lonqudor TF2 is a game that has received 0 actual support beyond community made items for years. It had planned updates and lore comics abandoned. In the freemium economy, the companies don't give a fuck if one person, or even the majority of the playerbase stops spending money. It only takes a select few to make a big purchase to completely nullify anything the larger community bands together for, whether those people are against the protests, or they're just not part of the bigger community, you can't assume that every single fixTF2 video reaches every single player, there's enormous chunks of the gaming community as a whole that do not participate within it, and don't acknowledge the wider existence of discourse about video games. Stop PLAYING the game. That's where the metrics hit. Also, keep making videos, making noise, make sure this doesn't just go away. THAT IS HOW YOU PROTEST.
Im honestly kind of skeptical of a financial boycott tbh, valve doenst rely on tf2 for money since steam makes them millions every day, so an unintended side affect of the boycott might be valve losing all interest in tf2 since it wouldn't make them money, and for them to leave it in a state like day of defeat or smth tho im not saying dont do it, just giving my concerns over it

As a matter of fact, i will NEVER play the game or buy anything tf2 related until the game gets fixed.
I don't expect anything meaningful out of the Summer Update, the timeline is just too short to get anything of value done. At MOST they "hop on the treadmill", do a big banwave and add the current botting scripts to VAC, but that will just delay the bots for a couple of months. If we want fundemental change, we're going to need a bigger, more long-term, concerted effort. This might not work, but a big problem is that bots can party up and stack servers. Restricting F2P party size to 2 or 3 might make it a bit easier to deal with bots (while also not completely shutting out the party up function for legitimate people). Another option may be Trust Factor. Get kicked for botting enough and soon the account will only be placed into lobbies with other accounts in a similar predicament. One problem is that Trust Factor doesn't seem to be doing much for Counter Strike 2, so I dunno if it's been defeated or what.
We need to keep the pressure on Valve! If we stop concentrating on them specifically with this movement, they'll feel less pressure. KEEP! VALVE! NERVOUS! It's a business at the end of the day, and they can't afford for profits to go down on all their games (not just TF2, but that new game they're so invested in... No one will play if the same issues break it the same day it comes out)
I never targeted anyone directly. If anything I do have to say deadlock is the ugly stepchild of TF2 nobody wanted. TF2 is a classic and even if we don't get a major update if they made a more righteous anticheat and eliminated the bots, then I would be eternally greatfull and spend $1000 on cases and get at least a few unusual. Until then I will finish any mvm tours I'm doing and never spend a single cent again. Money talks.
I really hope other game communities take a page out of the #fixtf2 people because this problem is not just a Valve problem, it's a gaming problem. And i have a strong feeling that even if Valve isn't hearing us, other devs will. Just remember, only the devs can fix this, not the "bad actors."
I always considered that... other stuff... Seperate from the movement. Thats really its own thing. We arent dividing attention, but there isnt much to do but wait. So why not have something unrelated to do on the side?
This literally reminds me of the numerous protests that went on during the 1950s till now. A well meaning movement that seeks change until it either got sabotaged or infighting ensues. Then it slowly degrades into this thing, this hivemind, this abomination, that scares others off and make others see the whole movement as just a bunch of degenerates or delusional children. The fact that this is happening so quickly shows the glaring state that the community has been facing for years, from mental health issuss, financial exploitation, and others. The cycle is repeating itself and there isn't much for you guys to really do about it unless you all approach this movement in a different way, not with the whole forced positivity or doxing and being a literal public nuisance. But uhhh....I'm done yapping now, off to sleep!
I really hope that the FixTf2 movement would actually achieve something from valve, casue, if not, we would have basically lost the last Titan of gaming industry that atleast tried to accomodate theyre communities. Still, even if it would not work, it was still fun and proudly to be a part of a movement against a common good for everyone. Great video as always mate and i hope you would recover soon.
Unironically the only thing that could have made this work was if that one guy had dozed the botters and if people were encouraged to spread the protest around. Stopping people from boycotting and protesting other valve games was the dumbest thing aswell
I think it's about time to deliver the signatures to valve, and to start to organize the summer update boycott, unless we see fixes related to the bots, we shouldn't buy any of the new maps
The same day this video came out is the same day then the tf2 devs tweeted out “2fort could use some galvanized square steel and eco-friendly wood veneers”
I’ve spoken to him on and off on Discord. He seems insanely busy, personally spending hundreds of his own dollars to manage the website and various other things. If you want more information from Weezy I recommend checking out Lucid’s live streams where popular TF2 figures, like Weezy, make a weekly appearance
@@Lonqudor Yeah thats the really tough part. It hurts every party but might have a long term benefit and since the trading sites mainly care about money its very unlikely
That would just funnel the people who want to buy items into the steam community market; it may actually benefit them somewhat, at least in the short term.
I really don't think a boycott is going to work (not that I don't support it but I just don't think most people are gonna boycott) so I hope there is a plan after this whole boycotting thing.
We need #fixtf2 to remain focused on the goal. We are treading a dangerous line, one where if we are not careful we will show to Valve and the world that Games as a Service is right for shutting them down or you will face backlash for letting your game exist. This is why #fixtf2 needs to remain focused on its goal. Yet I genuinely believe we as a community should look for proper solutions as well, not just rely on Valve because the company that came up with fixing F2P would get billions easily and it has not been solved by any major companies. There is a difference between asking Valve for a miracle and trying to make a miracle while asking Valve. Especially since if we as a community could come up with it we could be the ones who controls who profits from it. Meaning Valve couldn't just use tool to get rich and stop.
I saw this coming, it was only a matter of time until someone gets pushed to the point where they wanna take matters into their own hands against bot hosters. The method of payback is not what I expected at all though…
#AbandonTF2 instead everybody... Now hear me out before you all go and condemn me... I know that all of you want to save the game but if you really want to do so then the only advice that I could give you all is to stop playing the game *TEMPORARILY,* let's show Valve our *INSURGENCY* against them! Let's make them take us seriously! No, we cannot hurt Valve's profits, but we can still hurt whatever it is that gives them their profits Although there are still some bots that would play the game, the lack of real and actual players will damage their *REPUTATION* and Profit making So I'm asking all of you to temporarily stop playing their games and *ENDURE* for as long as it takes; Come back again when Valve has finally agreed to our *DEMANDS* Let's all temporarily #AbandonTF2... So we can actually save it

What, what did I miss

@@jecksfoxofficial Let's just say some of them have lost sight of their original goals
The same day this video came out is the same day then the tf2 devs tweeted out “2fort could use some galvanized square steel and eco-friendly wood veneers”
the robussy tho
No
Lets keep up the good fight, guys! We won't give up 'till the bots go down!
How did we went from asking valve to fix the game to uhh making corn?
Wait im sorry this protest abot vavle? I was thinking it's abot bot's and bot's olny
Time to play other games guys.
Leave these foolish ambitions to rest.
We need to do this protest, if not to get valve to do something, then to prove zealot wrong, he's a doomer, we can't let him win.
Great video, I hope you'll get better soon :)
0:28 totaly not pointing out the "hey, let's make porn of the oc hackeurs lol"
It is too late to boycott because if you boycott now, they might just abandon the game.
Reminding us that doing this is pointless
If boycott happens its gonna do nothing
Nice to see a more positive video. Too many doomers in the community if you ask me.

Ths boycott should've been there from the start
What's that hud? I really like it

Where tf is weezy in all of this? i havent heard of him ever since the protest started
@@Lonqudor Interesting, thanks for the info
We should have 3rd party trading sites temporarily shut down to boycott valve
I think that would be a relatively good idea, but I don’t think anyone would agree to it
@@Lonqudor Yeah thats the really tough part. It hurts every party but might have a long term benefit and since the trading sites mainly care about money its very unlikely
That would just funnel the people who want to buy items into the steam community market; it may actually benefit them somewhat, at least in the short term.
@@Pacca64 Oh you are right actually
"we have nothing to lose!"

I really don't think a boycott is going to work (not that I don't support it but I just don't think most people are gonna boycott) so I hope there is a plan after this whole boycotting thing.
why do you think people wouldn't boycott

Meaning Valve couldn't just use tool to get rich and stop.
keep fighting the good fight, #FixTF2
I love tf2 but if nothing changes in the summer update im losing hope
I think it’s only natural to feel that way. But I wouldn’t give out hope so easily.
game has not been worked on in 10 years by valve that doesn't already make you lose hope and realize this stuff is point
No, we cannot hurt Valve's profits, but we can still hurt whatever it is that gives them their profits
Although there are still some bots that would play the game, the lack of real and actual players will damage their *REPUTATION* and Profit making
So I'm asking all of you to temporarily stop playing their games and *ENDURE* for as long as it takes; Come back again when Valve has finally agreed to our *DEMANDS*
Let's all temporarily #AbandonTF2... So we can actually save it
Nice try bot hoster.
The petition has not even been submitted yet, like what the heck.
