@Juan C Salinas That virtual sun is casting a shadow by the sun(the actual one) it's casting a shadow by itself. (Not sure if I fully understand it though)
Just a fun fact: in germany we actually have a solar system scale model running along a river. It shows all 9 planets in an actual size and space scale. If you keep walking along the river, you will encounter the spots where the planets are displayed in realistic size and scale. Earth is like a stick-needles head but the sun is a giant yellow ball on the ground a few kilometers down the river :D
There's one of these along St Kilda beach in Melbourne, Australia too. The Sun is a metre and a bit across with earth ending up the size of a grape, its really cool.
To those wondering how UY Scuti got its name: UY Scuti was discovered in the 1860s and was found to be a variable star (one that changes brightness), so it is subject to variable star designations. So putting it all together, UY Scuti's name literally means "38th known variable star in Scutum."

Many people feel small because they’re small and the universe is big-but you should feel big, because your atoms came from those stars. There’s a level of connectivity. ~ Niel Degrasse Tyson
@kobeno1 except that all humans are practically identical, fairly stupid short-lived creatures who can't even take care of their own planet. There is no hope, only regret.
Great video. I have difficulty imagining the sizes and distances and vast amounts of time of the objects in our universe. The scaled down version here really helps me to visualize exactly how big and far away some objects are.
The problem is that it's impossible to just do a scale comparison beyond what you just did. You now have shown these stars, but they are but a spec of dust compared to a galaxy and a galaxy is a speck of dust compared to the next larger feature, and this keeps going half a dozen steps up. And mass is important. A black hole at an unscaled size of a tennis ball would have many times the mass of planet earth as our earth condensed to a black hole would be barely and inch in diameter.
I don't think a Galaxy is comparable to a star, since a Galaxy is a collection of literally countless stars and objects all together. A lot of comparisons can continue far past whatever parameters they were originally made in anyway, lol.
Before you even get that far I don’t think people realize how big the distances are from planet to planet just like in our solar system Or even how big the space around earth is before you can reach anything else Even if you include the moon like you said it would be a spec of dust on the ruler of the distance to the next planet Now imagine the 3D empty space around that in 360 degrees around the earth And do that all again for the next planet and the next and the next Now that makes this comparison feel impossible again But nope that’s space Don’t even get me started on the space around an atom

As impressive as the scale of astronomical objects are, they're nothing compared to the scale of astronomical distances
Fk man you blew my mind
Astronomical distance?? Why not the edge of the universe?? It's so away that light haven't reached us yet since the universe is born!!! That's more than 13 billion years the age of universe, and that mean the edge is more than 13 billion light years away!!!
@Corby Dorian yeah that's what i mean, it's far away more than the age of universe itself. That's why we don't see it or know what it is, because it's more than 13.5 billion light years away.
I kept it together, until I tried thinking of the huge massive void, between galaxies. Where there is nothing. And THEN, you ponder the "deep field" photograph that Hubble took... all those galaxies, in one picture..... AND THEN, you realize that picture was hubble focused on one tiny point in the sky, for like 12 days... My brain just shut down aga

Another nice quote I find in this video. Nice. Thank you
“Littler” clearly not big enough
my grades get smaller and my hours get bigger
But its still very small
Great video. I have difficulty imagining the sizes and distances and vast amounts of time of the objects in our universe. The scaled down version here really helps me to visualize exactly how big and far away some objects are.
Oi, were you using that new 360 camera HDRI light map technique in this video...? cheeky Wren....

He make all planet to human scale
I don't think a Galaxy is comparable to a star, since a Galaxy is a collection of literally countless stars and objects all together. A lot of comparisons can continue far past whatever parameters they were originally made in anyway, lol.
:3
Before you even get that far I don’t think people realize how big the distances are from planet to planet just like in our solar system
Or even how big the space around earth is before you can reach anything else
Even if you include the moon like you said it would be a spec of dust on the ruler of the distance to the next planet
Now imagine the 3D empty space around that in 360 degrees around the earth
And do that all again for the next planet and the next and the next
Now that makes this comparison feel impossible again
But nope that’s space
Don’t even get me started on the space around an atom
@@myfatassdick what can I google to understand your reference to atoms?
Just brilliant, Wren! I love these. Really looking forward to the next one. 🌌
