The mumbling over the computer nearly had me in tears
Same esp since the only audible words were "christ" and "cost"
Me when my car wouldn't start last week. Turned out to be the fuel pump. Not hard to replace if you got the facilities and an extra pair of hands but I had neither.

I love the dramatic change in the mood of the entire room when the word "computer" is spoken. So perfect.
Because if it's the computer, then you might as well sell the car and get a new one, it would be less headache and much cheaper.
Grandmother bought a car with a computer on board. worst decision of her life besides walking outside in winter without wearing non-slip shoes after rain. Fixes costed an arm and leg 2 times over, thankful the fall only costed her 1 leg. The damn thing would break down from the slightest hiccup and basically make the car useless if it felt like it.
And recognizable. The moment you mention that they go "EEEP!" when really the computer will tell you what's wrong lol
I’m Texas working pest control it’s 110 and I run with with motorized diggers in the truck that run over 120 degrees for hours at a time. AC computer broke was gonna was gonna cost me 2k. Kicker was the didn’t have it in stock and it took me 5 months to get it. It was June.

If you really want a treat go, to the bar after you notice most of the fields in your locality are harvested. You'll hear more than you ever wanted to know about headers, rotors, augers, and air brakes as all the farmers complain about all the equipment that broke over the season.

As a “weekend warrior mechanic“ who works on cars in his spare time, I CAN CONFIRM that the discouraged mumbling over the computer is 100% accurate.
I took my truck to 3 different mechanics for shifting problems/losing power saying, "I think it's the computer."
The 4th actually checked the computer and guess what. It was.
i have heard tell of wizards in the high mountains and the lowest caves, ones that know of capacitors and potted electronics, they who understand the workings of the arcane "ee see yew" box and can repair them. But we know these are only legends now

In a similar vein friend says that his cars cranking but wont start, replaces plugs, cleans injectors change oil and fuel filter, nothing works. I go over we try to crank and immediately realise its the starter missing teeth so its cranking but isn’t turning anything over

If you genuinely want advice on a cheap runner, ask a new car dealer about their back lot trade ins. Dealers will buy ANYTHING from a potential customer if they’re looking for a new car, but they’re not willing to sell a POS because it could hurt their reputation.
Got an absolute steal as my second car an 06 holden viva (similar to a chevy cruz for the Americans) that was some grandma’s old car that i picked for $1500 ($900 USD) car had a fresh service new timing belt, clutch and a full (kinda shitty) detail done inside and out. Later sold the car for $4000

I grew up in a small town in the south, but I swear I’m freaking related to these crazy Canucks! I KNOW these people, right down to the overalls.
The "culture" represented here is pretty similar right through the Midwest and into the south. My rural Ontario farmer in-laws use the same slang and speach habits as farmers in western Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. They could prit'neer be figured as locals throughout half of rural North America.
As a Southerner I can definitely resonate with these dudes.

Just as a tip, a carbureted engine will not turn over unless the gas tank is sealed. Most carbs don't have a fuel pump attached so it relies on its own vacuum, which is only created in a closed circuit. In other news, I overfilled my truck, which still has vacuum lines instead of a fuel pump even though it's injected, and some of the fuel got caught in the vacuum channel. Took about 5 minutes with the cap on for the fuel level to go down.
This is exactly the kind of banter I love Letterkenny for. I'm not a fan of the same wordplay bits that go on for 5 minutes.
A buddy of mine is a car guy, like actually went to college for that. He once sat with his college buddies talking engines, that's about how I felt.

@@yotemtotem1246 Remember, you can go anywhere but they can only sell to who comes through the door. They know you need a car and will use that against you if you let them. You get the best deal once they've reached "That's the best I can do" the third time and you say "thank you for your time" and you get up and walk away. They give you that deal at the door frame one your way out.
P.S. It helps when you're talking to the salesman and you have someone texting another dealer the details. Starts a bidding war.

Of course you get plenty of newer rigs running an ECM which is a computer. (Engine control module.)
