The Hawaiian Legends: No Ke Ano Ahiahi - hdc

The 1st song of the 1st concert featuring the Hawaii Legends : Ledward Kaapana, Dennis Kamakahi & Nathan Aweau -- the 2011 January Tour. This is really the first time these legends played altogether. There were no rehearsals or practice sessions. And after they started playing they were on fire throughout the six concerts on west coast.

Several "Grand Masters" of the genre feeling each other as they play, interweaving melodies and harmonies around and through each other, filling in the gaps and spaces with gorgeous music, sparking off each other and inspiring each other to greater heights-just like the grand old tradition of New Orleans Jazz jam sessions!

Uncle Ledward is my uncle, and this song is about how the queen and king loved each other very much, but their love was forbidden.

This is my favorite version of the beautiful Hawaiian traditional. I love how he always shared history bits of the songs before singing them- adding more meaning and beauty to the music. Really a legend- Dennis Kamakahi- RIP.
