    The best & most helpful video on teaching weave poles I've seen. Others talk & talk & talk. This one shows you how it's done & the showing does the explaining far better than all the mind-numbing talk.

    Love this. There aren't enough videos out there that show progression.

    This is the best tutorial I've seen on weaving. Thank you!

      Khanalee thanks! I have other weave videos on my page. This is just a quick one. But I have a two parter that is more in depth. And lots of fun weave videos. Happy weaving!

    I love that you actually showed progression, how you increased difficulty and how you helped her succeed to keep her reinforcement rate high! Great video!

    The good pup at 4:10 waited for his turn patiently :)

    I needed this training video because since our puppy class and subsequent Beginner's classes, our REMY was terrific on weaves. Thanks to Amber. BUT...then we had an attack at a mini trial in July of 2016 and everything fell apart. WE've been working on just getting our boy back to wanting to do agility and it's come back pretty well. WE are now having weave problems and pulling out of the 2nd hole. With these views I'm going back to the basics and hopefully get him back to the original REMY!

      Ken Kichler oh no. Sorry to hear about Remy. He had awesome weaves! Hope he is happy and fast soon

    Thank you! I was wondering why you use 2 methods in the same time? I see you training single poles in a straight line (adding 1 pole at the time) and a channel every now and then. I was wondering why? I am now using channel method with my Young BC but think you're way is better...

      I just wanted to try it... with my students I just use the 2-3-4 method because it's easier to practice with at home. But I think all methods have their strengths and weaknesses and channels are great to teach footwork and 12 poles

    I’m trying to teach my dog to do this, but I can’t get the same enthusiasm from her as she’s a bit more laid back, so any tips on getting quicker and getting her to go by herself, with a bit more enthusiasm? Great video!!

      What is her motivator? Does she like food, toys, play... can you get her excited beforehand... or is she the type of dog that needs to understand it first and then will be speed...

    I'm training entry using 3 poles at the moment though im training a sheltie, they arent quite as driven as a collie! It's a struggle 😂 she only picks up the entry if im on the right, otherwise she wont find it. Little baffled at the moment as to how i progress her..

      Cal do you have video? Send me the link of message me on Facebook. I will be happy to look at it and see if I can help. It is about trusting and being ok with them making a mistake. Then helping if needed. Find my FB at Amber Abbott.

      I have a collie and I wouldn’t say he’s driven 🤔 I don’t know what he is. Collie’s are very strange dogs 😅 he def has a mind of his own

    How far apart are weave poles meant to be from each other

    • @pokeypig22
      @pokeypig22  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The poles are 24” apart

    See, my dog is IN LOVE with toys and will do anything! But he must be able to see the toy! If he can't see he wont do it. However we have now fast and solid on the V weaves and super sllllllllooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww on the straight weave. I have tried with his weaker side and that is literally step step step. He gets bored after a few times, and loses focus easily. He is a frenchie but I want him to have the energy and concentration of your collie. Any tips?? That would be so great! Can you do a tutorial on how to get your dogs concentration and get him to block everything out but you?? xx

    My husband and I havr just started agility. We have two adult rescue dogs, so not much groundwork, but we are working on those. I was just wondering, I have watched your Part 1 weave and Part 2 weave, and now this one. Which would you recommend we do?

    • @pokeypig22
      @pokeypig22  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tracey Peterson I have done both at the same time if you have access to both styles of weaves. One teaches entries more while the other does the dance more. Most of my students only do the 2-3-4 weave method as they don’t have access to channels.

    Good job . But no1 cause if early arthritis :(

    • @pokeypig22
      @pokeypig22  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't start the weaves until my dogs growth plates are closed and they are "adults"... but there are thousands and thousands of agility dogs and most don't have any unusual arthritis.

    I must be so bad at this. I've spent like a month trying to get her to understand and she still skips poles or enters the wrong way...
    At least she understands she has to do the whole thing at once, but the problem is, she just does it wrong.

    • @pokeypig22
      @pokeypig22  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most dogs take longer than a month. Keep working it. Breaking it down and rewarding it more often. What method are you using?

    • @inkwhiskers9948
      @inkwhiskers9948 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pokeypig22 channel method. I tried the guide-wire method but she jumps it.
