Gyutaro and Ume's backstory was one of the saddest in the series,Ume really accompanied his brother through hell even though she can already go to heaven herself, that bond between siblings will never be broken and no one can beat ,Gyutaro and Ume are like Tanjiro and Nezuko of the past
it seems like all demons in the story have to go to hell to atone for the killing they did as demons. there is no way ume could have gone to heaven. just saying that option didnt exist. gyutaro probably just felt regret and that ume will be better off without him arnd (he was wrong of course).
4:40 “The two us together can't be beat. Being cold or hungry doesn't bother us at all. I promise you, we will always be together. I'm never going to leave you!" -Gyutaro
We can see how blessed Tanjiro is by growing up with a loving family, and even it was a tragedy to see his family murdered by a demon (muzan) and turn Nezuko into a demon, their family bond helps the siblings specially Nezuko to overcome her demon instinct. The Kamado siblings we're pushed to move forward in search of a cure to bring Nezuko back into being a human. On the other hand Gyutaro suffers from the day he got consciousness on what society they lived in, being cast away from the society, and when the day his sister born someone who give him hope for the future, a sister who respect and relied on him as her older brother, fortune and hope run away from him as his sister was killed, contrary to the Kamado siblings it was the humans and society act as a Demon and pushed Gyutaro away to the point of wilfully accepting to be a Demon.
The crescendo when they walk into the flames together is so powerful. All your covers are spot on and recreate the feelings so well. But now I am emotional so maybe you did the job too well
This soundtrack brings tears to my eyes and how the story resonates with mine. I'm the younger sister to my older brother. We bickered a lot when we were younger, we still do (but not as often). Sometimes I just want to say sorry to him for disappointing him a lot, I want to say sorry for making him handle all the burden because I wasn't strong enough to have a share of it. I'm not a perfect younger sister, and he's not the perfect brother either. But I wouldn't trade him for anything or anyone, because to me he's the best brother I could ever have. Thanks for the great work Samuel! This episode is sure is a tearjerker XD
I've never cried so hard in my life, especially cause I have an older brother and it broke my heart seeing this. 😭😭😭 Ume was a brat, but I've been a bratty little sister at times "Argh! You're the worst big brother ever!" "You're such a brat!" "Screw you!" "Shut up!" "I hate you!" When I start to cry my brother feels terrible and starts to apologize, and if I go to far I'll feel terrible and find something to make it up to him. Even though he's 29 and I'm 23 we still bicker like kids at times its the nature of things but deep down we love each other. I was relieved when Tanjiro covered Gyutaro's mouth to stop him from saying anymore hurtful things before it was too late.
4:40 “The two of us together can’t be beat!” “Being cold or hungry doesn’t bother us at all!” “I promise you! “We’re always going to be together!” “I’m never going to leave you!” “See?” “You’re not afraid of anything now are you?” (This scene did not have permission to make me cry so hard)
Amazing work! Being a big brother myself, and having a little sister, their story hit me really hard.. @ 4:40 I was full on crying. Whether as humans, demons, or even in death, their love for each other is truly beautiful.
Ehm, no. Just, no. This ost is sad and beautiful indeed, but after some days, you always can remember sadder pasts in other animes. One Piece and Naruto has at least two or three sadder pasts depending on how they hit to you.
The story of demon slayer is so simple yet so power,it can you make you go from hating a demon to actually feeling sympathy for them soon as you see their backstorys
It's the fact that ume was supposed to go to heaven because it wasn't her choice to become a demon. Gyutaro blame himself that it's his fault that Ume had a twisted end and would've had a happy ending if she didn't do what she did (In the data book she stabbed the man eye out for insulting her brother. She thought it was okay because she grew up and been taught by Gyutaro, despite not being that smart). He accepted his sins as he chose to become a demon (Since he had no choice) and want to give ume a better life to go to heaven, but she refused to leave his side as she goes to hell with him. The way she reminded him the promise he made to her was just so sad. She wants to always be his little sister even if they're reborn or stay eternity in hell. That just goes to show their bond is just as powerful as Tanjiro and Nezuko. I didn't expect myself to cry considering I read the manga, but it was the music in the background for me that got me emotional! What an incredible backstory 💯
I honestly like to think they won’t spend an eternity in hell. The world made them the way they are. So I hope they only spend some time there, at least long enough for them go meet Muzan and the other Upper Moons. They’d have words with Muzan, Douma, and the people that tormented the siblings.
@@gregorylumban-gaol3889 There's no such things as eternity in hell in the budhist tradition. Only cycles of reincarnations more or less favorable separated by times of expiations in various degree of cruel places, until a soul has cleansed itself of all his illlusions and flaws, and access Nirvana.
@@benjaminthibieroz4155 So it’s a blend of Shinto and Buddhism. Brings me relief because people keep bringing up “eternal hell”. Even the Abrahamic God will not punish the sinners with eternal hell but people have this misconception that there is one.
Gyutaro and Daki's pasts were incredibly similar to Shigaraki's. Both sides encountered their darkest moments, and instead of someone to guide them on the proper paths, they met the villains of the stories and ended up turning into villains themselves.
Daki: "The fact that I hate ugly people and ugly things but I love my brother who's not that good looking has nothing to do with each other." Gyutaro: "The fact that I hate pretty people and pretty things but I love my sister who's arguably the most beautiful woman in the entire series, has nothing to do with each other." (Me: trying desperately to bring some brevity to this tearfest)
Their story was easily the biggest punch in the gut I have ever experienced in any media. Many times I got teary-eyed or kinda cried, but the scene where they both walk towards Hell is the only time I started fucking *sobbing.*
When both of them continue to the path to darkness, that scene really hits me, and ume doesn't really care what path she choose as long as she will be with his brother, forever.

For example I have watched the scene of rengoku's death and his last words multiple times but till now I cry when I watch it.. Gyutaro and ume's story was so tragic R.I.P😭😭🥺🥺
The fact Ume decided to hop behind Gyutaro accompanying him across hell instead of going to heaven is enough to make every man cries. Salute of Gotouge-Sama !
Another sad and touching story behind the shape of a demon. They all were once suffered the most, they had no choice in life, no support, until bitterness eats them to their very soul. No one wants to be treated bad, no one wants to be born with suffering. I am amazed how Demon Slayer has a lot of moral stories behind the characters. I cried a to watch this scene. Just to think of it, being kind is very important than being right.
Demon slayer has to be one of the best anime out there. From the amazing story, the emotional back stories to the breathtaking soundtrack. I don't know about y'all but this is on my top 10 list for sure.
"Everybody's top10 list" saying this seems to be an exaggeration as ds isn't even on my like top30 or 40, idk why but now a bunch of ds fanboys will come and say that my taste is shit xD, i mean, just read the manga, you will get degraded character designs and a typical shounen story, but, ufotable made it achieve new heights with their spectacular animations, but idk if I will keep an anime on my top10 if it only has good animation (the osts aren't that great, some are banger but there are very less of them, the osts also feel repititive or overused at some points)

I have a younger sister who I’ve always praised to all of my friends and family members. I’ve seen her as the golden egg of our family, and I believe that she is the only one that can truly show the world how much of an impact our family can leave. Sure, me and her can have very different interests and we can get on each other’s nerves quite a lot, but I still love my sister and made it my duty to watch over her until she heads into college. I know she’s destined for greatness, and I wanna make sure that nothing will prevent it from happening. So I will protect her the best as I can, like how an older brother should be.
2:33 This ending song is freaking awesome one of the greatest song in anime world when this song plays it makes me emotional when in ending the place was blown off than this song starts literally man i can't forget this this literally gave me goosebumps and now also whenever I heard this song this gives me chills and i start to remember all the fights from entertainment district arc... For me this is one of my favourite song in anime history 😍😍
Even though Gyutaro and Daki were terrible people in the end, I still feel awful for how both of their lives turned out. Gyutaro was abused and made fun of for having an abominable appearance and seen as a nuisance to almost everyone and his sister was burned to death. Daki was beautiful but was however was also abused and used as a toy. It was enough she stabbed the eye out of one of the people who did so. She was then burnt alive at the age of 13. Then they were recruited to become a menace to society by a cold-hearted demon who was Upper 6 back then who is now Upper 2. They deserved better!!!
That's one of the things I love about KnY, despite the demons being unremorseful villians, you see right at the end that in a way they too were victims. It fits well with Tanjiro's compassion being his main motivation.

@@Defender888888 damnn i missed that part lol ,my bad
@@Defender888888 well ume didnt really choose to become a demon, gyutaro chose for her. so i think she can go to heaven.
@@zainab_hashmiii if u read manga, akaza also didnt choose to become demon. still went to hell.
4:40
“The two us together can't be beat.
Being cold or hungry doesn't bother us at all. I promise you, we will always be together. I'm never going to leave you!"
-Gyutaro
1:29 this part really gives me goosebumps. It's like living through a tragic legend that had long been forgotten with time.
That's my favorite part two
We can see how blessed Tanjiro is by growing up with a loving family, and even it was a tragedy to see his family murdered by a demon (muzan) and turn Nezuko into a demon, their family bond helps the siblings specially Nezuko to overcome her demon instinct.
"Remember doing something for loved one is never wrong unless it causes pain to others"
Their backstory made me cry when I read it and it made me cry when I watched it. I will never get over how beautifully tragic Demon Slayer is.
I've never cried so hard in my life, especially cause I have an older brother and it broke my heart seeing this. 😭😭😭
Ume was a brat, but I've been a bratty little sister at times "Argh!
2:33 makes me cry i have never heard anything so beautiful
4:40
“The two of us together can’t be beat!”
“Being cold or hungry doesn’t bother us at all!”
“I promise you!
“We’re always going to be together!”
“I’m never going to leave you!”
“See?”
“You’re not afraid of anything now are you?”
(This scene did not have permission to make me cry so hard)
Amazing work! Being a big brother myself, and having a little sister, their story hit me really hard.. @ 4:40 I was full on crying. Whether as humans, demons, or even in death, their love for each other is truly beautiful.
The last one was truly EMOTIONAL DAMAGE. That tune has strong power to make anyone cry.
i think Gyutaro has the most saddest story of any anime combined 💔
Ehm, no.
Ume could have walked the path of light, but she chose the darkness just to be with her brother. 😢
And she was her brother's heart
I mean it shows how much she valued her brother. You rarely find that in real life and if you do, keep them in your life.
Demon Slayer really has a way of making you feel sympathetic for the characters you hate the most…well, except Muzan
Muzan is the true demon, you don't have to feel sympathetic for him
@@Homelander_John Even Muzan had his demon
There's also Douma, but that's for the future seasons.
Only Rui, Daki/Gyuutaro, and Akaza have redeeming backstories lmao. The rest are just generic villains who nobody feels sympathy for.
@@mightykaz7686 Don't forget Kyogai.
For me, it’s because Daki’s va did such good job voicing her
I honestly like to think they won’t spend an eternity in hell. The world made them the way they are. So I hope they only spend some time there, at least long enough for them go meet Muzan and the other Upper Moons. They’d have words with Muzan, Douma, and the people that tormented the siblings.
This made me cry with the music on background 😭
@@gregorylumban-gaol3889 There's no such things as eternity in hell in the budhist tradition. Only cycles of reincarnations more or less favorable separated by times of expiations in various degree of cruel places, until a soul has cleansed itself of all his illlusions and flaws, and access Nirvana.
@@benjaminthibieroz4155 So it’s a blend of Shinto and Buddhism. Brings me relief because people keep bringing up “eternal hell”.
Even the Abrahamic God will not punish the sinners with eternal hell but people have this misconception that there is one.
Someone said thay Ume was also crying because she was scared of fire and the fact that she still chose to go with him HURTS
Oh my! yes you are right, they have unbreakable bond after all, like Tanjiro and Nezuko
I still can't believe they continue to produce such beautiful soundtracks
Daki and Gyutaro may have done terrible deeds. But I held no hatred for them. They were tragic beings. And for that, I wish for them to be in peace.
Gyutaro and Daki's pasts were incredibly similar to Shigaraki's. Both sides encountered their darkest moments, and instead of someone to guide them on the proper paths, they met the villains of the stories and ended up turning into villains themselves.
I like how the music goes from sad to hopeful and happy, and then switches again to tragedy.
Daki: "The fact that I hate ugly people and ugly things but I love my brother who's not that good looking has nothing to do with each other."
Gyutaro: "The fact that I hate pretty people and pretty things but I love my sister who's arguably the most beautiful woman in the entire series, has nothing to do with each other."
(Me: trying desperately to bring some brevity to this tearfest)
Their story was easily the biggest punch in the gut I have ever experienced in any media.
Many times I got teary-eyed or kinda cried, but the scene where they both walk towards Hell is the only time I started fucking *sobbing.*
Samuel Kim always remember when making music to set your heart ablaze and go beyond your limits to make the best music you can as you always have done
When both of them continue to the path to darkness, that scene really hits me, and ume doesn't really care what path she choose as long as she will be with his brother, forever.
Ambience the feeling all those rollercoasters that emerged from your music is exactly the same i feel as a fan and we can feel how you felt and you just make these beautiful pieces its hard to explain but your covers are the best samuel. Its healing all fans that goes through emotional heartbreaks. Thankyou samuel. Thankyou for being a fan and giving us theropy pills. ❤️❤️
masterwork well done
That 4:38 scene will forever make me weep
F*ck idk why but that made me b*tch cry all of a sudden.
That Scene is Too Cute and emotional...
Gyutaroo and daki's past is one of the saddest story' ever. And when daki got Burnt alive, gyutaro said, "you all didnt give anything to me but rather taking something away from me"
I must thank you Samuel Kim. I’d heard of this show, but never actually watched it. After hearing so many of your renditions of Demon Slayer themes though, I decided to give it a shot. Sure enough I finished bingeing it in two days and am now waiting for season 3. Thank you so much for your music that inspired me to watch this brilliant and beautiful show!
Gyutaro before: This world is a cruel and unjust place...
Gyutaro after: Ume you are my pride and joy
Reminds me on Mikasa
The regret of a brother and the loyalty of a sister
This song causes tears to always run down my face at such empathy that it produces.
Indeed it was so painful to watch the last episode... I could not stop my tears..
Demon slayer emotional scenes really hit different... For example I have watched the scene of rengoku's death and his last words multiple times but till now I cry when I watch it.. Gyutaro and ume's story was so tragic
R.I.P😭😭🥺🥺
Everybody talking how Akaza's backstory will make you cry rivers, but no one's talking about the most gut wrenching backstory, Yoriichi's...
Just the first notes and Im getting chills! 😭😭😭 Bravooooo!!
The feels hits so hard from this OST and the pictures you have chosen 😢 Makes me more motivated to help people who needs the help
I'll never be over there backstory and the last ep well done man
Dakis theme sounds so good. Like a middle eastern theme. Wish I could hear more like these.
Yuki Kajiura made a similar one for vanitas no karte ost, it's called "a snake in the grass".
Omg when it transitions omggg it’s so amazing 3:52 is my favorite part
This was so beautiful! That last episode was really heartbreaking!
Wow this is straight up heart wrenching...
the best demon story so far IMO
This is a wonderful track, you've really outdone yourself man. you can really hear the passion
Thank you very much for creating these wonderful melodies, bringing impressive experiences
Emotional Damage Indeed! I couldn't hold my tears in that moment. 😭
I cried bc of the music for the backstory, so I’m so excited for this. Ready to sob again…. T-T
What can I say. I used to cry even while reading this chapter, This music did take it to the new level
1:32 oh I like that! It's kinda got a middle Eastern thing going
Ep 10 ending song really gives kingdom hearts "dearly beloved" vibes and I love it
I think this is one of the best ingredient combinations ever made. Thank you
Demon slayer has to be one of the best anime out there.
@@callmeweeb4350 i agree with you but if you start thinking everything from that prospective then you won't enjoy it fully. After all it's anyone's opinion if they like it or not I just think that no matter if you like it or not you can't disagree that the back stories and the music is phenomenal.
I personally believe that every series is beautiful in it's own way but people always want to compare things
@@callmeweeb4350 I agree 100% even ds would be in my top ten tbf
@@johnalvertis1419 exactly, its everyone's opinion and thus saying that top10 on everybody's list is definitely an exaggeration as its not that good of a show for some people, including me
I have a younger sister who I’ve always praised to all of my friends and family members.
3:20 hit me harder than I expected :')
4:38
Thank you for making this seriously it’s the best. I thought everyone died the way they ended this episode 10 😭
Why are you so good at this..? Bro chill
I’m not crying, you are!
T_T
My heart 😭
Chill bumps and tears. I bawled during this scene in Demon Slayer.
Their backstory just made me feel tragic tremendously🥺😢😭
That's one of the things I love about KnY, despite the demons being unremorseful villians, you see right at the end that in a way they too were victims. It fits well with Tanjiro's compassion being his main motivation.
thank you Samuel, the ending made me cry 😭😭
Their story was so sad i actually started crying :'c
This song is beautiful. You're working hard. Thanks you for your all Demon Slayer Cover. I listening your song every day and your music is my power. I always support you and take care yourshelf. Love you Samuel Kim 🥰🥰🥰
Why Am I crying non stop... the music pierced my heart and soul.. it's so beautiful and tragic in its own way
Their backstory is so so sad, 2 of my favorite characters from the series! They were a season Season 2 was incredible and the Entertainment District Arc is one of my favorites from the whole manga!
This is literally the cover I was waiting for from Season 2 - as soon as I heard the themes in the episode, I thought they were beautiful! Well, beautiful and tragic all at the same time! Lovely cover! 💗
