    😂 Take it from someone whose been making her own butter for a few years: It’s easier than most people think. But I do have a few tips to make it easier (and safer).
    1: use a plastic jar with a screw on lid- less spillage and less likely to break if dropped.
    2: only use about 1/4 cup at a time: it makes it easier to shake and takes less time.
    3: use room temperature heavy whipping cream-makes it go faster
    4: it may take a little longer than a minute depending on if you followed the previous tips- first it will turn into whipped cream, which is when it feels like nothing is sloshing around anymore-keep shaking! Finally, it will separate into buttermilk and butter and you will feel when they separate. Drain off the buttermilk and save for buttermilk pancakes
    :) Enjoy

    I make butter all the time, and my technique is less messy and seriously takes less than 15 minutes (yeah, I was surprised the first time I made it! I didn't even have time for my arms to get tired!). Get a carton of heavy whipping cream. Do NOT open it!!! Just start shaking. When it stops sloshing, you have whipped cream. You can stop here if you want; scoop it out and use it. OR... keep shaking. When you start to hear liquid again, you have butter. The buttermilk will look thin, like whey (if you've made cheese, you know). I use it as part of the liquid in the bread or biscuits that I'm now gonna make to go w/ my butter and God would approve. Ma Ingalls would now take the butter and rinse it in cold water; apparently, it lasts longer if you get all the buttermilk out, but I've never bothered; I transfer it to a container with an actual lid and just keep pouring off the liquid as I go. Now add salt and work it through (a wooden spoon or silicon scraper work great here) because salt really does improve the flavor and helps destroy some of the bacteria that may be in it so it does last longer but that's a whole other science lecture and you'll be storing it in the fridge anyway so you'll be fine. If you want, this is the time to add the chives and garlic powder OR honey and cinnamon OR whatever your happy little tummy is feeling. Now smear it on something and eat. Post it on Insta. Serve it to your family and mop your sweating brow to garner sympathy for all the effort you put toward making said family happy with homemade butter because they're so worth it. Bask in your success.

      So how do you make light butter this way? Promise used to make fat free butter that was only 5 calories per tablespoon instead of 100 that tasted so good, but they stopped making it because America just couldn’t resist getting fatter and fatter on full fat butter. Would appreciate if you can come up with how to do that at home please.

    • @JessVach
      @JessVach 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried your method… it’s still cream and I’ve been shaking for 15 minutes. I thought it was as solid, but I tried to pour out the buttermilk and it’s still just heavy cream :(

    • @LiveTUNA
      @LiveTUNA 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RLucas3000you don't! You don't eat that crap because it's based on veritable oils which are absolutely horrible for your body and heart. You make it exactly the way it was made for thousands of years because that doesn't cause heart disease and give you cancer. There was literally no such thing as heart disease until we invented all of these "fake butter" products with vegetable oils. Look that up if you don't believe me. This is why you see so many elderly folks living well into their late 90's while so many "healthy conscience" 40-60 year olds are dying from heart disease. The older folks are still using actual butter and lard not "diet or fat free butter" while the younger generations grew up on processed food packed with vegetable oils.

    Tips:
    -Use a mason jar
    -Using an agitator like a plastic bead the side of a nickel helps
    -add your additives after you’ve made the butter
    -you’re supposed to shake it until it turns into a more firm ball and has a lot of milk left around it, so it will get solid and not sound like you’re shaking anything and then it will go back to a big solid, but with milk still around it and that is buttermilk and you pour it off into another dish to use or get rid of it.
    -It’s amazing with salt only on fresh homemade bread!

    Corey learns that heavy cream is the base for whipping cream and when whipped, beaten, or in this case shaken, heavy cream becomes thick and stiffens. Even to the consistency of soft butter.

    You have to shake it for like an hour. Then strain it through cheesecloth. That's known as whey. As you shake it, it feels like it's clumping. Also, add your flavorings after the butter's ready or you can be confused...thinking whipped cream is butter. (We always were told to start with the cold paper carton heavy cream, DON'T OPEN IT, just start shaking, pass to another kid when their arms get tired...I think that's why it took forever to get the thick, clumped butter.)

      You can just toss it in the Kitchen aid and in about 5 minutes boom butter. Seriously the butter sticks to the paddle so there's no draining but you should wash the butter with heavily salted water before final draining and forming

    Also, good to remember that when you get buttermilk (the clear liquid) it spoils before the butter (the fatty part) so it's important to take that out if you want it to keep longer. Cheesecloth and ice water can help you with that. Keep it cold in an ice bath and squeeze out the buttermilk

    Corey, use your stand mixer with the whipping attachment. Place on medium until the butter separates from the liquid. Pour off the liquid and you have butter!

    I spent many hours at the butter churn in my grandmother's kitchen . I've been making butter for about 60 years now.

    That is whipped cream 😆, the butter stage comes after that. You have to remove the buttermilk. Add the flavorings after. You could even use your blender or food processor.

    I love your videos! You’re awesome and it’s always nice to see your fiancé join you. I wanted to talk about the butter. You don’t have to shake it hard and fast. Tip it gently but firmly. It will take about the same amount of time.
