UPDATE: Don't bother using the bushing in this video. It DOES NOT work. The first time it rained and used the wipers is came apart again. I am making a follow up video for a better fix.
Thanks for posting instructions on how to do this. I ended up replacing the entire assembly and keeping the original motor. Cost me $130 for the new assembly and just over two hours time. Much better than an all day trip to the repair shop.
two hours? it takes about 10 minutes... I ended up replacing the whole thing too. Chevy needs to recall these things, it failed on my wife during a snow storm and caused a dangerous situation.
Thank you very much. This is very informative. I ran into this problem at 10:30 at night during a downpour and no parts stores were open. I like that you show the whole process, even taking off the outer shrouds.
I recently replaced mine. Got a good deal from Partsgeek. Wife found it for me and it came with a 2 year warranty. I tried finding Bushings but no luck. Bushings for this model car seems impossible to find. There is a drop down menu that tells what Model, Make and Year they will fit. That said, this video helped me see how to disassemble. Took me a bit over 1 hr as I am a rookie and took my time. Garages wanted 350 dollars. I spent around 100 for replacement assembly and a kit that has Clip removal tool and spare clips. This really is an easy job to do, thanks for the video.
I actually had an issue with the motor where the bolt on the underside of the motor wouldn’t stay tight no matter what we did, but your video taught me how to access the parts I needed! Thank you from a first time lady mechanic 👩🔧 lmfao!!!
Thanks for the video! I almost looked like a pro when I replaced the bushing on my Equinox. My replacement lasted a few months at least. I ordered a metal windshield wiper linkage clip that I hope lasts longer. Hoping to install it tonight.
I'm glad the video helped. I did an update video to this one showing I ended up having to fix mine with replacing the entire thing as well. Bushing replacement didn't last long. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I drilled a small hole through the side of both the bushing and the ball it sits on.....the arm will not pop off anymore. All it cost me was pennies for a cotter pin.
Bought a new transmission and it came apart an hour later took it back and did the cotter pin technique . Worked awesome and saved me 100 bucks. Thx for the tip
Thank you very much for sharing! Yes, I can hear the motor working normally and I can move the wipers by hand with some small resistance. The solution you present will most likely work. I'll probably reconnect and see how it goes. Thanks again! Yes Quincy Stallworth. I suspect it would cost $300.
Anybody with an Equinox that has this problem needs to file a complaint with the NTHSA. So far, only the 2013 Equinox has the recall with the exact same wiper transmission. Canada has a recall for all the Equinoxs with this problem. Not here in the United States. If enough people complain to the NTHSA about this problem, they will inform Chevy to recall all of these.
I just reported mine hopefully it helps and they do something about this my windshield wipers is doing the exact same thing as described in the video it my gave out while it was raining on a busy Street THANK GOD I DIDN'T CRASH.
Ended up drilling and pinning the pivot points and it's been 2 years now with no issues yet. I couldn't see spending $120 on a new wiper transmission when the same thing will happen in a year.
@Upper Peninsula. Thank you for posting this video. We ended up going with Dorman 49452 wiper linkage bushings. The package says GM/Nissan. We got a package of 5 from Autozone for $8.99. So far so good.
I hope this fix works better for you than it did for me. I posted an update video to this one, I ended up having to replace the whole assembly. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for the great video and update. I saved a bunch of money fixing my wife’s rig with the help of your video and our local junkyard. Silly me thought the equinox could handle a little ice. Guess I was wrong.
I used that 49449 bushing on my 2011 gmc Terrain. Seems good. Snapped on the ball so hopefully it's good to go. Crazy hard getting the bushing into the linkage arm. Must follow his technique. Good luck.
There is an update video in the description. This fix worked but not for very long. Hopefully you have better luck. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Awesome, great job! I'm glad the video helped out. I did make a follow up video to this one explaining that the bushing fix didn't last very long for me. I ended having to replace the entire transmission assembly. Hopefully yours holds together better than mine. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this video it really help you can’t get the bushings they don’t make them for at least the 2012 I did get the full linkage from advanced auto and use one of their 30% off coupons the other thing when I replaced it the blades wanted to go backwards a little bit so it may take a little bit of work figuring out where the linkage needs to sit the best thing we did was turn the accessory on turn the wiper solvent and then turn the power off and that stopped it where it needed to be we did a 180 after we detach the linkage and then it worked thanks again for your help
I'm glad the video helped you out! I have a follow up video explaining that I also had to end up replacing the entire linkage assembly. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I think you did the bushing backwards and the reason why it was so hard. The BACK (the head) of the bushing has to be pushed through the hole of the arm using the vise. So vise then bushing opening, then arm hole, and 19mm socket to push it through. Snaps right in
I just got this problem my windshield wipers look exactly like that off the window. And I can hear the motor still going. Thank you for the info I’m gonna take it all apart and see if it’s the same problem
I'm glad the video helped you out. I do have a follow up video as well explaining the fix I did in this video didn't last long. Check out the other video as well. Thanks and good luck!
Great job but that big loud noise is a bad sign of more bushings to blow. You said it was cheap flaw well now you still have to worry about the other cheap flaws, but I am torn between 4$ and quite some work or buying the full transmission for 100$ ugh
I'm glad the video helped! Be aware I have an update video in the description that explains the bushing fix didn't work for very long. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video! Just what I needed because my wife's lovely Equinox's wipers stopped two days ago. Thanks for all of the detail, including the bushings part number!
Thanks for the awesome video! Dealer wanted $350 for the repair on my 2012 Equinox. Only the 2013 is under GM recall currently. I bought the entire ACDelco 84241847 GM Original Equipment Windshield Wiper System Module that included the motor for $67 from Amazon. Original GM part and exact fit, just plug and play no messing around with the press fit connections. Did have a bit of trouble removing the wiper arms but should have had them lifted up to relieve the spring tension when pulling off. Otherwise no issues, just needed to run the wipers to set up the correct wiper position before locking down.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Crazy how GM has not recalled all years of this type of assembly. Good find on the Amazon part, I think someone else mentioned that in the comments before. I'm glad the video helped you out some and you were able to fix it yourself, good work!
I repaired my wipers but they don't stop in the correct position. How do I fix that, much of the info online says the stop plate is bent. However I never saw a stop plate so?
thanks for let us know I was ready to do it just like that I hope I get to watch your next video if you got a different idea thanks for taking all your time skills to sharing it with us
I do have another video: th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html This fix didn't end up working for me. I ended up having to replace the entire assembly.
What position should the wipers be placed in when putting back together, been trying for an hour and can't get them back to the right resting place when shut off
hey youve helped me out a couple times with iusses which is super appricated! did you ever have an issue with the back camera system that is built into the rearview mirrior, if so what did you do or suggest? thanks Adam from caseville!
Hi Adam, thank you for your kind words. Our Equinox didn't have a back up camera on it but I have seen other videos of people having issues with the wiring in the back tailgate leading to the camera. Maybe that could be a place to start looking. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The wipers went out while my pregnant wife was driving in a torrential downpour and I was out of town...now I will see if I can fix it, otherwise I have to take it to the shop tomorrow to have it worked on as we cannot go with only one vehicle. To hell with the dealerships, I will not bring it there for any reason other than recalls (which this should be covered by, but isn't because they say it isn't a safety issue).
+J Rap Sorry to hear this has happened to you also and at the most inconvenient time. I hear ya, GM should be doing something about it because it sure as hell is a safety issue. Don't follow my advice in this video though. I'm working on an update video to this one because the bushing fix didn't work. Go to your dealer and buy the transmission assembly. My dealer said it costs about $150 bucks. Then you can swap it out yourself. That's the only good fix in my opinion. Good luck buddy! Also, congrats on the new baby!
Upper Peninsula DIY thanks, I already got the bushings from autozone, hopefully it will be a temp fix...for at least a few weeks or so. The auto industry is a sham. I'm sure there is some other way to fix it, I'm just not mechanically inclined as most, haha.
Upper Peninsula DIY So I installed it...and 10 minutes later is came off. I really don't want to buy the entire set when I only need a plastic bushing. If this wasn't the car my wife drives when I am not driving it, I would wait for a better alternative...if there is one.
+J Rap Bummer... mine did more or less the same thing. Thought I had it fixed and sure enough the first rain storm it came apart again. In my opinion replacing all the bushings won't work because most of the bushings are made by dormin and they don't work. Even if you get a used transmission assembly from a junk yard your probably asking for the same problem. Just have to bit the bullet and get the assembly from your gm dealer. My wife is getting by with it for now by only turning on the wipers when the windshield is wet. I switched the arm around on the assembly so the bad bushing is on the upper side of the transmission and not the lower hooked to the motor. I'm not sure which is bad on yours though. Hopefully this helps you out a little. Thanks for coming back and sharing what you found.
Maybe I will do that too. Mine broke in exactly the same spot as yours. I had to special order the entire assembly from Chevy/GM...$115. Also, I called GM to file a complaint and gave them my vin number and had them send me an electronic receipt. If there is ever a recall (there is for other years, but not the 2011 for sure), they will refund me. EVERYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO CALL GM AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEIR VIN NUMBER SO THEY WILL MAKE IT A RECALL ITEM!!
Don't waste your time or money on the bushing. I have an update to this video: th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html. Also, check with your GM dealer. I have heard that they expanded the years that these are now covered under a recall. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I guess I should have read your update. But I have not had a chance to test my wipers since I purchased the bushings and installed it. So maybe you might be able to help me out or the community might be able to help me. I took the motor of the transmission mount and unscrewed the nut holding the transmission. If i do not put this back on correctly will I have wiper alignment issues? Right now when I run my wipers the wipers go up to the top position and pause just short of the full range, then they go back down, and dip below where they rest, then come up slightly and stop. When I have both wipers on the linkage will come undone again. So with both wipers on now and they go to the start position, the driver wiper will impact into the passenger causing the linkage to pop out of place. I think I should have never taking the transmission nut off. Hey UP DIYer do you have any more equinox fix videos. I too bought one of these cars and I really love it but I want to get things fixed with it. BTW its from the lower Peninsula
Thanks for stopping by John! Sounds like you might have to realign the transmission. I haven't had to do that yet so I won't be much good for advice but maybe someone in the community will have had to do that before and answer your question. I do have one other video so far on the Equinox. A fix for the blend door actuator on the HVAC system. th-cam.com/video/l5Qy-NHLFA8/w-d-xo.html
I changed the transmission arm yesterday but kept the original motor but now the wipers go down for a second then wipe up fully but rest higher than before. Do you know why it does that?
Well done , I'm always leery about dorman products . Their big wipers and I imagine if one were to try and push a lot of snow off the glass or stuck with ice they would pop out. Are they ok now.
I couldn't seem to find another company that made the bushings but I'm sure there is I just didn't find it. So far, knock on wood, it is holding up. Thanks for watching Steve!
Its not going to help you any but my wife got a letter from Chevy about a month ago saying that the windshield linkage on her 2016 Equinox could separate. If it does she can take it to a dealer and get it fixed for free until 150,000 mi or 2026.
You are exactly right Mike. It did the same exact thing to me also. I am working on making a follow up video to this one for a better fix. Sorry for the bad information.
Upper Peninsula DIY what is crazy about this very common issue is that GM makes you buy the whole entire transmission. They do not sell the bushings. A 5 minute fix and couple dollar part for over 100 dollars.
I found that out as well. Went to my local GM dealer and the only way to get it is the entire assembly with even a new wiper motor. You can imagine the price tag on that... I can get one from Napa but it is made by Dorman, which I'm finding they don't make that great of products. Plus the Napa one is almost the same price as the one from GM.
Check with your dealer, I have heard that the recall on these has extended to cover more years now. If not it's worth the money to buy the entire assembly. I have an update video to this one because the bushing fix did not work. Thanks for watching! Good luck!
When i was a youngster in da hood..we met an old crackhead...he was drinking a BUSCH...he asked.."Do you know what BUSCH stands for?" We replied, "no". He said, "It stands for Bitch U Shouldn't Have Come Home!!!" ....it was better if you were there...also equinoxes are a pain in the ass..thanx for the video amigo
@@UpperPeninsulaDIY hey man thank you for the step by step brother. Love from htown;)...ive gone through 2 transmission bars in 2 months :( do u have a hack to keep the arm bars together better? I was thinking of drilling allbthe way through and putting a screw and bolt or self tapping screw through...what do u think?
I didn't have much luck keeping the bars together with just bushing replacements. Here is a video I did as a follow up video: th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html My fix was just replacing the entire assembly. I was gonna do exactly what you said though, drill a hole through the center and put a bolt and lock nut in it. That would be the cheapest fix.
So, here's the deal with these little bastards. At the factory, they got some machine that fits those bushings into the hole of the linkage bracket. Putting them in by hand, even with a vice and sockets is damn near impossible. The plastic tabs always push backwards instead of squeezing to fit into the hole. Once that happens, the bushing is ruined. I went through 4 of these before I found a solution. Take a dremmel tool and just lightly bevel out the edges of the hole on the bracket. Bevel the one side only where you are inserting the bushing. That bevel will allow the plastic tabs to easily squeeze through instead of getting stuck and pushing backwards. Once the bushing is in, you need to gently squeeze the tabs tight with a pair of plyers. Otherwise, it won't stay on the ball attached to the motor. It will just easily pop off. DO NOT USE GREASE OR ANY OTHER LUBRICANT EITHER! That just makes it easier to pop off. I actually wiped off all the old grease that was on it to ensure a snug fit, but there's still a thin layer to keep it moving smoothly. I hope this helps. Once again, GM has amazed us with it's poor design issues and given me yet another reason not to buy them. Good luck!
Well...I thought I was about to save $150. That is what AutoZone wants for the transmission. They have the bushing you used for $5.00, but if it's not going to work, I'll just replace the whole thing...bummer
Don't bother ordering the bushing. Replacing the bushing only lasted about a day for me. I made a follow up video to this one. th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html
I think I actually used a little bit of wheel bearing grease but you can use really anything. I'm sure there is a specific grease you should use, I just don't know what it would be. Remember I'm not an expert, just a DIYer.
To all who have spent money on this fix, you can be reimbursed. GM has a special coverage adjustment for the wiper transmission static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10171252-9999.pdf for vehicles 2010 - 2012 and 2014 - 2017 for Equinox and Terrain
Hi all New recall on wiper failure goes back to 2010. Check it out. If you got it repaired you maybe eligible for a refund. If you fixed yourself, depending on your mileage and time owned you may be eligible for a free replacement
My driver side failed in a rain storm (figures) and turns out my 2013 GMC Terrain (sister to Equinox) was part of the recall, Columbus, OH. Now if I can just see my way to the dealer in this deluge. I knew I should have acted on this before now!
It's not a very good design. GM has recalled some of them so check with your dealer. Yours may be with in the recall, otherwise I found it best just to replace the entire assembly. I have another video on it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for stopping by Albert! From what I experienced and it seems others have too, I ended up just buying the whole assembly. You can get an assembly used at a junk yard but there's a chance you'll end up with the same issue. Depending on your year though there may be a recall. Just have to give the dealer your vin number. If you do happen to find bushings that work please stop back and let us know.
I you have this issue, the 2013s were recalled. The NHTSA is looking into this problem. If you have this issue, please file a complaint to force GM to recall. www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/
Holy shit !! Wished I'd cleaned off the ice and snow before hand. Fuck me !!! Thanks for the info ! wish I had a garage to do the work. Now I have to pay someone. Thanks !!
Well, all I can say is that if it were metal parts with nuts and bolts this would never happen. Ya the bushings didn't work for me either. Was just gonna buy new from ebay, gmc dealer wants $145.00 $150.00 for new linkage, what an incredible waste of money but I gotta say the 2010 chevy equinox LTZ I have has been one fix after another. Pistons and rings air conditioner back up camera in mirror rear hatch door motor headlight socket wires falling out. Id take my 2000 gmc Jimmy over this any day and it had way more perks and accessories. Chevy sucks!
This is definitely a terrible design. We had many other problems with the Equinox than just the wipers also. We ended up getting a Traverse which has been a much better vehicle. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Dorman has changed the part!!! Same part number, but it is now 2 half shells that fit over the "knob" and bolt together. I found them at O'Rileys autoparts.... www.oreillyauto.com/detail/dorman-help--4422/wiper-blade-motor-16494/linkage-kits-17610/wiper-linkage-clip-kit/49444/4528521/2010/chevrolet/equinox
dont remove the old bushing..you need it as a spacer in the throat of the rod. use a hacksaw and cut off the top portion (the cap). Press the knob onto the rod and use this part to secure the "knob". Make sure you git the little tab down into the bushing to help the fit. I used a pair of vise-grips to hold the 2 shells together while I bolted them up.....Good Luck!
I just ordered mine as well as the old ill-fitting plastic bushing since i will need it as a spacer. Is there any way that you could snap a pic of how it should look with the half shells? If not, I am sure that I can figure it out. Thx
Oh yeah and every damn gm sad we bailed them out now they build crap! Mine is a '11 the other day the nut that connects the motor and transmission fell off yes I said fell 📴! 14' weather and sleet hail not the best scenario. Be sure to time it before you put it all together or you might have to buy a on/off relay.... don't ask me how I know🙄. It's apparently been a problem before because there was only 2 clips in front holding the cowl on. I used a 90' long nose pliers to assist with removing the arms. ( One could use a nail Bar as well). Note to others mine didn't have markings because the curved one goes on the passenger side. Other than that it's the same. Update: thought I had it fixed didn't see the spleen's gone on the arm I was in too big a hurry I guess. I I'm off to buy another motor and transmission 😡 shame on you GM.
Upper Peninsula DIY the worst thing is that the new bushing feels little loose and it poped out next day. i did modify it a little but it feels like its just a matter of time
UPDATE: Don't bother using the bushing in this video. It DOES NOT work. The first time it rained and used the wipers is came apart again. I am making a follow up video for a better fix.
I have a 2011 GMC terrain that is having the same issue. Does replacing the bushing work or should I just get a whole new linkage?
Upper Peninsula DIY yes. it popped today again. anybody knows where i could get original part?

Great video! Just what I needed because my wife's lovely Equinox's wipers stopped two days ago. Thanks for all of the detail, including the bushings part number!
Thanks, glad the video helped. The bushing fix did not work. Click the link in the description box for the follow up video.
Great video, I will try to fix my wipers this weekend.
Thank you! Good luck getting yours fixed!
I repaired my wipers but they don't stop in the correct position. How do I fix that, much of the info online says the stop plate is bent. However I never saw a stop plate so?
Did you remove the motor from the assembly? Might be just the placement of the rod on the motor.
great fix they sure build stuff cheap nowadays
They sure do! Thanks for stopping by Drew!
You can use the plastic fastener remover to take the caps off the wiper blades
Good idea! Thanks for watching and commenting!
thanks for let us know I was ready to do it just like that I hope I get to watch your next video if you got a different idea thanks for taking all your time skills to sharing it with us
I do have another video: th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html This fix didn't end up working for me. I ended up having to replace the entire assembly.
Just had this happen today.
I'll be taking to the shop due to disabilities but I know now what time it takes.
I'm glad the video helped. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much. I was able to get in and fix my equinox with ease because of this video and I am not very handy at all.
Great work! Thank you for watching and commenting!
What position should the wipers be placed in when putting back together, been trying for an hour and can't get them back to the right resting place when shut off
If you skip to about the 13 minute mark in the video you can see the location of the parked motor bracket and what position the transmission is in.
Legend. Just followed this, exact same issue with my 2010 … got to end of my street in downpour and they just stopped lol. wtf.
I'm not handy at all, but super helpful when I had to tighten my wiper pivot nut and just needed some basic instructions (around min 7).
I'm glad the video helped some. Thanks for watching!
hey youve helped me out a couple times with iusses which is super appricated! did you ever have an issue with the back camera system that is built into the rearview mirrior, if so what did you do or suggest? thanks Adam from caseville!
Hi Adam, thank you for your kind words. Our Equinox didn't have a back up camera on it but I have seen other videos of people having issues with the wiring in the back tailgate leading to the camera. Maybe that could be a place to start looking. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thou shalt not apply petroleum-based grease to plastic bushings! It will cause them to soften and fail! Only use synthetic silicone grease!
Thanks for the tip!
Good ol boys are a dieing breed thank you. What size sockets did you use to press the bushing on?
My first thought would be the wiper arms need to be adjusted.
Come to find out after a bunch a brainstorming: I tighten the 14mm bolt where the arm was in the wrong spot. I got it now.
I replaced three of those plastic bushings. None of them worked. I ended up replacing the entire unit.
Same problem I had also. I have a follow up video saying just that. I ended up getting a replacement assembly.
Its not going to help you any but my wife got a letter from Chevy about a month ago saying that the windshield linkage on her 2016 Equinox could separate. If it does she can take it to a dealer and get it fixed for free until 150,000 mi or 2026.
Thank you for the info! That could help someone else coming to watch the video. I did hear recently Gm covered more years now.
It was mid day when I watched this video, haha! Appreciate the vid it helped a lot brother
Glad it helped!
Are you Canadian? Awesome video btw!
Live in the upper peninsula of Michigan but we all have a Canadian accent. haha Thanks for watching!
how do you do all that if you dont have a garage and all the fancy tools
Thanks for stopping by Robert. No fancy tools required, just a normal screw driver and socket set will get this project done.
This part number is for a Nissan. I used these bushings and within 5 minutes the wipers did it again. The bushings don't fit right
You are exactly right Mike.
Mine is a 2013 and they just stopped working this morning, in the middle of winter of course.
Yeah they seem to fail at the worst times.
My right one not moving well after storm. It is a new assembly 2 years old. I want to fix this on my own it just east fix
Check with your dealer, I have heard that the recall on these has extended to cover more years now. If not it's worth the money to buy the entire assembly. I have an update video to this one because the bushing fix did not work. Thanks for watching! Good luck!
I know i`m late but I running out`ta time in here...good vid on the wiper arm....I like it...good fix man....SALUTE
Better late than never Gator. lol Thanks for stopping by!
Haha that's a good one! Thanks for watching!
Here is a video I did as a follow up video: th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html
My fix was just replacing the entire assembly. I was gonna do exactly what you said though, drill a hole through the center and put a bolt and lock nut in it. That would be the cheapest fix.
Excellent helpful video. Thanks for posting it!
Glad the video helped out!
Very nice and clear instruction good job
Thank for watching and commenting!
The bushings don’t seem to stay on for long, probably need to go to the new linkage assembly.
You are right. I had the same issue. I put a video link in the description for an updated video: th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html
Good luck!
Great solution! Thanks for sharing it with everyone, much appreciated!
Great fix! Keep up the good work, enjoy your vids.
Thanks buddy ! very good video, my pocket appreciate...
I'm glad the video helped. I did make a follow up video to this one. The replacement bushing didn't work for me.
Well...I thought I was about to save $150. That is what AutoZone wants for the transmission. They have the bushing you used for $5.00, but if it's not going to work, I'll just replace the whole thing...bummer
Good luck on fixing the issue!
What is the name of the pice you ordered in Amazon
Don't bother ordering the bushing. Replacing the bushing only lasted about a day for me. I made a follow up video to this one. th-cam.com/video/BV_ooYKC-OM/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing that video it was very helpful to me
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! I'm glad the video helped you out. I did make an update video on this. The link is in the description.
mines stops parallel like 2 towers doesnt go back down to resting position
any help would be cool
What do you do after it stops? Can you push it back down and then it works again?
Probably a return fuse
What kind of grease did you use
I think I actually used a little bit of wheel bearing grease but you can use really anything. I'm sure there is a specific grease you should use, I just don't know what it would be. Remember I'm not an expert, just a DIYer.
Ok, how many of us was waiting when he broke out the pliers that something was gonna break and he'd be replacing them again.🤣
haha no faith in my diy skills?
@@UpperPeninsulaDIY faith yes. Plastic no...lol
To all who have spent money on this fix, you can be reimbursed. GM has a special coverage adjustment for the wiper transmission static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10171252-9999.pdf
for vehicles 2010 - 2012 and 2014 - 2017 for Equinox and Terrain
Great information! I sure hope they cover it now. Very poor design.
he didn't tell us about aligning the rods which causes the wipers to hit each other
You have to align the rods so the wipers don't hit each other. 😀
Hi all
New recall on wiper failure goes back to 2010. Check it out. If you got it repaired you maybe eligible for a refund. If you fixed yourself, depending on your mileage and time owned you may be eligible for a free replacement
No kidding, that is awesome! Do you have a link you can share?
u have a 2013 chevy equinox windshiled wiper have a recall on them check yours
Thanks for the tip Shuan! I did check with my dealer and they said of year is not included in the recall. Figures
Shaun Griffin To the best of my knowledge, the recall is only on 2010 models. At least here in Ontario.
My driver side failed in a rain storm (figures) and turns out my 2013 GMC Terrain (sister to Equinox) was part of the recall, Columbus, OH. Now if I can just see my way to the dealer in this deluge. I knew I should have acted on this before now!
this just happened to my Equinox the same thing.
It's not a very good design. GM has recalled some of them so check with your dealer. Yours may be with in the recall, otherwise I found it best just to replace the entire assembly. I have another video on it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Anyone find out where to buy I went to the dealership and they told me I had to buy the whole windshield wiper transmission to get the bushings
ROCK AUTO $40.00
I you have this issue, the 2013s were recalled. The NHTSA is looking into this problem. If you have this issue, please file a complaint to force GM to recall. www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the info.
Guys F all this trying to get new plastic bushings on the stupid thing. Save yourself the hardache and buy the whole new assembly off Amazon for $77
Your absolutely right! I have a follow up video to this one explaining just that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for your Help
Your welcome, thanks for watching and commenting!
Busch light man !!!!🍻
Cheers!
Holy shit !! Wished I'd cleaned off the ice and snow before hand. Fuck me !!! Thanks for the info ! wish I had a garage to do the work. Now I have to pay someone. Thanks !!
Yeah it is a poor design. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Now imagine if you had to tear the whole dash apart to fix this problem every month or so.
Yeah that wouldn't be fun at all.
Thank you so much!!!
Good fix sir.
Thanks Jerry, I appreciate it!
Thanks for the video
Glad the video helped! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Chevrolet Equinox 2010 are THE WORST lemons ever built.
I'm starting to think that also. Thanks for stopping by.
I have never spent so much in repairs on a car. Worst car I have ever owned mechanicalwise.
I know! My wife and I are living it! I'll never step foot on a GM/Chevy lot again.
my 2010 equinox is at 159k miles, granted it's the v6 but other than a few normal repairs after 100k I haven't had much issues. Hit or miss I guess.
Thank you for putting all the time and effort into this and then coming back and letting myself know and all the viewers! Very helpful, I thank you!
I just ordered mine as well as the old ill-fitting plastic bushing since i will need it as a spacer. Is there any way that you could snap a pic of how it should look with the half shells? If not, I am sure that I can figure it out. Thx
ROCK AUTO HAS THE COMPLETE WIPER TRANSMISSION FOR $40.
Do they? I always forgot to check with that site. Thank much, I appreciate you watching and commenting!
It is a very stupid design. Thanks for sharing and giving some tips!
For the love of baby Jesus does anyone know the part number for the bushings my damn wipers took a shit in the lovely blizzard happening
Read through the comments. There are a number of good solutions. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
GO PACK GO !!
helped thanks
Glad the vid helped. Thanks for watching!
Upper Peninsula DIY the worst thing is that the new bushing feels little loose and it poped out next day. i did modify it a little but it feels like its just a matter of time
That's the same thing I found. I plan to buy the whole assembly from the GM dealer.
ROCK AUTO $40.
