Carry more speed into corners for a faster lap time - fit anti-brake to your slot car controller

  • With slot car motors becoming faster and more powerful you sometimes have too much braking effect to drive a smooth and fast lap. You can now solve that problem by keeping the high torque, high brake motor and adding "anti brake" to your slot car controller instead. It can make your slot car so much easier to drive and improve your race performance.
    Components you will need...
    500 Ohm potentiometer - uk.rs-online.com/web/p/trimme...
    On-Off-On toggle switch - uk.rs-online.com/web/p/toggle...
    Strip Board - uk.rs-online.com/web/p/stripb...
    68 Ohm fixed resistor - uk.rs-online.com/web/p/throug...
You will also need some flexible wire (Slot car lead wire will do)

Thank you for this video, James! I have also performed the same mod on my controller and others as well. WARNING! If you use a late model DiFalco with brake bypass (ESP), you must use a triple-pole switch so you can interrupt the ESP when engaging anti-brake. I do add fans to the heat sink as well.

Think guys call this different names, I used this last year ( manufacturer called it a different name), it made helped me to become a better driver. Thank you for showing the drawings schematics I may just try DYI . don't miss this this one Boy's. Been racing for years , it helps, thank you cleaveTech ...

Hi James I'm very new to the hobby. Had a question. Can this kind of mod be done on a Palma controller with the wound resistor? On do you need a board with the resistor network? Sorry if I sound stupid

It is worth drilling out using a old 1/24 wheel and fitting it over the switch lever to prevent accidentally switching the position of the brake when you put the controller down, and ending up with no brakes unexpectedly, walls are hard. That used to happen to me all the time.

Too bad they're far away, otherwise I'd send them my control so they can do the same for me.

I can’t understate how important it is to add a fan to your transistor when doing something like this!

Nice mod. Should work a treat for HO and magnet cars, or cars with a great deal of brakes.

hello There again !! thats cool....actually the circuit is in parallel from the graduation and goes to the transistor base modulation. I personally dont like using the same transistor for both functions- it heats a lot !!!! - I did mine difalco upgrades using 2 or even 4 transistor - individually for anti-brake feat - in this case i had to use 8 wires cable instead of 6.

That is cool. I could guess the gist of how it would work, but having it explained is awesome. Thanks for the time man.

Another interesting and useful video. Keep up the good work James! You wired this a little differently than I expected but I can see the advantage of wiring convenience in doing it this way.

    Amazing, thanks for your explanations

Hi James great video. Can this be fitted to a Kobis controller. Will it work the same.

I loved the job. what price would it have to make a controller, exactly like that.
