After watching the video on the world record pigeon blood ruby as my introduction to this channel, I was disappointed not to see the stone being cut. Then I watched this video and what a treat to see the craft unfold with all the unique methods each cutter adopts through personal experience. This was a privilege to experience. My thanks to Dr. Peretti and company.
Mind blowing assortment of rubies. The 10ct one really blew my mind when you think about the fact that the other ones surrounding it are virtually impossible to come by! Much love from Germany 💎🙏🏼
@@pumpkindiamond994generally the term “pigeons blood” is exclusively reserved for Burmese rubies. Some labs will note that a ruby exhibits “pigeons blood” quality for non-Burmese stones, but not everyone in the industry considers that classification legitimate unless it is Burmese in origin.
Beautiful journey, interesting documentary and incredible rubies. Thank you Dr. Peretti for sharing this amazing experience with the gem loving communities, this is a real treat for ruby collectors! Best regards from Switzerland, Thierry
Excellent video. I deal a little and have some nice ruby and sapphire amongst others, I actually tried my hand at cutting when I went to Sri Lanka... mmm... it looks easy, but all I ended up with was a lump that looked like something unpleasant! These guys are so skilled.
As a Graduate Gemologist, I judge a stone on its merits only. I could absolutely care less in regards to the origin. My mother wears a ruby that I know is THE most beautiful ruby I have ever seen, and indeed, I laugh at the overused and cliche term "Burmese". People are shocked when they learn that not only is the stone not from Burma, it is also not from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Madagascar, Viet Nam, Tanzania, or Mozambique. When my mom is in my shop helping out she is often set upon by stone merchants who fall in love with her ring, saying that they have never seen a ruby as beautiful as the one that she has on. I agree and tell them with a grin that they never will. This is a great video on the rubies of Mozambique. I applaud.
I’m a jeweler and I agree, I don’t like how such a premium is placed on origin. A fine gem is a fine gem, regardless of where it originated from. Burmese, Colombian, Ceylon, these terms of meaningless by themselves. All that should matter is the quality of the stone.
You mean you COULDN'T care less. As in, you couldn't possibly care any less. If you COULD care less, then that means you DO actually care and it's possible for you to care even less than you already do. Never understood how people can botch common phrases.
You can marvel at the Sri Lankan Master. He didn't need any gauges to measure . It was pure feel and what was in his brain. A true artist. No amount of AI will take out this unique human skill. Burmese Rubies would have been even better but not much is coming out of there. If you need the best gem cutters go to Sri Lanka.
Good question. The lot of rough with high fluorescence at the auction was detected from one production spot. Why it is like that I answered in the movie to one of the directors of gemfields. You will find the answer if you look the entire movie in case you did not watch it 100%. I hope I was clear in the movie with my answer, if not let me know.
@@gemresearch so only a certain spot may have those high cr low iron ruby while the rest are high iron ruby? Interesting. I wish one day they find an abundant deposit marble ruby with good clarity. Somethings like burmese n vietnamese but better clarity
I only want to Facet gems. I’d like to know where I can buy facetable stones to cut into gems but I ‘m only a Lapidary Club member. Is there somewhere I can buy rough gems of any type, to Facet? Thank-you for sharing the good fortune you have shared with us watching TH-cam
You can have real lab grown ruby on Ebay. Search for ruby boule, it is around 30$ for 50g of synthetic but real ruby. I'm surprise that you did not get you answer from your club?
We’ve had COVID19 lockdown here in Victoria. No more than 5km from home, one hour out of the home, that type of thing. I like online shopping but had a great idea for a ring. I had to enquire. The size will be the difference with this ring. As well I had just gifted the last ruby to my Grand-daughter. Now for shopping. Thanks heaps.🙋🏼♀️💎🇦🇺
Why laboratories giving Reports synthetic Ruby 🤔 by the mobile camera we can access the Ruby gem stone I have checked at my own international inclusion we can see
They're fantastic but they seem extremely dark compared to many classic Burmese stones, I can't help but feel they're marketed aggressively- not because they're the best rubies, but because they're the most profitable for mine owners and dealers. They're not lively "glowy" gems.
Lol now when people say “synthetic is exactly the same scientist say so” ill just say “yeah scientist say they can see the difference too you gonna listen or not?”
Synthetics are replicas. There is a reason an authentic babe ruth rookie card is worth a fortune, and a replica babe ruth rookie card is worth a dollar. Synthetic stones are a waste of time.
I’ve got what I had believed to be a red Diamond Brilliant Round Cut weight is 3.57ct but I think it’s a ruby now something made me want to test it with a diamond tester and it gave a positive but I’ve been doing my home work and I’d like to sell it

Can any experts explain me why ancient world considered the red spinel as ruby and why present day red sapphire which has characters of sapphire except chromium which gives red colour called ruby, as per present condition if sapphire has 51% red is considered ruby ........why there is so much confusion passed 3000yrs from the time of biblical era, Bible mentions ruby which is only second to Wisdom and a women of great virtue then if ruby is given high place by creator himself, ruby must be really a great creation of God......my main question is does the today recognized ruby fulfill all the qualities of rubies mention in bible and Hindu Vedas. What is the real ruby ???
In such a case discovering exactly what was referenced would take some thing like jewelry merchant journals on where they bought and traded “rubies” if they got them from spots that historically or still produce rubies then it would be clearer. It could be that many red stones were called rubys. Does the bible have specific locations they mention?
@@fajile5109 all the ancient Kings ruby points to Red Spinel , its 100% red spinel......its not all red stones are ruby, its specifically red spinel, its a confusion put by Satan himself since he was decorated with all precious stone including ruby, the 12 foundation of New Jerusalem does not have ruby....only one which gives 12color under x ray , red spinel is just dark under x ray but red sapphire gives rainbow colour so its zero percent chance that today's ruby which is actually red sapphire is real ruby

there is no Mozambican or any African there, African wealth is own by others.. sadly
This is the sad thing. West has captured all wealth of these countries and made the people slave.
Well, for one time it is not the white people exploiting them, mostly Indians and Sri Lanka's. If they accept being exploited, what can one do?
Power and wealth to the people!!!
Sold by your own ppl sadly
