  • Episode 1 of an ongoing series in which I'll show you how to go from never picking up a golf club or hitting a ball, to impressing your friends down the driving range with your newfound skill set!
In this episode, I'm talking about how important your grip is. This stage is crucial, so we aren't even going to address the ball yet (that comes later don't worry). Three main types of grip are used when playing golf and finding the right one for you is the most important thing, the grips are; interlocking, overlapping and baseball bat. To begin with I tend to recommend everyone start out with the interlocking grip, it may feel strange to begin with, however, it's very easy to get used to after a couple of swings. Try all the grips out and see which is most comfortable for you.
Next, you can hold your grip three different ways, a strong grip, a neutral grip and a weak grip. Don't worry too much about this at this stage but it's good to note that you can play golf with any of the above grips and strength combinations and play well.
Disclaimer: At no point will I ever try and teach you the perfect way to do something. The 'perfect' way is the way that's right for you.
In the next video, I will be showing you how to properly stand to start building your swing
